Background, we fly at least monthly, party is msyelf and my 2 dd's so we are not unaware of procedures. We know the drill, jewlry etc into the ziplock and into my carryon, no liquids or one 3-1-1 bag. Shoes and coats off and in the bin - well sometimes shoes go in the bin othertimes not. Usually we fly through - although my older dd and I have each been selected for the full body machine 2x.

So - leaving Phi for LAX we load one carryone each, shoes and coats on to the belt, laptop and dvd player in their own cozy bin.

Head through the metal detector, dd one - through, dd two - through, me beep beep. I have no jewlry, I am wearing, sox, yoga pants and a Tshirt, no underwire etc no idea why. Agent lets me try again - beep beep.

Mam we need to do an enhanced pat down, ok fine - just get on with it.

TSA - who's bag is this??? MY 13 yo dd says "that is my bag" ok where is your parent, over there getting a pat down, TSA ok can I re - scan and then swab it. DD, sure. I say we got some Nasty looks from our fellow travelers!!

So the pat down wasn't "lovely" but it wasn't as bad as some have made it out to be, at least for me, this time.

Apparently my dd had all the chargers for both hers and her sisters itouch, phone, ds and dvd player in her bag and it was a tanlge of wires. Next time we will put them in a ziplock and perhaps put them through on their own.

So sometimes despite the best planning things don't go as smoothly as we would like.

Luckly we don't fly again until mid April......

LOL. That's pretty much Murphy's Law TJ. April will go smoothly.

I've had mishaps that have made me family want t deny me.

Funny you said that about Murhpy's law - in additon to our screening woes, one of our bags was damaged and our tickets were messed up so we almost missed our connection in Denver.

My dd' put on her fb status after we landed, Dear Murphy - enough of your Law :)

No need to apologize . . . you didn't "calibrate" the metal detector so it beeped for nothing.

I'm always that person. Doesn't matter what I do, it is always something.

One trip, soon after the 3-1-1 thing I didn't realize my inhaler was considered a liquid.

One time I forgot that I had my small pocket knife in my purse. Luckily it was a small airport and I had time to take it back out to my car.

I had never had a problem with my watch before...............

At that point, dh started a running task list where he questions me while we are getting ready for security. Then we ran into:

One trip leaving DW I had one of those large chocolate covered caramels from Goofy's Candy Co. which looks a lot like C-4 appearantly.

One trip leaving Las Vegas it was my sunglasses :confused3. Seriously, there were like 3 TSA agents looking at my backpack in the x-ray thing. They kept going back and forth with my backpack. Dh kept questioning me about what I had in there. Finally one of the TSA agents asked if I had sunglasses in my bag. They were cheap, $10 Target sunglasses.

On our last trip I was randomly selected to get checked for explosives.

Oh my, Emily. I know this isn't funny, but I laughed out loud when I got to the small knife because a while back I forgot to take my Mace out of my purse before getting to the airport. Thank God, I had to use the restroom and saw it. Into the trash it went. And, I also laughed at the chocolate covered caramels because...on a family vacation several years ago, when my parents were travelling with us, my mother had a package of fig newtons in her bag, which apparently also look like explosives in the x-ray. We still laugh about that to this day. The way I look at it, a sense of humor is always a necessity when flying because often it's a choice between laughter and tears. I'll take the laughter every time. :goodvibes
