WE took 1300 pictures I better do a report! (updated 2/20 DONE!)

:yay: I'm happy that you're back!

Thank you TigerKat!:lovestruc

:rotfl: Love the pearville pics! I thought that coffee was pretty darned good too-especially in that heat.

Yes! It was one to watch out for .. It seemed to pack more of a PUNCH the expected!

Loving your reviews! They are getting me excited for the 2009 F&W Festival! We will be there Thursday Sept 24th - Oct 3rd and I'm really hoping that they do a preview night on the Thursday :thumbsup2

Considering that next year's theme is "Culinary Adventures" I'm hoping we get more than a handful of new items.

I'll admit I have my favorites but I'd rather have exciting new items! This year the escargot en brioche were to die for! The goat cheese tart for 2006 was as well. I say keep the new things coming! :woohoo:

I am with you and am hoping that we see A LOT of new things! I understand the riots in the streets will happen if they take away the Cheddar Cheese Soup in Canada-land and a few others but I bet they could come up with something a little more creative then baked ziti in Italy-land or sausages Germany-Land :confused3
We go Oct 16th and are already talking about it! YES! I AM OBSESSED!

It's almost dinner time here and while I will not be enjoying anything as awesome as you had at the festival you sure are making me hungry! :cool1: :thumbsup2
Always happy to make someone hungry! Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

Hi Chelsi Pear! How cute were you guys? :cutie:

I can't believe I missed the frozen Irish coffee. But then again, I didn't eat anything from the Ireland booth, except snagging bits of Irish cheese from the plate o' cheese Catherine got.

That Boxty was the Paula Deen Special. Sometimes, you CAN have too much butter!

Hey Lori!

Yes, Chelsi Pear is what I feel like when I am on my way home from WDW! A bear that can't believe she ate the whole thing! ;)

The Irish coffee is a wonder addition to the drinking around the world and think somehow Disney should make it into a permanent squishie machine like in France-Land! Then I can two fist my drinks .. one hand for Grey Goose Lemon and one for Irish Coffee! Oh how I love vacation!

Oh how I love me some Paula Dean but I think that her cookbooks need to come with a bottle of Lipitor and a home defibrillator kit! :scared1: I am posting a web page I go to and they have a running article called "Is Paula Dean trying to kill us?" It's based on real recipes and so funny!
http://www.seriouseats.com/2007/04/paula-deen-is-trying-to-kill-u.html

We also liked the Irish Coffffffeeeeee but I think they are getting very stingy with the portions ... it was too small for the price tag if you ask me. But perhaps I'm using my recession brain right now? :lmao:

Happy to know that you're back to share more reviews and pics with us! :goodvibes

Thanks Brenda!

Yes, the size - price value is always an issue .. recession or not ..maybe things will change this year since less people are going?:confused3

Hopping over to Hops and Barley

We had the Lobster Roll and 13th Annual Festival Beer
wdw2008jasonscamera087.jpg

Me with our beer
wdw2008jasonscamera086.jpg

We tried the Lobster roll in 2006 when they had it and it was $7.00. At that time it was shockingly higher priced then every other menu item at any booth! It was horrible then, tasteless, lobster, hot dog bun full of disappointment. Being the suckers, I mean troopers we are we tried it again this year. Our assessment of the 2008 lobster roll? It was still $7.00, you could tell lobster was present on the roll but it still was mostly mayo and hot dog bun. Save your money and get a crab cake at Flying Fish!
As for the beer .. I am not a big beer drinker. It's not that I don't like some it's just so filling compared to other drinks that I would rather have the food space! Saying that I loved the 13th annual beer and we love doing the free beer school when we can!

All of your pics look amazing. Great start. Looking forward for more reviews and pics. I'm glad you had a great trip.

Have a nice day. :)

Just was getting set up to update and got your nice note! Yes, food and wine is always a great trip.. thanks for reading!

Off to San Francisco!
wdw2008jasonscamera644.jpg

I have to admit .. (Shun):mic: being from California and going to San Francisco a few times a year with Jason it was kinda sad for us to see the choices that they offered here. I liked some of it but I think the food in the town and surrounding areas are way better they what they came up with. I wish they would have done a cheese offering from Cypress Grove or other places near this area but the booth had good food. It just wasn't overly creative. OK! (un-shun!)

Beef Medallion with Chedder Cheese Polenta
wdw2008jasonscamera338.jpg

The beef was actually cooked well and tender. I thought it was going to be a big hockey puck and I was wrong. The polenta was ok.. not enough cheese for me but that isn't a new thing! ;)

Roasted Beet Salad with Goat Cheese!
wdw2008jasonscamera092.jpg

One of all of our favorites at the festival this year. Maybe it was because of the goat cheese, maybe it's because beets are so good and these were cooked perfect or maybe it's the lack of anything green and leafy in my body for 10 days that I loved this so much!

California Strawberry Shortcake
wdw2008jasonscamera645.jpg

I cannot personally say if these strawberries came from my home state as said but they were good!:thumbsup2

Next booth is Tokyo!
wdw2008jasonscamera101.jpg

Seaweed Salad and Shrimp with Mandarin Oranges and a Green Tea
wdw2008jasonscamera104.jpg

I loved this! I thought it was wonderful and crisp! I had it a couple times at the Festival!

Spicy Tuna Roll and Ozeki Dry Sake
wdw2008jasonscamera341.jpg

The sushi was good, nothing special but good. The sake was wonderful!

California Roll
wdw2008jasonscamera343.jpg

It was a California Roll
::yes::

Drinks offered

New York State Wine Adventure
wdw2008jasonscamera625.jpg

wdw2008jasonscamera626.jpg

wdw2008jasonscamera628.jpg

I have to admit I am not a big sweet wine drinker but we had some friends who went with us that are and they liked a couple of these a lot.

OK!!!!!! I don't even know if anyone will care but I am going to try and finish my reviews.

I care!!!! :)

Jason family (grandfather came to New York when he was a wee lad) came from Ireland and actually from Cork.

My family is from County Cork too! :thumbsup2 I attribute all of my drinking ability to my Irish ancestors.

As for the Frozen Irish Coffees .. I have A LOT of pictures of our group drinking these because everyone loved them but think it's just best to let Pearville explain how good they are!:cool1:

Yep- think this speaks volumes for the Irish Coffee. Must try that next year!!

YEA! Thank you for checking in! I showed your reply to Jason and he said "see WE can't help ourselves!" :lmao:

Great reviews... TFS..

Thank you! :wave2:

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day everyone!
Jason and I just made flight reservations this morning for this years Food and Wine Festival! ::yes:: We are so excited!

So I thought I should update this a bit so it is finished by the time we leave for the next trip!:lmao:

New Zealand is the next booth around the lake for us ...

wdw2008chelsiscamera068.jpg

We had the Lamb Slider and the Private Bin Merlot/Cab.
wdw2008chelsiscamera070.jpg

This review will be easy.. I will just post Jason's picture after tasting this!
wdw2008chelsiscamera071.jpg

So we head quickly to Marrakesh to leave New Zealand behind us!
wdw2008jasonscamera350.jpg

One of the wines at the booth
wdw2008jasonscamera352.jpg

Keftka, Chicken Brewat Roll, Walnut Baklava (Mint Ice Tea not in picture) and a Tabasco taken from the Louisiana booth!
wdw2008jasonscamera353.jpg

I love this booth, everything was really good this year and they have the best tea. I really missed the Ice Tea stand in England this year so it was wonderful to have this option!

As a resident of the Finger Lake region of NY, I feel it's my duty to let you know that I was not all that impressed with the selection at the NY State Wine Adventure. We have some fabulous white wines (never drink a NY State Red, you'll be disappointed.) So if you ever want a nice getaway, come in the summer time, find a nice B&B and a limo and go on a wine tour.

Thank you for the info! We are always looking for new wine adventures and this is a great idea!

Well i'm gona have to try F&W one day!!! sans kids of course lol
Great pics

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, go .. I know you see mixed reviews of everything but it is a great time. We fly almost every year from California for it!

Louisiana - Our Favorite booth?! Maybe?

wdw2008jasonscamera355.jpg

Seafood Gumbo and Crawfish Etouffee!
Which one is which I do not remember at this point from the photo but I do remember that I loved them both but the Etouffee was the best to us! Loved it! We also had an Abita beer ..
