wearing glasses on the rides

Sometimes I wear my contacts, mostly during the day and glasses at night. I have never had a problem on any of the rides at WDW, with the posibility of loosing my glasses. As far as BB, I don't know why you would think your DD would have to remove her glasses. When I'm at BB I wear my contacts. And when I wear them, I always wear my sunglasses. No matter what slide I go on, and the no one has ever asked me to remove them. I hope this is of some help.

Have a great time!

u can wear glasses @ bb (except SP and SG, she will have to hold them in her hand). but be careful, they do fall off (some of the ends of the rides u might flip, or go under water), and it may take about 30mins+ for someone to come find them for you in the catch pool. so maby if you have cord so if they fall off they will stay on ur neck and wont be lost :bounce:
enjoy ur trip!!!!

This very thing happened to DH. The whole week he'd been fine wearing his glasses, so he didn't worry about taking them off at BB. At the end of a water slide, his tube flipped him upside down in the water and he lost them. We both freaked out (as DH is very dependent on his glasses) and I thought we'd never find them in all that water. But a CM dove down and found them (as well as someone elses sunglasses!).

BTW, He had one of those cords around his neck

One other thing...

if you do decide to remove glasses while on rides and put them into a fanny pack, backpack, etc. Put them into a hard-sided case. That way they won't get crushed in your bag.

Who wants to be worried about losing glasses while you are having fun? Get them adjusted so the fit is snug, but for water parks and some coasters, I'd get a CROAKIE just to be sure.

My DH is on the verge of being legally blind w/o glasses. There is no way he would enjoy rides or water parks without them; he literally cannot see his hand in front of his face without his glasses.

The answer for security is a CROAKIE. Not an "eyeglass string" that has little loops that go around the earpieces at the temple; those are not good enough for active pursuits. A Croakie is a tube made of neoprene rubber, and it is short. You insert the earpieces of the glasses into the ends of the croakie, put the glasses on, and then slide the croakie ends further toward your face until the glasses are tight on your head. A croakie will hold them on your face even if you hit water head-on. (And if you don't have it tight enough, and your glasses do come off, they will float; the croakie is rubber.)

Croakies are available all over the place in Florida, even at drugstore counters. Further north, look at a sporting goods store.
They cost about $6; well worth it for peace of mind.

I have worn my glasses on every ride at WDW with no problem or close calls. There are a couple ground rules I follow:

1) Never look sideways while on a ride. As long as you face forward the air rushing at you will actually press the glasses into place.

2) Keep your arms down along with those in the car with you. Waving arms can knock glasses off if the car suddenly

I've worn my glasses on everything - all the mountains, RNR, never felt like I was going to lose them. I do wear eyeglass holders string things around my neck and I always travel with an extra pair and my prescription. I did lose an earring on space mountain once!

My DS 10 has very poor vision and without his glasses would miss out on a lot of the visual parts of the ride. He has never taken his off and never had a problem. I did buy the croakies last trip but I forgot to take them!!He has ridden everything.

Khawk, My DS will be 11 in June and is going on Friday to be fitted for contacts. His Dr had said 13 but because his glasses are so thick and he is pretty mature she said Ok. The visit is 80.00 and includes fitting, classes on usage , and a trial period supply to see if they will work before you purchase any more. My DS will still have to wear a thin pair of no prescription glasses to protect his "good" eye from damage. We hope this will work.

He has a pair of prescription goggles also, that I had hoped he could wear at the Water Park. We have never done one at WDW. He does not wear his glasses at the pool at home but could not safely get around the water park without them. I know little about contacts so I am not sure how they will be in this situation. He will want to go on all the BIG slides. Any clues?
