Wearing princess dresses to Disney??

I have a couple of questions about this, but first a little background. We have ressies for CRT for DD's 6th birthday next month. Her favorite Princess is Ariel, 2nd favorite is Aurora. DD4's favorite is Tinkerbell - I don't know that she has a 2nd favorite as she likes all of them. Ariel and Tinkerbell aren't even possibilities to be at the breakfast, so would they seem out of place wearing those costumes, or would the Princesses make a point to be happy to see some of their friends who aren't normally there? Also, where do you find nice Princess costumes this time of year? I've seen some that look pretty nice at Wal-Mart and maybe Target? We won't have time to get them down there, since we're getting in the evening before. My girls have quite a few costumes in the closet, but they're mostly in pretty raggedy shape. My preference would be for them to wear a princess shirt, but, like the OP, I know they would not be happy with me once they see all the other little girls in their costumes. TIA. Lauri

:sad1: Our Disney Store hasn't had them since some time around Halloween except for the dress up trunk - which, IMO, aren't nice enough to wear out. We didn't start planning this trip until around Thanksgiving, and by that time, there were none to be found. I also checked the disneydirect website and they don't have anything, either. :sad1:

We're staying at ASMo the first night and I'm waiting to hear about renting some DVC points for the remainder of the stay :goodvibes We might have time to find one once we get there, but I don't want to count on it and then have it not happen.

You simply must. My dd's always wore costumes to storybook breakfasts and castle breakfast. We had a tote with their play clothes. After they got their pictures made and were all princessed out, we had them change in the restrooms. They love the extra special attention they recieved coming into the parks, the cm's would always say "good morning princess." princess:

Don't forget - Downtown Disney is open late every night, and they have a ton to choose from there.

what dress does she usually wear? I love the red one, but somehow I'm thinking she wears the blue dress with the apron. Not a very princess-ish costume. You guys won't believe this but I actually woke up in the middle of the night last night thinking..."What dress does Belle wear?!?!?" I was all set to post a thread this morning and then I found this one!

Funny! At the Epcot PSB breakfast in June 2003, she was wearing the blue one with the apron.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I think it's tacky. I'll let my DD wear princess or character t-shirts to WDW, but not costumes. It's just not practical and can't be comfortable. I don't want to be carrying around extra changes of clothes and/or shoes to the parks either. I leave the costumes at home.

:worship: Well said.

I am so glad I saw this thread, I was wondering the same thing. We are going in June and it will be hot, but I will take the dress, anyway. My question is, where can I get ribbon to use as shoelaces, I always wondered that??

Add another vote to the "bring them" total!!! My DD loves to wear hers to the character meals, and then we take them off to walk around the parks. The one exception was last Jan. when we bought her a Snow White costume at Tinkerbell's Treasures at the MK. It was late afternoon, and starting to get a bit chilly, so we let her wear it over her clothes. We went over to Epcot for dinner at Marrakesh before Illuminations, and we ran into someone who gave her lots of special attention (See below)! I just wish she had had on her Jasmine costume; how cute that would have been! :cloud9:

Do you have a Wal-Mart or a fabric store nearby? Just get a yard and half of thin ribbon or a small spoon of thin craft ribbon and cut it to shoe lace size. Make sure and put a drop of super glue (or Fray Stop) on the ends to keep them from fraying out.
