Wearing glasses on the rides

I wear glasses, and I absolutely cannot see without them. Is it safe to keep them on while riding the rollercoasters or should they be removed?

i have worn my glasses on all the rides and never had a problem. as long as your glasses are fitted properly, you should be fine. Ive been on rock n roller coaster with them, the hulk, dueling dragons, etc. and i never once felt like iw as going to lose them, or even had the thought cross my mind.

sunglasses though, are another story as most people just buy ones in a store and they arnt fitted like prescription glasses are. so be careful with those.

I agree...definitely watch the sunglasses....even on the Pirates' water slide drop!

I don't wear I glasses but I do wear my sunglasses. I never take them off unless I'm inside in the dark. I have those strings for glasses attached to them. If I feel like the ride is to wild as I'm on it I will just drop the glasses down on my chest.

I just cannot see at all without my glasses and have never taken them off on any ride at WDW or Universal, never had a problem and I have never even felt them move like they would come off..If they are fitted regular glasses you are fine...so have no worries.... :sunny:

Your glasses should be 100% fine on all of the rides at WDW. The rides are not extreme (at least not to one very used to Cedar Point coasters and glasses I have worn there have always been fine as well) and so long as your glasses are not incredibly loose they should stay right on. However, for some of the water rides you may want to attatch the little glasses holder to them for the added security. I doubt you would need it but that makes some people feel a lot better.

Sunglasses fit people different and tend to be lighter however, so definitely attatch strings to your sunglasses.

I wear one of the little elastic sport straps on my glasses when on a ride, just to put my mind at ease. I bought it at a souvenir stand at WDW by the sunglasses they sold for about $5 or so. (I know you can get them cheaper at Walgreen's or somewhere, but those ones don't say 'Walt Disney World' on the back :earboy2: )

I have prescription glasses, but my frames are almost like oakley sunglasses with the stems not wrapping around my ears, they just sit there (very comfortable) and I know that I used to worry about my glasses on rides. Most times I just make sure that my glasses are pushed up on my face, so they aren't just sitting on the edge of my nose. I haven't had one problem at all, even when I go to Busch Gardens. So don't worry about the rides at disney, plus, the gravity pull on most rides will hold your glasses to your face.

I lost my prescription glasses on space mountain. In hindsight (no pun intended), it was my own fault. I had ridden it many times before with them on, no problems. This time, just as the ride was ending I went to adjust them around my ears......well the ride had not really ended....you know that sharp turn just before the exit? Well, voila!! As I'm adjusting, we turn and I flip them off myself!! I have since taken care of the situation by getting the LASIK surgery....one eye only!! ;)

A good friend of mine lost his glasses on Space Mountain. I don't know how well his glasses were fitted or anything...

I wear my glasses on every ride. Haven't lost them yet. :goodvibes

I wear my glasses on all rides. My mom asked what i did w/ my glasses and what she should do as we were getting on RnR. I told her I just make sure they're sitting on my nose like they usually do and then enjoy the ride. She remembered when she first went on roller coasters (years ago) that they told her to take them off. I have never done that and have never had a problem on any ride anywhere. The forward motion of the ride does help plaster them to your head. ;)

Well if you wear sunglasses and you put them on your shirt so you can oh I don't know lets say the ride of TOT, make sure you hang on to them. If not you will walk out and forget them. :confused3

Not realizing until you get out and it's :sunny: do you realize that you need to put on your :smooth: and remember that there on the ride . You go back and realize that you have to buy sunglasses at Disney. Now for many of those that have never bought :smooth: at Disney, they will probably end up costing you around 17-20.00. And then even to this day, you still wear them even though they say Walt Disney World because you spent that much on them and hey, it brings back memories every time you wear them. :earboy2:

I haven't had any problems either with my glasses when riding the coasters. On my one and only Test Track ride, I did feel the need to hang onto my glasses when we were on the outside track. But that could just be me :)

I took my glasses off for Space Mountain and really didn't enjoy the ride. I've worn glasses on everything else(including RnRC) and never had a problem. :earsboy:

I only have issues with glasses in England, as they tell you to take them off, even in swimming pools slides ? For that reason I got a set of presription swimming goggles. These have proved super sucessful on all types of rides as not only do they stay put like glue, they don't vibrate and keep any wind out of your eyes. The downside you look weird, but then again your not taking the ride to look good and not being able to see where you are going is a waste of the entry fee.

There's another thread about this I didn't realize was so old but I'll post here what I posted there, I take an old pair of glasses with me to wear for rides.

I wear bifocals & they're too expensive to chance losing so keep in my purse an old non-bifocal pair in a case & do a switch before riding so I can still see the special effects. This way if I were to lose them, they're backup and I wouldn't be too upset about it. I still use a sports strap to hold them in place.

Just remember you will most likely be sweaty. If your glasses slide down or come loose when you are out doing yard work or whatever then they will probably do the same thing at WDW. If vision is absolutely critical then definitely have either a spare pair or use a retention device of some sort as it is very easy to dislodge glasses on the shoulder harnesses of some rides, get them knocked askew by a neighbor, or shaken off by an unexpected turn or twist of a ride.

But Space Mountain is the one ride where being "blind as a bat" wouldn't matter, or may even enhance the experience, since it is supposed to be pitch dark in there anyway :P

I have worn my glasses on every ride at Disney without problem. I have worn my glasses on many of the slides and tubes at Disney (only taking them off if the CM insists) Talking about the water parks here when I said slides and tubes.

Agree. Nothing Disney has is intense enough for me to be concerned about my glasses.
