We Surround Them --- no bashing!!!

Oh, the irony of Mr. Beck being responsible for this. THis is a man who, on the air, advocated "Killing. Every. Single. One. Of. Them." while discussing Islamic political radicals. No questions asked. Just kill 'em all. When talking about the possibility of Shanghai winding up under water due to Global Warming, Beck's response was, "Does anybody really care? I mean, come on! Shanghai is under water. Oh no! Who's gonna make those little umbrellas for those tropical drinks?"

And don't get me started on his belief that the very bad "f" word some call homosexuals is nothing more than "a naughty name" which he took the New York Times to task for not using in print.

Are these really the things someone would spout if they truly had God as the center of their life?

Yeah, Glenn's a real peach of a guy. He also said something about if he were President he'd be saying "what do you mean we're out of missiles??" Yeah, real funny Glenn. For someone with God at the center of his life-he sure spends a lot of time hating people and wishing them dead.

That's a good story, but for the fact that there is not any evidence that anybody's rights have been violated, despite extending handwringing to the contrary.

It's a fantastic story, isn't it? I was simply stating my beliefs in response to a post by honugirl:

"Wiretapping, suspending habeus corpus, holding terror suspects indefintely without a trial and torture is fine with me if it saves lives. Sometimes one must die for the masses to survive. Founding principle of emergency management is: do the greatest good for the greatest amount of people."

At no time did I accuse anyone of doing any of these things. :tilt:

That's the point -- we weren't allowed to have that same right for the past 8 years. We were called unpatriotic and told to leave if we didn't like it.

I couldn't even walk down the main street of my own town without seeing statements like that on signs in store windows. You know how many signs I see like that now? Zero. Not one.

So, there you go, nobody is calling you unpatriotic, and nobody is telling you to leave. When that happens, let me know. I'm simply pointing out what it was like for us for 8 long years.

Wow, I don't know where you live but I NEVER saw or heard any such thing. In fact it was quite the opposite. The press was never behind the Bush administration and the hollywood crowd certainly never was. For the last 8 years, particularly the last 3 , it has been one big republican haters ball.

IMO, he is not a Christian. He is the farthest thing from a true Christian. He's a bad person who makes hate speech and thousands gobble up it up as scripture. As a Christian, I am ashamed of him and people like him.

Uh...right after 9/11. Bush got a TOTAL FREE PASS FOR YEARS!

It's amazing to me how conservatives let Rush and Beck lead them around on a chain.

It is easy to cherry pick a few quotes out that makes Glenn sound foolish. The same can be said for anyone, including President Obama. The problem with picking a statement here and there is that you lose the context of what was said. His program has a lot of things that are done very sarcastically. He also does many comedy bits, which like most comedy, offends some people.

The one thing that he does is blasts both sides of the political spectrum and takes heat from both Republicans and Democrats, but I'm sure media matters doesn't print any of the republican bashing. The point of his "We Surround Them" is that we can all get together and agree on a number of things(Doesn't have to be all). We can all ask for better behavior from both Democrats and Republicans. We deserve better from our Representatives in Washington.

What's funny about that is that I don't listen to Rush or Beck. I can think for myself. Still conservative. Still against what's going on in DC right now. Why? Because I used my brain and thought for more than a minute.

Ah yes. The "they can't think for themselves" argument. Of course there's a difference between liberals all marching in lock-step because they all just happen to be free thinkers who just happen to think about things in the same manner.

So true. I have never listened to Rush and on the rare occasion that I listen to Beck, I find that he is saying things that I have already been thinking.

Obviously you don't listen to him very often. Do you?

This is a project that conservative talk show host Glenn Beck is doing. If you agree with the principles, please do what it says at the end of the thread AND email the info to others who might wish to be involved. If you do not, please simply hit the "back" button.

and here's the link to the web site:

Just sent this to DH at work-I'm pretty sure he'll like it!!

Yep we surround them. That is why most of the country voted for Obama as they didn't like the direction of the right republicans.

And whether you like it or not Bush would be in jail by these standards. Totally true.

These are good principles to live by IF you actually live by them. But I personally know of cases where people who complain about taxes have stated outright they support no charities. Is that everyone - no but there are cases just as there are cases of tax dollars going to things you don't support.

I am laughing at the outrage of some of you when the shoe is now on the other foot.

I am also suprised that some of you agree with these principles since you certainly don't post like you do.

NOT ALL - SOME!!!

Most of these principles sound great on paper. I disagree strongly with how some of them are implemented though. I also find the bit about religion insulting for those who aren't believers in such things.

This just cracks me up :rotfl:

I listen to Howard Stern the most :3dglasses

Why are you insulted by private citizens who believe in religion and say so? You might not agree, but to be insulted?

It's really time for you to get a life. President Bush is no longer the President. Its President Obama. That is what we are dealing with today. Open your eyes, and try and understand what is happening around you.:sad2:

Yea, okay JPN, I'll be sure to listen to you.:lmao:
Thanks ElizK, for reminding me to send our pic in!:thumbsup2

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but there seems to be an inference that you can only be a good citizen if you believe in all of those principles. I personally think that atheists, agnostics and those with other beliefs can be good citizens.

Again, I might be reading too much into it since they mentioned believing in most not all. I just wonder why bother bringing it up to begin with?

Regardless, its an opinion. I can understand not agreeing with it, but to be personally insulted just makes no sense to me...We live in a country where we can all have different opinions and views, why be insulted? To me, feeling insulted is a choice we make.:confused3
