We tried a studio at OKW and we are spoiled.

We too love the larger rooms but are new to DVC and have planned lots of trips, so sometimes we are in a studio to save points. It's better than not going at all! We tried VWL this summer and felt the studio was nice and roomy. Luckily the kids are still small enough to sleep together on the pullout couch.

My dream room would be a one-bedroom with the two queen beds. A 1-bedroom still forces someone onto the crummy pullout and a 2-bedroom is just too many points! If they made 1-bedrooms with the 2 queens in the bedroom I would be in heaven! :)

One more silly question about food....

Are there any character breakfasts at Olivias? I know that there used to be, but not sure if it is still there and which characters are there....

Thanks for all of your comments, I'm feeling more and more confident about my decision (I was torn between POLY and OKW; the price and size made the decision)

Not a silly ? at all. There used to be a Pooh and Friends breakfast at Olivia's. I'm pretty sure they did away with this 1-2 years ago. It was Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger. I recall the last time I was there with the characters was Feb '01. Not sure exactly how long after that Disney decided to cut out the characters. It's a shame, because it was a really nice sit-down character breakfast. :(

DW, new DD & I like to take long trips, more than a week, so what we do most of the time is stay in a studio for the first part of the trip and then move to a 1 bedroom. This works great, as the laundry adds up, we are at the time to move. It is not that bad moving when you know you are getting the 1 bedroom last. We have a trip planed soon that will have us in a 1-B at OWK for 6 days then off to a studio at BCV for 2 more and then into a 1-B at BCVs. I hope this is not to much moveing, but had to be done this way. Wanted 2 weeks but did not want to use that many points.

If you think you've been spoiled by a 1 or 2br at the other DVC resorts, don't even try a 1br at OKW! Wow....now talk about spoiled! The place is the same size as the 2br apartment I live in now. The whirlpool tub is huge, the kitchen is huge, you get a real kitchen table, sofa and loveseat, and a full laundry room.

We don't stay in 1br or larger rooms every time, because frankly we don't have enough points to do that and go as often as we like. But we would love to be able to do that someday.

Then again I don't think we'll ever completely stop using studios. For a quick trip where most of the time will be spent in the parks or otherwise out and about....and particularly when the day comes that dh and I can go by ourselves....they will be just the right thing. Though we are actually planning our first trip without the kids in 10 years or so...and will stay concierge at AKL and the Polynesian! After that though, studios would be great...particularly the ones with one bed...though right now we do prefer the 2 beds at OKW because I don't like sleeping on a fold out!
