Hi,

Anyone know what the weather is usually like in mid October? We are going from the 14th to the 22nd and I don't know whether to skip the shorts and stick to jeans or not.

Also, does anyone know how crowded it it is during this time? Is it unbearable?

27 days until WDW!! :yay:

I'd actually go for both, it can be warm in October yet that is also the time of the year some of the cold fronts start passing through...but it may not be so cold depending on where you're coming from. (shorts don't take up much room anyway) ;)

You're going over Columbus Day week which is typically the busiest week in October. We've been to WDW the weekend following Columbus Day which was busy but not unbearable.

This Oct 15-22 will be my 4th time to go in Oct. I usually t-shirt and short it the entire time I am there. I do recall one day, the first day of my trip I bought a sweatshirt because it was cold..only wore it that one day. Otherwise we have been really lucky with the beautiful weather. See you there, fellow Diser....!

I was actually hoping that since this is the week after Columbus Day that we would get lucky with the crowds and that they would be low. Keeping my fingers crossed!

We will be there 10/15 -21

October 14 - 20. We are coming from N Va and it will be a little cool up here so we are starting out with jeans and tshirts for the drive down, but we'll be packing shorts for the rest of the stay.

We went last October and are going again this October. We brought jeans and a sweatshirt but never used it last year. We are hoping for the same thing this year.

We were still sweating in November so we won't bother with jeans at all next month!

one of the replys said you were going over columbus day week, you are not, columbus day is the 9th. those folks should be out of there by the 14th or 15th

We go in October all the time and my bags get lighter and lighter every trip as I pack fewer cool weather clothes. I'd pack a pair of long pants and a light long sleeved sweater and a sweatshirt just to be on the safe side (although I usually just buy one there anyway). Bring your bathing suit as you will be able to use it! Evenings are typically absolutely wonderful but you can run into a little rain (far less than summertime). Have fun.

...weather is usually warm, but not hot. the nights can be cool, so you definately need long pants and at least one sweater/light coat.(all the pools are heated). we have gone the last few years at this time, and the crowds are not bad at all. a big plus is the epcot food & wine festival. operating hours are scaled back a bit, and not everything is going full tilt like summer time, but with the low crowds, you have plenty of time to do everything. there usually is a large group of british there at this time, because they have a fall school break. we have found they can be fun to talk to.
for us, its a more relaxed, laid back time to vacation. :goodvibes

We will be there the same week. Our family has gone in October for the past 7 years. I find it hot in the day time and the night time is warm. My husband and I wear shorts the entire trip.

The crowds are usually not bad. Maybe a 45 minute wait for Splash mountain.
(But thats what a fast pass is for). Years ago October was not crowded, but I have seen a steady increase in over the years.

Make sure you get tickets for the MMNSHP! This event is a great benefit for going in October.

We're going 16th-23rd! How was the crowds for you in Oct? First week of Oct in '05 was horrible, way crowded etc. Hoping for much better crowds this time around, and it seems to be average or below average crowdwise from all I've seen so far. I'm bringing mostly shorts etc with one pair of jeans and a sweater incase. (I don't have winter clothes being in Miami anyway :confused3)

We were there last year, October 10th - 17th, weather could not have been better.... Loved that... it only rained for maybe 20 mins one day!! that was it... still way to warm for jeans... I would say 85 degrees or so.... BUT, crowds were terrible.... we were shocked... fall breaks are very popular.... BUT with all that said.... We loved October  .... low risk of hurricanes, gorgeous weather and MNSSHP which was awesome!!!!! crowds... well, I wished they had been smaller... Waits for Soaring were about 70 minutes and 1 day during the week fast pass was all gone for that ride by 11am....

Columbus day is on Monday the 9th, so your not going Columbus day weekend or week. You should be fine and the crowds low. I on the other hand am hitting the end of free dining and doing a trade for free food with higher crowds.

You'll have a good time! I'd pack 1 pair of jeans and one very light sweater/jacket just to be safe, but summer things for the rest. Have a blast!

Stupid question - when is Columbus Day this year? Is it a holiday in the US? (I'm British BTW).

I'm assuming the Parks are very busy this day and weekend before?

Should have read this....

Flying into MCO on the 9th. Am I going to have any problems with places like supermarkets, car rental etc being closed on this day?

Thank you all for your wonderful responses! I hope you all have a great time during your vacations!

Nope, no problems for you, nothing like that is closed.. some businesses but that's about it, everything you will need will definately be open!!! Have fun!!! Enjoy the weather, it's beautiful!!!! :sunny:

Don't forget about the Disney (Funai) Golf Tournament going on then, Oct. 15-22. That may add to the crowds also. Lot of amatuers playing with the pros beginning of the week and crowds watching them. Might get to see some of the PGA pros wandering around also. :cool1:

Now I am concerned! Has anyone been at Disney when a PGA golf tournament has been going on? I have this fear that the park will be jammed pack and I won't be able to see anything!
