I don't think you are a geek at all. I'm totally enjoying my normal copy. Yours looks awesome!!

I just had to add this very dopey thought: you refer to yourself as a DINK, which I understand, so I was trying to come up w/a term for us. Are you ready? Here it is: STINKAH. Yes, ahem, it stands for "Single Total Income No Kids At Home." Whatcha think? (Well, I amused myself anyway.)

Oh, man, am I glad not to be the only HP freak over 13! Love the pictures; thanks for sharing. I know for a fact I'll never be the recipient of the deluxe version. AAMOF, if I get one at all, it'll be because I went and bought it myself (and since I have a BIG birthday coming up this month, I probably will ;) ).

I've been addicted to HP since 2001 ... a little late but not so late that I couldn't fully enjoy the agonzing publishing waits between books, especially between books 4 and 5.

And if you have a really special birthday coming up maybe you should splurge on yourself a little.

I love it! And I read most of the tales online last year after Amazon started publishing them, but I can't wait to read them all myself this time in my own two greedy-graspity hands. :yay:

:rotfl2: Joanne, you're too funny! If you like it I think you should keep using it!

WOW!!!

Way Cool!!!

Now did you rip it open on the front steps in front of the UPS guy or did you wait until you locked yourself behind a specially spell induced piece of pine disguised as your front door??? :goodvibes

By the way... It WAS Pete that coughed up the fur ball, right??? It wasn't a GREEN fur ball??? :lmao:

Well, I've got to admit... the green one only got a little more greener  after the tequila in Cabo...

Love the book! I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. :goodvibes DS9 is now, too. However, he's only read the first 3 books; he got about halfway through the fourth and got too scared.:scared1: He wants to tackle it again next year. (Do you think double digits are that much braver?:rotfl: )

harry potter = awesomeness

i was just watching the movies the other day instead of studying for finals. ;)

i wish i had the money to get it. this coming trip to disney has made me a even more broke college. it will be worth it. deluxe dining. yum. :goodvibes

Wow Bendy, Wish my geeky mate had shared about the book before the SOLD OUT sign went up,i did try Rosie honest...:rolleyes1 .....I know a little book worm geek who would probably sell her twin brother to get her hands on the said book.......:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Love it, Joanne! :rotfl2:

Is that the coolest thing ever? I mean, if you're a Harry Potter geek like me. And if you're not, well ... thanks for humoring me! :thumbsup2

Very awesome! I'm so jealous! Nic would never let me spend that much money on something Harry Potter! :rotfl:

He'll barely let me drag him to the theater to see the movies.

He did sit through the last book's midnight party with me, so I guess I have to give him credit there.

In all seriousness I think it must depend on the child - some are just more sensitive to that kind of stuff than others and I do think there is some imagery and some scenes that are quite powerful and disturbing. I was really leary of giving book #5 and #6 to my oldest neice about two years ago when she was 8, but my sister-in-law had read the books and said she didn't think it was a problem. And my neice gobbled them so fast it made her half-blind aunt Bendy shed a tear of pride ... she's a greader just like me!!

Having said that ... I bawled like a baby at the end of Goblet and at the end of Half-Blood Prince and at the end of Deathly Hallows but my neice just was calm and collected. Go figure. :confused3

Hope your son gets back into it soon - I'm sure he's gonna love it as much as you do! :goodvibes

I like your style ... I would have watched a Potter-a-thon instead of studying too! Deluxe dining, huh? Have a great time and I hope you have some terrific meals!

My dear man of mystery ... I've sent you a missive...actually two. Go forth and read your PMs for I have much to say. ;)

And this geeky person would love some help figuring out what to give her in-laws for the holidays ... since I'm not open to the idea of finding a new and far more acceptable wife for my husband I'm all out of ideas. :rotfl2:

Love it, Joanne! :rotfl2:

If I were a tag fairy (and I'm not ... I'm more of a fart fairy) I would give Joanne a tag that just reads STINKAH! :lmao:

Can you order off the US Amazon and have it delivered to the UK? Because it isn't sold out on the US Amazon, and although shipping would be more expensive, at least you could get it.

To be totally fair I really didn't give Jay much of a choice. When I found out over the summer that Amazon was releasing the book I went online to pre-order it and saw the Collector's edition and said to myself, "Self, that is just too cool to pass up. Order it now and tell Jay he just took care of your Christmas gift for the year."

And I did.

And like a good husband when I told him about it he said, "I'm so nice."

:rotfl2:

And your hubby sat through the release party? Double-jointed thumbs up to him! :thumbsup2

That's pretty much the email that I sent to him ... along with one offering to order it for him if he can't because AFEG holds a special little (not so little) corner of my heart. :lovestruc

This is what I did too, only it was the Kindle.:cloud9:
I was going to order a super special Beetle as well, but I didn't.

I've caught up on your report, and am getting over some jet lag. I had a lot to mention about it, but apparently I've forgotten. Old age?:confused3

Brenda,

Thanks for sharing those SO COOL pics of the collector's edition!:thumbsup2 My DS is getting the regular version for Christmas from his grandparents, after I told them he would love it. They looked at it and said it's got big print and pictures and he'll be done reading it in 15 minutes.:rotfl2: Umm, yeah, but it was very instrumental in book 7, so please believe me when I say he'll want it!

My DS and I are complete Harry Potter geeks (just watched Goblet of Fire on ABC Family the other night, even though we have the DVD, we can't help ourselves;) ). He was so bummed when the HBP movie got pushed back to July '09, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait!:goodvibes

SQUEEEEEE!!!! OH MY GOODNESS, SQUEEEEEEEEE INDEED!!!

It is so cool! I can't wait to take pictures and share the geeky Harry Potter joy with you all (whether you want it or not ... :lmao: ).

SQUEEEEEE!!!! :dance3: :yay: :cheer2:

And I was excited to get a new Stephen King paperback at Sam's Club Saturday...what's sad is that I didn't even know what you were talking about!

Loved the praline bread pudding, of course. Now I want to go make pralines.
