What kind of clothes should we bring for Jan 1 - 6 ... shorts or long pants? Half of our family is hot natured and half is cold natured. We will be taking afternoon breaks almost every day, so we can change if need be. Thoughts?

Based on last Jan and the current forecast (which if course can't be given too much weight!) I would bring mostly long pants, short sleeve shirts, and sweatshirts/jackets. It may be warm enough that you want shorts for a few hours in afternoon some days, but I it much easier to just wear jeans and layer on/off with my shirts. We are going Jan 5 to 12 and I'm just bringing on pair of shorts each. Don't forget hats and gloves....I have found that I often want them in Dec/Jan after the sun goes down.

When we went 2 years ago, we brought a lot of layers. We mostly wore jeans/pants, t-shirts with fleeses or sweatshirts over them. One morning it was so cold we needed our winter coats. Other days it was so warm we were walking around in t shirts.

Definitely bring hats and gloves from home. We went once in December when the forecast wasn't to be really cold. DD 4 wanted to bring hats and gloves but we told her no we wouldn't need them. Well needless to say it turned way way cold after we were there so that we had to spend over $100 to get a family of 4 gloves, hats, and scarves. Good souvineers but wouldn't have Been my first choice

Both! Sorry, that is not helpful ~ but we have been there that week and needed shorts and long pants (even leggings under pants) and jackets all in the same week.

But I will say, my husband is very warm natured and on the days he wore shorts, I was fine in jeans.

We will be in WDW at the same time. The ten day forecast says a high of 79 and low of 61. We're from Chicago, so anything above 50 degrees isn't coat weather for us.We will have our winter coats with us, just in case. We're bringing a mix of jeans and hoodies, with a few warm weather outfits. Right now it's twenty degrees, so I can't wait to be in the warmer weather.

We were there that week this past year and it was COLD....not cool in the morning, but COLD all day cold. It was 27 the morning we went to AK. Bring lots of layers. We have swam and wore shorts in January but not that trip!

Bring layers. A mid day break won't be of much help to change. Odds are it will be somewhere between 40-60 in the AM, 60-80 in the afternoon, then 40-60 again at night. So it's more of a take a layer off, and then put it back on later on. I'd say jeans and shorts, and then play it day by day. Plan on having at least one warmer packable layer you can stuff in your bag during the afternoon when its warm.

The weather has been VERY unpredictable the past few weeks and that looks to continue. Had to bring in the plants early this week because it was low 30's at night and only got into the 50's during the day. Today is HOT (almost 80) and humid! Tomorrow is supposed to only go to 65 for the high. Plan for everything from hats and gloves to swimsuits :rotfl2:. Layering is a great idea!

We are here right now.

I have worn:

Capris and light jacket
Jeans and light jacket
Shorts and a shirt

It has been 40-70 degrees

We have had rain and cold wind and a nice humid day!

everyone is different, and eevery day is different.
1, check the weather EVERY morning before getting dressed
2. carry hats and magic (stretchy) gloves if you will be out late
3. If someone is really worried, have them wear hiking pants that zip off at the knee, so they have shorts and pants!
4. carry a lined hoodie for everyone.
We have done january and february in mostly shorts and tees, with a fleece or hoodie for morning..Then the next day, it was 78 and we went swimming, followed by a day that was wet and cold, and we did jeans and sweatshirts and fleece and gloves!
Unpredictable. We made sure to check the weather, and carry a bag with the gloves and hoodies, and it all worked out.
