I have a question for those of you who have taken little girls (mine are 5 & 7) do you let them wear their dress up -Cinderella, Minnie, TinkerBell, etc. - dresses? It seems like a pain to pack those, but if there are other girls wearing them, I will never be forgiven!! I was thinking maybe just for the dinner when we meet the princesses? princess:

TAKE THEM! The first time we went to Disney with the little ones my then 4year old dd asked about wearing them after watching the planning video. I told her "honey, that's just a commercial". When we got there all the little girls were wearing them so we ended up buying both dds a new princess costume. Mine only wear their dresses to the breakfasts or dinners (and they they change back). However, we now travel with six or seven girl costumes and even ds (4) brings his Mickey costume to wear to Chef Mickey's.

Definatly bring them i have 2 boys but every time we go we see so many little girls dressed up your girls would never forgive you. they do sell them all over also so be prepared they may want new ones lol good luck

It would also depend on what time of year you are going. I always feel so sorry for the little girls in the 80,90 100 degree heat who are wearing these elaborate hot costumes all around the parks (crying usually). We will usually book one princess meal where my DD5 has the choice of wearing one princess costume that we bring or one disney store outfit (in summer they often have cute lightweight summer dresses with a princess logo/picture) or just regualr clothes. When it is cooler out she will pick the costume which she wears for the meal and then changes out of after into something warmer and if it is the summer time it will be 50-50 costume or Disney store dress. If costume she will change out of it into something lighter. If it is the DS dress/outfit then it is usually lightweight enough for her to wear all day.

Yes, bring them! My DD loves to dress up in the parks and I was a bad mom and forgot to pack a dress on our last trip. Don't forget the accessories: the crown, the wand, etc. The girls are so cute when they are dressed up!

I will pack DD4's dresses. But I will also take a change of clothes for her when we hit the parks. I cringed last time I was there, a little girl was all decked out but crying her feet hurt. Her mom was just screaming at her how it was her own fault because she wanted to wear the shoes. I felt so bad for the little girl.

Yes, bring the dresses.

Our girls (4 and 7 at the time) wore them to the breakfast at CRT. Many of the girls were wearing them. I think they get more attention and the pictures are great. I have a picture of my cinderella with cinderella, and my snow white with snow white on my desk at work and everybody comments on it. After breakfast I took a couple of pics of them w/the castle in the background. Then they changed out of them and we put them in a bag in a locker. I can't imagine keeping them on all day. Especially if they are wearing fancy shoes. I noticed that some girls wore princess dresses to the wonderland tea party (at the GF) too. Mine wore regular clothes.

I brought 2 outfits for character meals for my DD on our last trip. They pack nice and small in a zip lock bag. She wore sneakers or Teva sandals. One meal was dinner so we just went back to our hotel. The other was Epcot's Storybook breakfast. DD kept her Jasmine costume on most of the day but did eventually change into shorts and T. Jasmine fit into a quart size bag. On previous trips DD had special T's to wear but she really enjoyed wearing the outfits. It was well worth bringing them.

I was kicking myself for having left my girls' dresses at home... seemed so many girls had theirs and my 4 yr old kept asking me where hers was-she wanted to be a princess too.... :( Next time I'll remember to do it!

YES!! Bring a princess dress or dresses. We were lucky and had breakfast at Cindy's Castle and our DD was very much into being a princess, that she was Cindy for halloween the prior year. So we packed it up and she wore it to the breakfast. It made for great pictures.

Even without the breakfast, i would bring a dress again. The character interaction she got wearing it was great. When we came across Suzy and Perla, our DD went up to them for autographs and they immediately started to bow and whatnot as if DD was really Cinderella. the look at DD's face was worth any hassel it may have been to lug it around. DD couldn't believe that she was mistaken for the real Cindy!

Infact that Cindy dress is making its second trip to disney as i type, our good friends are going down with their DD.

Thank you so much for the help. I totally thought it was only in the Disney ads/commercials that girls wore them! I will definately bring them!! princess:

On the days that my dd wears hers, she wears it most of the day, but definitely not the plastic shoes, they are no good for wearing all day. My dd wore white trainers with pink ribbons in them, they looked cute and are comfy for all day.

i would definately recommend bringing them (with sneakers though!). CMs will go out of their way to "mistake" your little girls for the Real Thing, that's GOT to be a thrill for any kid princess:

I've seen several little princesses in there white keds with the pink ribbons. Too cute!

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I think it's tacky. I'll let my DD wear princess or character t-shirts to WDW, but not costumes. It's just not practical and can't be comfortable. I don't want to be carrying around extra changes of clothes and/or shoes to the parks either. I leave the costumes at home.

I'd say YES bring them. BUT... In my experience you can't predict whether or not they will want to wear them to the parks. Last May we made reservations for CRT and DW brought DD3's Snow White dress along so that she could wear it for breakfast and then change afterwards. DD3 refused to put on the dress until we reached the castle foyer. DW slipped the dress over her head and DD3 threw a "royal fit". Not quite the "memory" we were looking for, but it makes us all laugh just thinking about it.

Yes! Let them wear them--like other posters said, the "treatment" they get with them on is priceless. I can't remember how many times my daughter was bowed to and called princess. She LOVED it. She wore her tennis shoes with it--she wanted her princess shoes but I knew that wouldn't work out so well. I brought a sundress in the backpack in case she wanted to change. I think she would have worn it every day if I would have let her!

Yes! Bring them! Theyre so cute! And I remember I loved dressing up when I was little. Except if your going when its really hot, remember your kid might be baking in that outfit!

I definantly say go for it! My sister in law just returned yesterday from a trip with her 5 yr old daughter, and Maddie was just thrilled to be meeting Cinderella at Cinderella's Royal Table while wearing the same outfit as her favorite princess! SIL says that Maddie even started to cry a little, she could barely contain herself! =) Enjoy and have a truly magical vacation!

Yes there are many many girls wearing princess costumes. Mine did and loved seeing their Princess. MAke sure you have comfy shoes for DD though, I saw several little girls with the plastic princess shoes having a hard time.
