Hi! I've checked the average monthly temps. for the above dates but they look to be within a couple of degrees from each other. Would anyone be able to compare the difference in temperature and humidity and how it "feels" at WDW during these times? Trying to decide when to book. Thanks so much!!

Hot Hot HOT! We have been both times and really, I never noticed any difference. It was 95 and humid in both June and later August. So, we are doing a repeat of later August, because then at least the lower crowds make up for the heat and humidity! (sort of) But hey, you're not digging ditches!

Hot, hot, hot but nothing you haven't had in CA. It's hot in August most places so you will just be hot in Disney :) This August is our 4th time and the only time of year we go... crowds will be lighter (even with dining plan) and parks will still have late nights. You might not get 3am but we did have 2am at MK most trips. You will be happy to see a bit of rain in the afternoon (our last trip it rained twice in 10 days for about 30 minutes - we were praying for some rain). Enjoy!

Isn't late August the beginning of hurricane season? I am not sure if that affects WDW but know it can be a problem near the coast. I have relatives in the south near the gulf and it seems like August and September can be times of hurricanes. Maybe somebody from Florida can answer this question. I just wanted to bring it up in case it is something you would want to consider. I am in earthquake country like you so have no personal experience with humidity other than on vacation.

Both are HOT (as the others have said) but I found August to just be too much. Mid June there is usually a thunderstorm in the middle of the day and things cool off - a tad. If you go during either of those times, but plan on parks in the morning with a nice pool break in the afternoon to cool down and relax.

Official hurricane season is June 1 to December 1, but about 80% of hurricanes occur between August 15 and October 15, so in late August, your chances of hurricanes are definitely higher than they would be in June.

Daylight hours are also slightly shorter in August than they are in June. You can probably look up sunrise-sunset times to find out how much shorter.

I have to say the heat in CA is nothing like the heat in Orlando. If you haven't experienced it before, the humidity can be oppressive, particularly to us wimpy left coasters who don't do weather. I have traveled enough in the Southeast that it isn't that big a deal to me, but I'd still take the 115 degree dry heat of Palm Springs or Vegas before the 95 degree and (seemingly) 2500% humidity of Orlando if given a choice.

As for better weather, I think June, aside from being slightly cooler, would also be a tad dryer. I don't think the difference between the two months should be a decision breaker either way though. I personally would opt for late August since there will be less crowds.

Hey Sabres Fan
Me, too! Looking forward to the game tonite!! Looking forward to Play-off Hockey (hopefully)
We were at Disney late august about 10 years ago, and there was nary a hurricane to be seen. Just afternoon downpours every day for about 20 minutes. But I'm not sayin' there won't be something brewing this year - ya never know!!

Go Sabres! :cool1:

We have gone in late August many times and it is extremely humid and hot. Rains almost every day in the afternoon. Crowds are pretty thin then and lines are short.
