Our friend just booked his room (at either the Swan or Dolphin) for a buisness conference. He would like us to see if we can add him on to our dining reservations on the nights that we will all be in Orlando. We currently have reservations for five. Is it likely that they will be sitting us at six-top tables?

The restaurant reservations that might be affected are:
Chef Mickey's
Sci-Fi Dine In
Le Cellier

Others may have had different experiences, but as a family of 5 we were seated at a 4-top at CM's with a chair stuck at the end for the 5th person and in a car a Sci-Fi which seats 6. Haven't been to Le Cellier. HTH

OP, does your party include younger kids? If so, you could be put at a four-top with an extra chair. If you didn't indicate kids on your reservation, then you most likely will be seated at a six-top, thus with room for your friend. If that's the case, you won't need to call and change your reservation (which doesn't mean changing---it means cancelling your original reservation and hoping that a slot remains for your larger group.)

That being said, we have never been seated at a four-top for the five of us, always a six-top. Last trip our kids were 15, 13 and 8.

We have had to do this before when adding people. We had to cancel our existing reservation and rebook with what was available. We were going from 4-6 people so it might not be the same as yours. I would change as soon as possible.

Going from five to six should be no problem at all. Just about all restaurant seating is designed for an even number of people at the table, so a party of five and a party of six would all use a table designed for six.

It it is extremely unlikely (and I have refused them in the past) for them to stick a chair on the side which would work to either block access or block an aisle.
