I, too, love AK. It's hard to explain, but the feeling that I get in that park encompasses what Disney "magic" means to me. The things I love to look at include the beautiful flowers, foliage, waterfalls, parrots amidst the trees and vines, leaf and animal prints embossed into the pavement, the bright, vibrant colors of the shops, and so much more. I love grabbing a drink at the Dawa Bar, and just hanging out watching the African dancers and listening to the music. If you get a chance, stop and watch the chimps doing their high wire act in Asia. You can see the Christmas birds while walking through the Maharajah Jungle Trek. They are teeny, tiny, and red and green in color. Don't forget about the bats stretching out their enormous wings. Sort of icky, but oh, so fascinating. Some don't like Rafiki's Planet Watch, aka Conservation Station, but I find the train ride there relaxing and fun. It's a great learning experience when watching the vets and technicians through the glass windows. I can spend hours and hours taking pictures and looking for new things I hadn't noticed before. The Tree of Life is just amazing. I've taken pictures from near and far, one of my favorites being from Asia looking at the TOL from across the water, with it's reflection shining among the masses of lily pads. I'm definitely gonna look for Donna when we do KS. I sure hope she is working then. Take the time to enjoy this park, if you do you won't regret it.
I totally understand where you're coming from. If you're looking for a realistic, working studio, MGM is not the place for you.
However, I am more of a dork for the "showbiz" themed attractions. I go there for the attractions based on movies and music, not for the realistic studio aspects. I love GMR, ToT, RnRC, Star Tours, the Animation Tour, etc. etc. etc.
I definitely see where you're coming from though, and wish the Studios were more fit to your taste!
