Weather can affect Disney Dream Castaway

Nothing in life or on a vacation is guaranteed. I think that DCL and other cruise lines do the best they can in the event they can't make a port. If a beach day or beach vacation is that important go to the beach then, not on a cruise.

I'm bummed about that, but, my DD and I will still be there, just to see Kaile and Wash (love Firefly!)

I am looking forward to Sean Astin. I adore Rudy, and we've run in a few 1/2 marathons at Disney together (although he and his wife are MUCH faster than me, and I never actually saw them. :) Still hoping for John Barrowmann. :)

Certain times of year this is more likely. I went in November and the sea was really rough. We weren't able to dock at CC but were able to do the other ports since they are larger. I had an inside cabin but people who had a veranda could only use them 1 of the 4 days of the cruise due to the weather. If really sucks but that's why certain times of year are cheaper.

Captain Jack!!!! I think I'd have a total fangirl moment if he came!

I just hope Denver Comicon doesn't get to be as big as San Diego, I'd hate to have all that crowding around.

It's long but it has some serious gems, like the author having a fit that DCL won't have a fully-costumed princess deliver a cake to their table in MDR. I still can't tell if it's real.

I don't think she had a fit. According to the post...She asked DCL if they would do it, they said yes, then apparently another CM rudely told her "no" when she boarded the ship and asked. We all know we have never seen that, so it is likely Disney doesn't do it, but to tell (incorrectly) someone yes understandably raises their expectation. Telling them later no (correctly) should be done with a caring attitude, not with disdain or contempt.

It was a long post, and seemed like an entitled guest at times, but in all fairness if her post is fair Disney had a hand in the problems.

btw, I agree with her on the shells. Taking small shells from CC would like be taking dead leaves. Plenty more where they came from.

I suppose in my case, as soon as I booked...in August...I prepared myself for being in the middle of the ocean surrounded by Cat 5 hurricanes on all 4 sides :rotfl2:

Hurricane Andrew? My birthday.
Hurricane Katrina? Just after my birthday.
Hurricane Irene? Landed in the middle of it in PR...for my birthday. - got it twice. Landing into PR, then we flew to Florida...just in time for the mainland to get hit. The remnants even flooded parts of NY while we were on vacation IN Florida. LOL
Went to Disney and stayed at the Contemporary...tropical storm (about 3 years ago)
15th Birthday party? Hurricane AND a death in the family.
12th Birthday? Mom broke her arm...and the house was hit by lightning.
And I was born in the middle of a storm/mudslides.

Vacations tend to have...well...weather issues with me. So I'm fully prepared to at least be on a fantastic ship with no work, great food, great entertainment...and if I happen to luck out and get good weather and make all the stops then BONUS!

I do think especially with all the money folks spend on these trips that the sense of entitlement and the sense of everything needing to be perfect takes over.

Just realize that nothing is perfect and Disney ESPECIALLY won't do anything to jeopardize your safety. You just have to learn to roll with the punches.

We just finished a 4 day Dream cruise Feb 23-27. We had a beautiful day at Castaway Cay on Wednesday. Rather than arrive Wednesday morning as usual we arrived late Tuesday evening and spent the night docked at the island. I never heard any announcement of why we did this and the CM we spoke with said the crew hadn't been informed in advance.
