This was at Disneyland Hotel. I am posting here to see if this has ever happened to anyone else at any other Disney Resort. Maybe we're over reacting, but when we opened the door we heard water running in the shower, saw items on the vanity and closed the door quickly. By the way it was about 10PM.
When we went to the desk, they admitted they gave keys to the wrong room that was occupied by someone with same last name. I had given my full name and driver's license. They said they were sorry and "an amenity" would be sent to the room in the morning. The "amenity" was a small bowl of strawberries.
Isn't guest security a big deal? What if we had entered the room after they had gone to sleep and turned the lights on and scared them and us worse than we were? Or I'm sure there could have been worse times to walk in someone else's room!
In the morning we found a half used can of chewing tobacco in the closet. We left it with a note for the housekeeper to dispose and a tip. When we came back to the room, beds were made but can of tobacco and tip remained.
The room we were assigned was next to the elevator and we heard the elevator cables smacking against the walls all night.
We called the manager to inform him of all the above. He said he could not refund our night's stay since we were staying on DVC points and asked what he should do. I asked him to do whatever he felt was right. He would not commit to anything so I asked to change rooms and a dinner would be nice.
He switched us to concierge for the remaining two nights with no dinner. (By the way concierge at Disneyland Hotel is no where near that of Animal Kingdom Lodge)The concierge room was smaller than our standard view room and also next to an elevator.
Should I let it go? Is it not that big of a deal to get sent to someone else's rooms
