After 5 faithful years, our Gateway mouse is dying. I've cleaned it thoroughly, but I think the components are worn out.

What kind of mouse do you have? (Assuming you like it :) )

I have a variety of mice:

an optical trackball at work from Logitech
and optical mices at home from Logitech

I like Logitech's products having used them for years now. The best recommendation I could give is to go optical.

I don't really like the wireless ones since they seem to suck tons of battery life out of them.

I found one in my cabinent today. It was eating crackers.

I agree with Oogie. Go optical. They're not expensive, and way more sensitive to movement than the balls of the past

I replaced my Gateway mouse with Logitech optical mouse last year. I love it and recommend it---and it has a nice range in pricing.

Optical mouses are really afforadable now.

The Microsoft Intellimouse line is quite good.

I especially like the extra buttons for web browsing.

My sister had one too but it already died...of starvation. She found it in the bottom of her washing machine. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Yes, Logitech optical mouses (or any for that matter) are a vast improvement over the roller-and-ball style. Never need a mousepad, precise tracking, and also makes a cool red glow across the keyboard.

I like my laptop's trackpad as well, but it's an expensive desktop item.

That was the first mouse that came to my mind too! :D

I will probably start a war with this, but I thought of Jerry first, Mickey second and then Mighty third. But if we had the Disney channel way back then, Mickey probably would have been first!
