Any tips for wearing a mask all day? Hubby and I both work from home so we dont wear masks for any long period of times. Wondering about how to relief back of the ears or getting sweaty under the mask in the summer. Any advice is appreciated.

Finding a good fitting mask that doesn’t tug too hard on your ears is important. Also taking breaks is key. On my last trip, I never wore my mask more than a couple hours at a time due to snack breaks, water breaks, and meal breaks. Take advantage of the mask rest areas! As for dealing with sweat, when it’s hot out I bring a mini pack of face wipes to freshen up every now and then, but sweat is inevitable in Florida.

Buy some mask extenders before your trip. Many are available on Amazon, for example. It'll save your ears. We learned at WDW this past week that there are NONE for sale anywhere on Disney property. Not even at Disney Springs.

Look into dri fit/breathable ones. Spend the money and wash out each night. Adidas brand i got for the guys and Athletha brand for the ladies.

You might practice at home by wearing them for longer periods of time to get used to how they feel. Take some time to find the type/fit that is most comfortable for you before you get down there and stock up on those.

My DH and DSs wear Reebok ones and they are awesome. Super comfortable, not too hot, stay in place when you're talking, don't tug on your ears, dry fast after a wash, hold up well. We get them in a 3-pack at DSW for $30. Highly recommended.

I made up some homemade mask refresh spray that I carry with me too. 1 oz distilled water, 1 oz witch hazel, 3-6 drops of peppermint or orange (or both! or whatever scent/oil you are partial to) essential oil mixed in a travel size spray bottle. A little spritz on my mask after wearing it for a while really helps me feel fresher.

Breathable and washable are the way to go. We have to wear them at the gym so we got used to them but you have to change them often when your there and I agree you need to take some breaks from wearing it when you can

I have never worn one outside in the heat. But did end up in part of our building that was in the mid 80s. I started sweating in about five minutes and realized that I would be miserable in 90+ humid weather. That made me write off going during the summer months. 😕

I got some "Face Mask Extender Straps" from Amazon. Package of 4. Eliminates the ear pain for long times. Living in Florida in hot weather I recommend using the disposable masks and replacing them often.

Disposable ones are safest and to me also most comfortable, I spend 8-10 hs a day with a mask (healthcare...) and can hardly feel them anymore.

Also easy to replace if it gets too sweaty or even lost, and no need to wash on vacation.

Re ears - try until you find the best size for you, there *are* sizes. Also, get small bandaids to put behind your ears, helped DH through some days.

Fyi some cloth masks are not as safe since they dont have triple layers. Do the candle test if in doubt - you shouldn't be able to blow out a candle with your mask on.

Have a great and safe trip.

And if you wear glasses (as I do), may I recommend a spray called Fog Gone. It has absolutely saved my mask-wearing life. A small squirt on each side of your lenses, a few seconds of rubbing in a circular motion, then let dry and wipe gently with a soft cloth. No more fogging up.

We bought some of those plastic cage things from Amazon and they are great. They lift the fabric of the mask off your face and stops it from inhaling up your nose or mouth. My mum is in a mask 8+ hours a day (and we are in summer) and finds it much more bearable with the cage.

For glasses wearers: I've tried all kinds of contraptions and sprays (which don't work due to the coatings I have on my glasses) and nothing worked. I ended up buying some Vera Bradley masks at Target that had an opening on the bottom to put an optional filter in. Instead I took a kleenex, folded it long way into a one inch strip and shove it up inside the mask so it lays over the bridge of my nose and cheeks. By far the most effective way I've found to not fog up glasses. The only drawback is that these particular masks aren't ear loops, but go behind the head which is a bit of a pain with my long hair.

I get dry mouth so to help with that, I try to have a hard candy for when I can't grab a drink.

i wear the disposable one under a cloth one. Change out the disposal one if it gets sweaty.
