My son just broke his arm last night and will be in a cast when we go to Florida. We were planning two days at the water parks. He really wanted to go to the water parks. Has anyone ever tried to go to a water park with a cast on. Any suggestions on how to waterproof. I told him we can just find something else to do instead of the water parks. Any suggestions????

Skip the water park. You might be able to protect the cast enough for the lazy river but not much else. Check with the doctor, if it's close maybe they can remove the cast before your trip.

My son broke his arm a month ago and we paid only $50 extra to have the waterproof cast. It has been worth every single penny! He has been able to swim and take baths. It may be too late now, but you might call and ask if there's anyway the doctor could make it waterproof for an extra charge. His is the fiberglass cast. Otherwise I would stay away from the water parks. You'd hate to ruin the cast during your trip.

Check with your doctor first before doing anything. My son broke
his arm last year and the doc restricted him from riding his bike,
going on the swings, pretty much anything that has to do with
the risk of falling and further injuring the arm. That included
swimming. It was awful summer last year for my DS!! You can
wrap the arm in plastic garbage bag when bathing, but I wouldn't
risk going to a water park....

My grandsom had a waterproof cast put on his leg because of his age the dr. put it on him and told his mother not to worry about him swimming or taking a bath.
and if his cast started to stink to come back in and he would put another one on him.

Thanks for the replies. He gets the cast tomorrow. He just has a splint on now. The doctor wanted to wait a day in case of swelling but I am going to ask him about water proof casts.

My daughter had a terrible accident on uneven parallel bars in gymnastics a few years ago and shattered her elbow. She was in surgery for 6 hours and they put her back together with all kinds of hardware. That was at the beginning of summer. She progressed to a regular cast and a friend bought a plastic cast cover thingy at Eckerd's for her. You slip it over the cast and suck all the air out of it. It made her arm/cast absolutely waterproof. She even swam on a summer swim league while she was out of gym for those months. Good luck. Poor kid.
