We need an "Owners Only Board"

Hi there,

Could we please have an "Owners Only Board" the reason I am asking is because I am fed up of people doing DVC on the cheap by renting and then critizing things about our ownership and the way DVC is run.

At the very least, could we all ensure that if we post on this board, that we cleary state whether we own or rent "scam"

If this bothers you so much why do you get involved in those threads?

You seem (based on your other thread) to be against renting. At least renting below the $15.00 mark. What you don't realize is that a lot of members were previous renters and probably wouldn't even be members had they not had the experience to rent.

We rented four times before we became members and encourage people to rent if it suits their vacations. They may just decide to become members themselves someday.

"Doing DVC on the cheap" is a matter of opinion. As you made very clear, you expect renters to pay much more than they do. If you are looking to make money you are in the wrong business. My friends and family "do DVC on the free" because I give them my points. Do you consider that to be a scam too?

I can't agree with this. This forum is a wealth on information for prospective owners. EVERYONE has the right to post there positive and negative experiences on here. I don't care if the trip was a freebie from a family member. I am sending my brother to WDW in May on my points (5 days BWV studio). I also paid his airfare, 3 day park hopper MYW tickets for him and his girlfriend and a rental car. He has a right to post his experiences here if he so chooses.

Sorry one more thing: Do you feel better when an owner complains or finds fault with DVC? Just trying to see where you are coming from here. Are you upset that someone complains when they get a "discounted" trip? I'm confused with this one. What is your real motive here? I think Alexander hit the nail on the head.

This "IS" the DVC owners thread...
If you are the least bit savy concerning "Walt's" vision and passion in creating a "Magical Place" where .... "ALL Can Come" ...you'd be pulling in your fangs and minding your own business!!!

Here's a shock for you.....
Owning DVC does not make you or me any better than the renter, value stay family, or off site visitor.
Counting your blessings on being able to have this DVC is more what you should be doing...or just maybe...Get A Life!!!

Sorry, actually part of it includes $500 for spending money and food. Lets keep it to this post, I wouldn't want to ruin my reputation on here. People might start to believe I'm really a nice guy.

Do you think on an owner's board everyone would agree about how DVC is run--- or agree with your sentiments about bad renters or jacking up the cost of renting points? Hardly.

I guess you could start a thread for DVC owners with a bizarre hostility towards renters. You might find some takers.

If you're going to make the decision to rent your points you have to face the realities of the marketplace, and reality is that what you're selling is only worth what you're able to sell it for.

I shop at the Gap but I wait for sales. I don't think I'm hurting their feelings or taking advantage of them or insulting their product. If they could move all their merchandise at retail prices, they would.

Lots of renters end up owning. Lots of non-owner participants in this board have become owners over the years. There's no reason this board shouldn't be a welome place for everyone with a free exchange of information and opinions.

Umm... didn't you just post how we also ALL need to get together and RAISE the rates... wonder where that fits under "scam" ?

(And I am glad to know that I am not the only one who read between the lines and got "DVC owners are BETTER then the outsiders, let's keep them out!)
