We saw "I, Robot" last night

Does it stay true to the book?

No.

The book, by Isaac Asimov, is actually a collection of unrelated short stories.

I read the book manymanymanymany years ago, so I am relying on my feeble memory.

Some of the points in the movie, such as the "3 Laws of Robotics" were drawn from the stories in the book, but the plot of the movie (if I remember correctly) does not draw from any single story.

::yes:: other than the three laws of robotics, a few characters, and some general themes that come up in many of asimov's stories, the movie really has nothing to do with the short stories called i, robot. dh and i went into it with lowered expectations because of this, but we were both pleasantly surprised. it's a great movie with a great plot on it's own, but i don't really know why they called it i, robot, other than perhaps trying to cash in on asimov's popularity.

My boyfriend and I, along with his brother went to see this Saturday night. We all thought it was Very good. I think I was the only one who enjoyed Will's shower scene...but I Really enjoyed it. (It's nice to see one with a guy since just about Every movie made has one with a girl. It's about time!!)
