We Stuffed our Faces and Searched for the Tronorail, It's Trip Report Time! *11/3

The activity scheduled was “Wii time” No one was playing Wii when we went in, but Luke didn't seem to mind. He went right to an empty computer station.

Allison found the jewelry making supplies out on a table.

P5230064.jpg

There were a few other people in the room, too. A couple people were watching a movie, some were doing jewelry, and a couple others were coloring. I sat down at the coloring table and found out that I could ask for a whole list of coloring pages at the desk. And so I did. Here’s what I got:

Pretty soon Allison joined me:

It kept raining while we were in there. It was fun to be warm & dry inside while watching the rain outside. A father & son came in later and asked about Wii time. Oh, you have to ask? The CM had to tell the people watching the movie that she had to turn the movie off so she could turn on the Wii, since it was scheduled as 'Wii time'. That was a bit awkward...

Pretty soon it was time to get ready for Boma!

Some time during the middle of the night, I remembered reading your latest installments but didn't remember if I posted or not. Man, it's bad when you wake up thinking of the Disboards.:rolleyes1

Anyway, the food at Morocco doesn't look bad at all. I've always been leery of booking an ADR there because I was worried it would be too "authentic" and we wouldn't like it.

I had to laugh when you said you had your ADRs on Arkansas time and not Florida time. That is so something that I would do. John changes his watch to Florida time but I keep mine on Louisiana time so I can keep up with what time John has to take his meds.

Sounds like ya'll had a nice time hanging out at the resort and enjoying the activities.

More great pictures from the Contemporary/BLT!

OMG, that is crazy they got double vinylmations! That's happened to us too. There are how many different designs yet my sisters and I manage to always pick the same ones. That's why they shouldn't be blindboxed. LOL.

First of all, they have those at Pecos Bill's in MK, and ordering like that is awesome.

Second, that sandwich of yours looked awesome!

As far as your park bag goes--I got a cross-bag-type thing as a camera bag and ended up carrying it for my park bag more than anything because it didn't hurt my back. I'll have to take a look at the Vera Bradley--where did you get it from?

There's something so enticing about touch screens! I love it when I have to go to the bank with Weird to withdraw money and he lets me push the "buttons!" Haha, I'm easily entertained. At Disney, I even like watching the CMs enter in orders when we're waiting for our food!

Mmm, I think I'd like to try the mahi sandwich! Something a little different but still in sandwich form! I love me some bread!

YES, you described the purpose and ease of having a cross-body bag perfectly! I don't think I can go back to anything else anymore. Haha, and I better not since the Lesportsac cost a good chunk of change. I love going to the mall with it because I don't have to worry about a bag slipping off my shoulder as I go through racks of clothes. I also love being able to leave the strap somewhat on when we're at restaurants and put the bag behind me. I'm one of those people that doesn't understand when women leave bags behind them, kind of unattended. My mom got me nervous about those things, haha. Can't believe it took so long to get a crossbody bag!

I had fun walking around the Contemporary with you! What a view! WOW, the monorail is RIGHT THERE! Love it.

Whoa, what are the chances of the doubles?! Is there a way that you can trade it? I liked that I was able to trade my Disney Collector Packs figurines, one for one at Once Upon a Toy. I know Vinylmation is different and more expensive, but it'd be interesting to find out.

Love the coloring pages! When I was younger, my older bro had a Disney coloring book that I LOVED. It had all the different characters IN Magic Kingdom and on the rides. I was so jealous of it, haha. It's now mine since he didn't take it when he moved out, but I still don't feel like it's completely MINE. So I bought one at one of the Disney outlets this past April for $2 or something. Not quite the same as the one my brother had (which I think is still better) but good for now! Haha, I would've gone crazy requesting pics to color!

Hey, great trip report...how many days reports have you got left reallly enjoying them...whats vinylmation im going in 16 days should i be expecting to find theem everywhere? :)

Ha! That's great that you woke up wondering if you'd commented or not!

I don't know about Hunter + Morocco, can't remember if they had pizza or not, but they did have burgers!

And yeah, we were showing up an hour late to our ADRs! :scared1:

Thanks!

I know it! The Vinylmations were fun! I had a hard time figuring out what some of them were, though!

What!?! Touch screen ordering at Pecos Bill's? We are there! It's hard to find time (and room in your stomach) to fit in all the places we like to eat at Magic Kingdom and Pecos Bill's seems to get left out quite frequently for us. Not anymore!

Max got the Vera Bradley bag for me for Christmas. They carry them in lots of Hallmark stores around here, but there is also a website that I've heard has great sales & deals pretty often.

You are right about the touch screens -- so fascinating! :3dglasses (like 3D!)

I love bread, too! I could make many meals out of bread only.

Yay for crossbody bags! I am always paranoid about my purse in public places, too. I don't like putting in on my chair, but putting it in the floor is gross, so I just have to keep checking for it...maybe I'll take my Vera out next time!

Yes, you can trade Vinlymations, that's a big part of it, I think. Most places we went in had these little display looking boxes of 4 or so vinylmations at the register. Those are actually for trading. So, you just trade one for one, or some places have what they call 'blind trading'. They have a big box with 20 or so numbered doors that you can't see through, you choose a number and trade one of your vinylmations for whatever is on the other side. It's pretty fun!

Coloring was always a favorite activity of mine! I think your brother has given up all rights to that coloring book, just own it! :rotfl:

Hey, great trip report...how many days reports have you got left reallly enjoying them...whats vinylmation im going in 16 days should i be expecting to find theem everywhere? :)

Thanks!

I've got about 5 more days to go!

You'll see these vinylmation guys everywhere when you go! There are lots of different 'sets' and you can trade them at the stores in the parks & at Downtown Disney! They're pretty fun!

Ahhh, Boma, Flavors of Africa, how we adore thee!

We left the BLT Community Hall around 6:00 to get ready for dinner at Boma. We hopped in our car at 6:30 and in no time at all we were there!

Max was happy that his favorite, ‘Coconut Curried Chicken Soup’ was on the menu!

P5230067.jpg

AND, we arrived on time, so our name was actually on the list! It was a bit crowded inside, so we wandered out the door between Jiko and Boma to wait out there.

P5230068.jpg

P5230070.jpg

Pretty soon we were being led to our table. And then it was buffet time!

I only took pictures of my plate(s) this time:

P5230071.jpg

My favorites from that plate were the Cous Cous Marrakesh (top right) and the FuFu -(bottom right) -

How about a description from allearsnet.com? FuFu - sweet and white potatoes mashed with coriander and cinnamon.

Did I mention that I love hummus?

P5230072.jpg

That was my 2nd plate.

And my 3rd looked like this:

P5230073.jpg

Yeah, I forgot to write down just what all I’d eaten, but I’m going with ‘Nut Crusted Salmon’ top right, then more ‘Cous Cous Marrakesh’ a corn muffin and maybe some chicken? I really was just too busy eating to bother!

Not pictured was my bowl of Coconut Curried Chicken Stew--this stuff is so good! I bought this cookbook a couple of years ago, pretty much just so I could make this at home.

I always love dessert! My favorites were the Caramel Cheesecake and that little bite on the bottom right that very loosely resembles a football if you don’t look straight at the photo, which was some kind of chocolate cinnamon goodness!

P5230074.jpg

Nope, no ‘Zebra Dome’ on my plate. I had a bite of Allison’s and didn’t really need to be putting another dessert on my plate anyway!

We left Boma, but we didn’t leave Animal Kingdom Lodge just yet. We love to just wander around the place, and that’s what we did.

P5230075.jpg

P5230076.jpg

P5230077.jpg

We also ran into a PhotoPass Photographer and had a couple of pictures taken in the lobby.

When we left Animal Kingdom Lodge we decided to pay a visit to WinterSummerland Miniature Golf!

P5230080.jpg

We played the Winter side this time!

The course was still a little wet from the rain earlier in the day. I love how they’ve got Christmas music playing out on the course, and Christmas lights strung up out there.

P5230081.jpg

We called it a night after that. The next day was Sunday, May 30. We still hadn’t paid a visit to Star Wars Weekends and Magic Kingdom had Extra Magic Hours until 3am!

Subscribing :D

Love the photos you have posted so far, especially seeing those gates for the first time. We can never get a front seat on the Magical Express to get those shots but maybe one day. I have only read up to post 93 and had to just say how jealous I am that your kids got that time with Stitch! How awesome that must have been to play games with him?! My fiance and I are huge Stitch fans so I just had to comment.

Off I go to catch up on the rest of the trip :D

I love wandering around AKL after a meal at Boma--although I love the theming there, I don't think I'd want to stay. But, of course, if I had a savanna view and was really just spending time at the resort and not the park. . .

We're almost on the same day now in our trip reports. Am I to take it you were at DHS that Sunday? If so, I need to see if two of my kids and I are in your pictures!

subbing and really enjoying your trip so far! BLT looks amazing and your view is something I could easily sit and watch for hours!!!

Looking forward to the rest of your trip!

Looking forward to the MK update!popcorn::

I think it will be a pretty big one -- we did a lot that day!

Thanks! The kids both love Stitch, too, so that made it extra special. I mean, they would have thought it was fun to play with, say...Piglet?, but Stitch was super cool!

I hope you enjoy!

We always wish we had more time to just sit and enjoy the Resorts, but it's so hard not to go to the Parks everyday while you're there...it's vicious, I tell ya! I would love to stay at AKL sometime, though.

Yep, we go to DHS on Sunday--we'll have to be on the lookout for each other! :magnify:

:welcome:

Thank you! It was an awesome view--I hope I'll be able to enjoy it as much when we go back without that MK view! I kid, I'm sure I will manage just fine. :goodvibes

DROOLING over the Boma pictures. I want to try that restaurant so badly because the different tastes really entice me, and I like being able to try just a little bit of everything. I'd definitely go for a lot of hummus though; dips are my thing!

Boma is one of our faves :D

Really enjoying the report so far, you have a great view of the MK, I don't think you need to be any higher than where you currently are to enjoy them. Looking forward to seeing what other restaurants you are eating at ;)

Great update!

I think it's so neat all the activities the DVC resorts have for members--like the Wii, movie, and jewelry making.

Boma---Very yummy. I must say thought, that my plate never looks that neat. I think I must cram too much food on one small plate!

Then I'd say Boma is definitely the place for you! ::yes:: I hope you do get to try it!

It's one of ours, too, but that was the first time we'd been in couple of years. Allison specifically asked if we were going there, so we made sure we did! There are just so many restaurants we want to go to, it's hard to do them all!

Oh yeah, we loved our view! I think you'd have a different perspective from higher up, but I really loved being just about level with the Monorail. :cloud9:

I know! They had all kinds of activities scheduled throughout the week--I wish we'd gotten in on craft time!

Boma is excellent! :thumbsup2 I did think my plates looked a little odd with all that empty space in between the food but I didn't want to get things mixed up! I'm not usually "weird" about my food touching, but I wanted to be able to appreciate the flavors of each food separately.

I was really behind but all caught up now!! Funny about ur phone and the times. It was fun to meet you guys. Looks like everyone was having fun so far!

We love Boma too...we always went for dinner but last summer we did both breakfast and dinner....both were amazing!! I love the pressed pot of coffee in the morning...I'm not a fan of WDW coffee, but there and Kona have excellent coffee:cool1:

Glad you're all caught up! I couldn't believe it about the ADR times, either! Next time I'm going to make sure I have my other calendar with me! :lmao:

The meet was fun and we were all having a great time! :goodvibes

I've heard that about the coffee at Kona, but I hadn't heard that about Boma yet. Hmmmm, I'll have to keep that in mind if we stay there. I wonder if they serve it anywhere else at AKL? We're not big on big breakfasts, but I love my coffee!
