We rode Mission Space!!! The ride was awesome and intense!!!

We noticed the earth rotating when we arrived in the morning after getting our Test Track Fast Passes. We had heard on these boards that the ride sometimes opens up at 4:00. We went back at around 3:30 and saw a line forming in front of it. So, we decided to get on the line and see what happen. Well, the ride opened up at 4:00!!! We had a 20 minute wait.

The inside queue was impressive and kept your attention and built the anticipation. There was warning signs all over warning that you better be in good health to ride. Cautioned about spinning and dark, close spaces. We were apprehensive but we had to ride it.

You are placed on numbers then 4 people are put in a space ship like container. Each person is given instructions and are either the commander, engineer, pilot and navigator. Your mission is to get to mars safely. You are constrained in the seat with a over head harness. A control panel moves toward you which has a joystick and a screen that looks as if you are looking out a window. Then you are blasted up to space. The "G" force is extreme. Then a floating type of effect happens while viewing space. Then it gets intense again as you are slinged shot to Mars. Your cheeks feel like they are going into your ears.

Overall the ride was spectacular. We loved it. I didn't get sick but some of the others did feel a little quesy. I would most definitely ride again and can't wait to do it again.

Thanks for sharing ~ Can't wait to try this ride out!!!!

Thank you for keeping me so excited for September (see tag). Whoo HOO!

Thanks for the great discription! Can't wait!

I rode Mission Space also (3 times) during the past 2 weeks. The spinning planet seemed to be the sign that they would be opening up later that day.

Be on the look out for hidden Horizons (the attraction that used to be where Mission Space is) symbols. I found 2 of them, but won't give them away unless someone wants me to.

Yes, there is a height requirement but I don't know what it is.

I also loved the ride. The G-forces are awesome, but it made my eyes water these huge tears. It didn't happen to anyone else in my group so maybe my eyes are weird. I didn't get sick either but heard other people complaining they didn't feel well.

One other thing is you have to put any bags you have in the compartment they provide, a square pull out compartment. If it doesn't fit I was told someone would have to sit out with it. So, if you normally carry a huge bag of stuff you might want to cut back if planning to ride Mission Space. I had a backpack with stuff (camera, umbrella, mug, etc) and it seemed to squish down okay, but the cast members kept warning me that it might not fit.

Really looking foward to trying this out in Septemeber but I think I'll want to make sure to take the max dosage of motion sick pills!
My daughter will make me ride first to preview it. She doesn't get sick but doesn't like the thought of dropping (as in TOT).

Question for your folks...Once you board the capsul, does it then move to lay you on your back for 'take off'? Been trying to figure out how the spin can simulate upward motion for take off and that's the only way I can envision it.

Its exciting since I've been to the world since it first started construction and now its done!

One way or the other, will be one of the highlights of this trip!

HOw bad is it and how long compared to RnR or space mountain. I have doen all those rides but I do get carsick at time so I am worried if it is a long ride. Thanks

We rode Mission Space on July 4th and had no problems. The key is keeping your eyes open and on the screen and your head on the head rest. If you do those things, you will not feel yourself spinning. You will feel what you see on the screen. According to the CM, the ride lasts 3 minutes and 48 seconds.

Remember, don't close your eyes or look around. You will feel dizzy and possibly sick if you do. Just relax and enjoy!:D
