We talk too much....

good morning girls. Had to dig the thread up.

Hope you all had a fantastical weekend. :goodvibes

I went and quilted again with my Mom and Sister. That was fun. Got a couple more blocks done on the twin size quilt I'm making for Chris. Only about 20 more and I'm done!! :woohoo: After quilting I went home and Chris and I just relaxed.

On Sunday I went to church and then we took my In Laws out to lunch for Mother's Day. That was good and fun. I called my Mom to wish her a happy Mother's Day. She said she was having a good day.

We took Lexie (my Maltese/Papillon mix pup) to the In Laws house later that day so they could see her new hair cut. We got her groomed on Saturday and she looks so cute :cutie: I got pictures but haven't downloaded them from my camera yet. Once I do I'll post them here so y'all can see if you would like.

Good morning Carla.

Good morning ladies.

We went Saturday morning on a puppy excursion. Found some shelties for 250$ (AKC/CKC registered), some mini doxies (a red and a tan colored one [breeded had never seen that color] for 400$, and some mini taco bell dogs (I can't spell that name to save my life, so I won't embarrass myself.) for 600$. They also had the cutest things. Poms that were 8 weeks old. They looked like balls of fluff with eyes and tiny feet, and they were trying their hardest to escape the kennel. They were all a bit high, so we're going to keep looking. Buddy's brother has a friend who's family breeds and raises doxies, so we can get one really cheap from then if we want. But alas, Buddy doesn't really want a doxie.

oh doggie hunting. What fun!! :goodvibes Have you ever done one of those quizzes online that tells you what breeds are right for your lifestyle? I'll have to find one and post the link so you can do it. Maybe it will bring up a breed you never thought of before. That's how I found out about the Maltese/Papillon mix puppies and got my Lexie. I don't blame Buddy for not wanting a Daschund. Some of them can be very mean. Shelties are cute and nice though. My aunt has had lots of them and they are all very friendly. LOTS of hair though.

he just thinks doxies look silly. We just need a dog that's not going to tear apart our house this time.

What kind of dog did you have before?

A beagle that we got when she was about 6 months old. She apparently had already learned a bunch of bad habits from the owners. We couldn't teach her anything, get her to behave even a tiny bit, or get her to stop destroying things no matter how much we tried. So a friend of our adopted her from us who had a huge fenced in back yard, and some more outside dogs. Seems she just wasn't meant to be a house dog.

ah okay. Yeah, it is hard to break habits from other owners. I'm sure with a younger puppy you'll do much better. You'll be able to teach it what you want to learn and the puppy won't already have bad habits you will have to break. I think the biggest trial for us on all 4 of our dogs was crate training. The first few nights of whining was awful but after the dog figures out that whining doesn't get them out it was fine. Chris wanted to kill our Giant Schnauzer the very first night we had him. He kept us up ALL night. It's funny looking back on it now, but my GOD that was a true test of will power.

Yeah. My/my dad's doxie went through that with the crate training too. But Buddy's taco bell dog sleeps in the bed at night. He wants our dog to do that, and after we get it potty trained, that's fine with me.

Our dogs don't use crates at night anymore...we just did it for initial house training. Only time they're in there anymore is when we're gone during the day. Hope y'all are able to find a doggie you both like :goodvibes dogs are so much fun

Taking another this weekend just to make sure before we tell the families!
