we need a microwave at Pop

I just do not understand why anyone would want to bring toasters, microwaves, crock pots, and Forman grills with them on a vacation to Disney in a regular hotel room at that. I understand snacks and a quick sandwhich to try to keep cost down but really all that seems like way to much work. Oh and before anyone throws out the healthy card we are a family that is very conscious of what we eat and Diseny offers lots a healthy chocies at both CS and TS resturants.

Are you always this much of an ***???

Hardly..... only when I see people being bullied into submission.

It's really quite ridiculous some of the things that are said on the DIS.

Call me anything you want.... but at least I'm not crude and low class enough to call a complete stranger an ***.

I mean really... you insult me because I'm defending someone's right to use a friggin' microwave in a resort room.

I know I know... some people will say it's NOT her right.... but the truth is.... 2 Disney representatives have said something contridicting the advice of the DIS.

I personally would NEVER dream of using a microwave in a POP room... but if OP chooses to and 2 disney representatives say it's allowed.... I support her decision to use it! Period... end of story.

First I have to hit up all the food courts for free butter and jelly packets. Gotta have fixin's for my bread.:thumbsup2

And don't forget while you're in the parks, you can't miss filling up at Cosmic Ray's or Peco Bills' fixin's bars for FREE!

ugh. I hate the smell of bologna. Slightly facetious comment. I have to admit that I have never, in 50 years smelled anyone cooking anything in a hotel. Not even the ones that allow it like Embassy Suites, and condos. Surely many were.

The kids at all three of the colleges we pay for are allowed microwaves, george foremans, etc.

Yeah... I agree. Part of the fun for me at WDW is the food. We are also a very health conscious family... but we're on vacation and eating stuff we wouldn't eat at home is all part of the fun.

1.) You tell the OP to phone and ask.
2.) The OP phones the # you provide and asks.
3.) You ridicule her for believing what they told her when she calls.

OP - tell your husband to order a pizza.

Actually, if one of those representatives you are refering to is the Mom's panel, there is a long disclaimer at the bottom absolving Disney from any bad information that may be passed along. It also states the answers are not reviewed or approved by Disney. If I was on the panel I could state that you could walk from Epcot to the Magic Kingdom in 5 minutes. That wouldn't make it true.

Just my 2 cents worth but If microwaves were allowed in the rooms, don't you think they would be available for rent direct for a daily fee, like the refridgerators are???

Just seems logical to me , plus like everyone said they provide microwaves in the food court for guests use....seems it might be a local fire code law based on room size that they do not have them at the value resorts...JMHO

OP, what does you husband eat at midnight that needs to be heated up? Aren't chips, pretzels, candy, crackers and the like a good enough snack?

A few weeks ago there was a topic here that advised to use the hair blower to heat up snacks and left overs brought to the room in doggy bags.
The posters used the hair blower to heat up fish left overs

from there restaurant meal so a pizza or a hot dog would be no problem at all.

That's just disgusting.

OP, you're a much nicer woman that I am. The only thing I know is that if my husband wanted a microwave for HIS snacks, I would be telling my husband to figure it out himself. This girl doesn't cook on vacation and I don't pack appliances either....except for a flat iron. ;)

There are plenty of snacks out there that don't require a fridge or a microwave :). Simple solution.

Actually - I don't think Disney's policy is clear that you can't have the microwave - what is clear about is that you can't bring food that needs to be heated...

SO that means you have to go buy the food that you want to heat at the food court - since you are already down there - might as well just go ahead and use the FREE microwave instead of lugging one down there or renting one.

My husband often gives me a quick nudge when I go to correct a CM giving bad info to other guests in the parks. It is RIDICULOUS the amount of misinformation cast members give out.

I don't think its even allowed is it? The food court always worked for microwave use for me

there have been a million discussions on this and yes, it is allowed. But for obvious reasons, not encouraged. I know several people and written or called Disney and asked and were told it is allowed. Also, in many of the frig swaps, a toaster is included. We had a toaster in our last frig swap.
