Hi Everyone - someone mentioned to me that there may be restrictions from wearing sandals or open toe shoes on rides at Disney - anyone know if that's true? Thanks.

Only on Soarin' - you leave your flip-flops on the floor.

Lots of women walk around with rubber flip-flops, kind you wear at the pool. So if that's allowed, anything is.

I wear my Birkenstocks or Teva flip flops as much as i can. Never had a problem.

I have worn beach sandals the past couple times at the parks, and besides from an odd foot tan from the straps..no problems from Disney

The only shoe restrictions are against Wheelies/Heelies. And, as a PP said, if the shoes won't stay on your feet for Soarin' you leave 'em on the floor. Other than that, anything goes. Just check out badshoe.com!

I wear Teva's with no problems. (Not flip flops)

I ONLY wear slip on sandals in the parks...can't stand my feet enclosed! I don't wear any flip flops, but I love my pair of earth shoes! Soarin is the only ride I can think of off hand that you leave them on the floor. Some attractions I just slide them off & rest my feet on them. I just have issues w/ my feet!!!

I live in Florida and only wear sandals. I hate socks!
(ok... if it gets really cold, like 30 degrees, I will break down and wear socks and shoes.)

I go to Disney all the time in my sandals. Now I usually wear walking sandals to WDW and almost all my sandals hook around my heel. I want to be able to run in my sandals.

So enjoy! Just make sure that whatever shoes you choose to wear, are broken in and if you are going for more than a few days, I recommend at least 2 pairs. This way you can switch on and off. This helps avoid blisters.

Have a great trip!!

FWIW, I don't have foot problems at all, but the last time I wore croc flip flops to Disney for the day my feet and ankles were *aching* by the end of the day. I mean, they were *really* sore. I was there with a friend who is a physical therapist and she basically said "what did you expect, *******, they have no arch support"

YMMV but I changed to regular crocs or sneakers and was much happier. I'm still going to bring my flip flops but I don't think I'll do Epcot in them. :scared1:

Anyone hear of Fitflops? What did youthink of them? Supposedly they are *super* comfy flip flops that work your gluts and quads while you walk.

I just got my first pair and they've been comfortable for the 2 hours I've had them on but I haven't even walked my dog with them yet. :dogdance: I didn't get the flip-flop style though, because I can't stand things between my toes. They're the Freeway style: http://www.fitflop.com/products/freeway/#product_023_natural

I have both plantar fasciitis and a torn meniscus in one of my knees, but basically my doctor says to go ahead and walk as much as I feel up to, and I intend to. :woohoo: I can say they feel pretty good on my knee and it hasn't cracked once since I had them on.

I have a pair of MBTs also, and I like them a lot, but they're suede so that's no good for Disney.

OK, pretty much "what they said". I usually wear Crocs and I love them. But I will caution you to walk in the shoes you plan to wear to Disney- I mean really walk in them all day for at least a mile or two and see if they hurt your feet. My DD chose to wear flip flops and we ended up buying some $30 Crocs for her mid-day. I tried to tell her that they would rub a blister but she would not listen. She got to spend her souvie $ on shoes - oh well, lesson learned. She is now planning to wear comfy shoes in September:)

I agree with all the replies here.. I personally hate wearing open toe shoes, but I love crocs, and while I was at Disney most recently, I can't tell you how many people I saw who'd been wearing flip flops, who went to the first aid center, needing band aids from having the tops of their feet rubbed raw by the flip flops.

Pass.

(but that's just me)

I've been all Crocs, all the time at Disney for years now. Seriously, my sister and I started wearing them just for a Disney trip very early when they were hard to find. It was sort of like a dare..."I'll wear those ugly things if you will!" and on that trip we stayed on the lookout for anyone wearing them so we wouldn't feel so weird. ;) We literally counted the others - 13 people wearing them in a week. But weird or not, they were comfortable and our feet didn't blister (very big deal for my sister) or hurt.

FF to my most recent trip this May. I recently got some Crocs flip-flops (the ones with the canvas thong) and some Teva Mush flip flops. I figured I'd just wear the Tevas to the pool, but WOW, they were really comfortable! I ended up wearing the Tevas most of the time, mixing in the Croc flops here and there. I never thought I'd find anything that was as comfortable and warded off sore feet and legs as well as Crocs, but the Tevas have taken the top spot. I just got 2 more pair this weekend - both in black, 1 for home and 1 pair to keep in my Owner's Locker. :)

One thing I like about the Tevas versus the Crocs is that the thong is slighty cushy - doesn't wear on the top of the foot or feel hard at all.

I tend to wear Birkenstocks most of the time, but in the Disney parks I've learned I need to wear sneakers and socks. Anything else, and I end up with blisters.

I wore my flip flop crocs for park hopping about 2 weeks ago and had the misfortune of getting a bad blister on the bottom of my left foot. What happened was it got wet from a ride and instead of sitting down for a litttle while to let my feet dry, I kept on going resulting in a very sore water blister  Of course hubby wouldn't let me live it down the whole trip and kept commenting that I should have worn socks and sneakers in the first place. :headache:
