We'll be at BWV and are planning on MK on the 30th and Epcot on the 31st. It will be our first time experiencing this!!!

All the parks will be hugely crowded until January 3 when Christmas crowds will start their mass exodus. Epcot is one of the "better" parks when there are huge crowds simply because it gives you a lot wider walking areas. Epcot also has extra magic hours in the evening on Jan 1, meaning a number of things in Future World will be open until 9 or even 10. (For extra Magic hours go here: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/calendar/extraMagicHour?id=CalendarExtraMagicHoursPage ). Other things to consider: (a) you probably want to get to Studios before the 3rd to see Osbourne Lights before all the Christmas stuff disappears, (b) if you are a big fan of Splash Mountain, you must hit it by the 3rd because it is going down for some refurbishment after that.

Bobbi - You will the NYE fireworks on the 30th!! If you are a trooper, MK is open until 4am that night!

We like the DHS fireworks on NYE. They aren't big and flashy like MK, but like how they are syncronized the the music. Also, its the only time they do fireworks, except on July 4th.

This is correct. Its definatlely one of the best days to see a variety of shows at MK. We have ADR's at Cali Grill at 9, my bro and his family is going to Crystal Palace at 9 for diiner. 9pm is the perfect time between shows to eat a late dinner, if you are staing for the long night at MK.

MK fireworks are exactly the same on the 30th, countdown and all. The NYE fireworks are one of our favorite shows.

I thought it was Space Mountain going down for rehab?

Space Mountain is supposed to go down sometime in 2009 for a major rehab. It was originally contemplated beginning in Jan but now has been put off, possibly to summer. Splash Mountain is going down for only two weeks beginning Jan 4 just for some needed maintenance.

We've been to NYE twice at Epcot and once at MK. Next time we go for NYE we're gonna try the Studios. Here's my thoughts - if you're staying at BWV you really should go to Epcot. You can literally be back in your room by 12:15. No joke. If you go over to MK expect a long crowded transit back to your room! Go into Epcot with the attitude you're going to take things in stride. Don't stress out! Go to all the shows, walk around the countries, take in the festive atmosphere. Skip trying for Soarin and Test Track, catch those two another day. You'll be just fine! I don't think you'll need to get into Epcot quite as early as you would need to for the MK. Plus, the MK just seems more cramped, Epcot is more spread out.

I have heard the Studios you can get into fairly late and they also do a fireworks show. You could actually sleep in, go swimming if the weather permits, then go into the Studios. If the line for the boat is too long you can walk back to BWV. This will be our game plan next NYE.

We have been once on New Years. We did Epcot for NYE and it was VERY crowded. So crowded you would stand in line 20 minutes at a kiosk just to get a Coke. I felt like I should tie DS (then 7 years old) to me with a rope because if he got a few steps away I couldn't see him. That being said, the fireworks were extra spectacular and I'm glad we did it. Probably wouldn't do it again.

New Years Day we did the Studios and that actually was worse. It was so crowded that the little guy WANTED TO LEAVE WDW!!!

If I did it again, I would hang around at the resort on New Years Day.

We have done NYE 3 times and each time we have enjoyed Epcot's celebrations. I agree that if you are staying in that area, it makes total sense to do Epcot and be back to your room in "no time at all". I'd probably do MK on the 30th and Epcot on the 31.
