I'll be travelling from Canada to stay at our home resort for the first time and will be booking 11 months out. Just wondering what the weather is usually like? Need coats? Can we swim?

Yes, you can swim, the pools are heated, but it may be a bit cool when you get out. I just got some sun, while my girls enjoyed the pool. We went the first week last year in December and honestly, I packed a little of everything. I thought we would be needing to dress in layers, but we actually ended up having awesome weather, like in the 80's during our stay. I can only remember a couple of nights that were kind of chilly to me, but a light jacket was enough to keep me warm, but I'm normally hot natured. Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip, we leave in 2 days!!!

You're Canadian. Even if the Floridians are in coats, you will be in shorts.

It could be highs in the fifties, or highs in the eighties, but either way Disney heats the pools aggressively. The only question is how comfortable you will be getting out of the pool until you're dry/inside.

Have a great trip!

Having gone the 2nd week of Dec every year since '93; I can tell you the highs have been from 48 to mid-80s F.
Packing can be a challange but I have found that weather.com has a very good history on their 10-day forcast.

I've gone the first week of December many times and agree with the others, it could be highs in the 50's all the way up to the 80's. There have been trips where I brought my winter coat and gloves, others just a light jacket. I always watch the forecast before I go before final packing. My experience is if highs are below 70, it will get cold after dark.

We too have gone 5 or 6 times in Dec. even coming down this year 12-16. I've worn winter coats because it was 45 and miserably wet and also been in the pool because it was a sunny balmy 85.Pack a little of everything and bring your sunny side up.:cool1:

Keep checking the weather online and that's the best way you'll know. It could be anything.

Bring everything from coats/hats/gloves to shorts and t-shirts. If you don't, you may end up having to make some very expensive gift shop purchases.

Even on the warmest days, when the sun goes down it will be cold. Better to over-pack than under-pack, IMO.
