Went out to the mailbox today and found The Real Yellow Pages.

It sure is a shadow of what I remember.

I'm not sure how many pages but measured with a ruler at 1/4 inch. I remember the yellow pages of old at 2 1/2 to 3+ inches.

Who still uses the Yellow Pages?

Man, I haven't received one in ages! I do remember the last few getting really small compared to how they used to be. Now, the classic trick of ripping a phone book in half isn't so impressive! 🤣

A follow up.

Did anyone or their parents deliver phone books?

I have vague memories of there being cases of phone books loaded in the back of our station wagon.

Lol. I didn't even know phone books still existed. Crazy. On a related note, DW's grandmother used to work at a phone switch board. A house would call into the center and ask for someone or a number, and DW's grandmother would switch them to that number so they could talk to the person they were trying to reach.

I kept old phone books at my desk at work for research. People laughed at me until they needed some information that they could not find on the internet, but I found in a 15 year old phone book.
We took a tour of the California State Library and the guide said the most popular collection they had was every phone book for every community going back like 100 years. Big research tool for those into genealogy. And the guide said information from one of their old yellow pages from like 1950 settled a lawsuit. A city alleged that a major oil company was responsible for removing abandoned tanks from a gas station that closed in the 1950s. Problem was the city had no official record of there ever being a gas station there, and the oil company claimed they had no such record. Someone looked in the 1950 Yellow pages and found an ad for that brand gasoline station at that address. At that point the oil company agreed to pay for removing the tanks and removing all the contaminated soil.

1996 my sister was on missionary furlough and she did that in Salem Oregon

Huh.... how do you keep the front door open when moving items through the door???.... it's the perfect wedge

I get at least one phone book every year. It goes from my porch to the recycle bin without ever bringing in my house.

I think we are in the same state. I checked our mail this afternoon & there was the yellow page book also. I was kinda stunned as I haven't seen one in years either.

...I never would've guessed that yellow pages were still being produced in this day and age. Huh.

I can't even remember the last time I saw a real yellow pages book in real life...probably sometime in the 2000s if I had to guess.

When my family used to live in our old house we would get phone books every so often and when we would get one we would keep it but then we would end up with about six phone books we would throw them away. I didn't realize the yellow pages still were existing because with the introduction of online phone books you would've thought the yellow pages were out of style. But do you remember when the Pacific Bell Smart Yellow Pages were huge in the 90's and people liked the format because it was easy as pie to use? But when I was a baby my parents had Southwestern Bell yellow pages and if you were in Texas those phone books were all the rage. Do you also remember the white pages too? I remember my mother and I used to see those books at hotels and I never figured out how people used the white pages because to my mom and me they were an annoying pain to use
