I'm looking to get a new watch and considering I plan on working for Disney next spring semester, I was wondering if there are any certain standards or requirements they have about the watch you wear? I know there are specifics for shoes and how you appear in general so I thought I'd check. Thanks for any advice!

I swear I read somewhere they give you a watch...which I sort of didn't really know if that was true or not. I also think I saw it has to be a Disney watch. Now, none of this is true unless confirmed, but I'd also be interested in the details if anyone knows.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts does not currently issue watches to Hourly Cast Members.

In the past, Hourly Cast Members at Disney Store locations in North America were issued watches as part of their costumes. However, this is no longer the case.

All Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Cast Members may wear a classic, business-style wristwatch. The overall design should be conservative. Extreme styles are not permitted.

The type of watch you want to have may depend on the location you are working in. When I started, instead of wearing my "nice" watch, I bought a cheap $5 watch from target, so that if it got scratched or fell in the river it would not matter. Also, your watch does not have to be a disney watch, as long as it meets the already posted guidelines, you will be ok.

The major thing with the watches is that they can't clash with your costume and so it shouldn't be one of those huge leather cuff watches.
It also depends on your manager. I had twelve when I was working over at the studios cause I worked both custodial and GMR. I had a cheap winnie the pooh watch I brought at target which was ok by some and not by others. My one custodial manager said it clashed with the costume. OK the costume at MGM (it will always be MGM) was white with the funky blue half patch. What the hell can clash with that. It was a small watch with a small wrist band that was white with purple/green bees on it.
I would just recomend a cheap black watch from target or walmart.

I had a $75 Mickey bracelet-style watch (the links are Mickey-shaped). I thought it was very conservative and business-like. Early on, my costume-savant manager ;) asked to see my "bracelet". Errrrrr, it's a *watch* that we SELL here at WDW? He acted surprised that it was a watch and said again that it also made a nice *bracelet*. I wore it all program, but it was ogled a few more times. Think: classic, business and you should be OK.

I just wore a cheap $6 watch I got a wal-mart and no one said anything to me and my costume was almost pure white. Thankfully it will go a bit better with my new costume but just get a cheap watch at like wal-mart or target and you should be fine.
