wearing dresses/skirts with "shorts" underneath?

I've only been to WDW once in August. I don't generally wear shorts in summer - either knee-length skirts or capris. I wore skirts almost every day in the parks. I think on Space Mountain I might have flashed the CM getting out, but otherwise I was fine. It was so stinking hot I couldn't imagine wearing anything but a light skirt.

It looks like the same material Under Armor is made of? My husband always wears his Under Armor, even in the summer, he swears that it keeps him cooler. I just can't stand wearing something skin-tight myself.

I wear skirts at Disney all the time - not miniskirts but usually knee length or just above and I've never once been worried about flashing anyone. :confused3 And I can't imagine wearing the shorts linked in this thread under a skirt in the Florida heat!

I would go with Nike, Underarmor, reebok, etc. These are companies that make shorts that are moisture wickings, and designed for the heat. I like to buy the little underarmor ones.

You could also look at golf skirts. They are created to keep women cool, and covered up. I really like golf skirts. Tennis skirts have the same concept, but they are usually much shorter. I would go to the local golf store or country club and see what you can find.

Those look really hot, and uncompfertable! (I have some, wore them to a wedding, took them off and stuck them in my purse half way through!). I bought my dd3 something called monkey bar buddies. They are great, made of bathing suit material, and she never complains about them. I paid around 20 bucks for them, but she wears them with all her dresses. Anyway, since I am guessing it is you who wants to wear a dress, what about work out shorts? Most of that material is breathable, and wont be so tight. I am talking about the shorter, lycra (I am guessing), form fitting shorts. IDK, I just think body shapers are uncompfertable, and hot!

Glencora, it says it has a side zipper. Yikes! I don't know about you, but the heat makes me swell in all the wrong places and with all the wonderful food that is all around, I don't think this would work. I wear elastic banded shorts and skirts with tops that are a little longer. That way the band doesn't show and when I do eat, I have the top to cover my bulging tummy!:lmao:

I haven't worn a dress in years and years but have thought about maybe a sun dress one evening. I couldn't imagine wearing some of these tight things underneath though. I agree that some light exercise shorts might be best.

Good points. I usually don't tuck my tops, though, so my top covers a multitude of sins (as they say).:rolleyes1 I think I might just order it, and if it doesn't seem like it will work, I can always ship it back. Although at that price, it would probably cost more to return it than keep it!

For those who have worn skirts... I was thinking of getting this:

Does it look like the kind of thing that would work, or do I need something that's not cut quite as tight? TIA for any advice!:goodvibes

That skirt doesn't look too bad to me. :) I've found light cotton skirts to be the best at WDW. It's the side zipper that scars me - unless that skirt is really well made - I have visions of the zipper popping open.

I wear skirts or dresses when I can tear myself away from my precious cargo shorts. (Men's department at Target on clearance) :)

Personally, I found Spanx to be very uncomfortable - they don't wick away sweat, they don't breathe, and the waistband was really high and "rolled" every time I bent over. As always, YMMV.

Yikes! I think a high rolling waistband would make me nuts in seconds. Maybe the super light ones they have out now will work? I might have to break down an go to Kohls and try some styles on - they have different types there that might work. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/womens/intimates/shapewear/briefs.jsp?bmForm=guided_nav_search&SubcatFolderID=2534374755396289

Light control high leg shapewear is great for every day use, it smoothes and flattens the stomach and as it has a high cut leg its great for wearing with skirts, dresses or trousers.
