Past cruises, we were invited at dinner to attend the Character Breakfast the next morning. Usually it was the Head Server who passed out the tickets. This past cruise, it was printed on the Dining Rotation ticket and we didn't see it. We were expecting to receive invite and did not. Does anyone know when they changed the way they do this?

Same method in April - no tickets here either. I was expecting them so we asked the servers the night before the last possible Character Breakfast. Luck for us it was ours or we would have missed it too!

So sorry you missed yours!

that's terrible, I think it is explained as being the morning after your animator's night on a non-port day. Server's informed us of ours the night before.

We were on the Eastern cruise in April and had APL rotation. Our breakfast was on Sunday morning and we received tickets from our Head Server at dinner the night before.

It is also posted in the Navigator. I don't even remember it on our dining tickets but our server reminded us.

In March we had tickets in our rooms when we boarded. Our servers also reminded us the night before.

On our May 1st cruise no one mentioned anything to us and it was simply printed on our dining ticket in the stateroom. I knew which day it was supposed to be (thanks to all of my DIS friends!) Another family who was travelling with us skipped it on our assigned day but went on a different day and they were able to accomodate them.

we overslept.we were there by the end,but we live next to disney so we were not that dissapointed.

We skipped ours, too. It was our first Magic trip and therefore our first character breakfast but we also go to WDW a lot and do character meals there. Didn't feel like we HAD to see the characters and it was a good day for everyone to sleep in without an alarm and catch up from several days of sleep deprivation!

On the bottom of our dining schedule ticket in real small letters it said when/where character breakfast was. We probably would have missed it had our waiter not mentioned it to us the night prior.

Sorry you missed yours.:(

With all due respect, the "character breakfast" on DCL (as well intended as it is) is a joke compared to what you experience at something like the Royal Table breakfast at WDW.

We've experienced both, and both my children made this point during our character breakfast on the Magic without any prompting. Why?

Well, on DCL, the "character meal experience" breaks all the rules for how to do this properly: you get very few characters, it isn't intimate and your "face time" with the "starring guests" is incredibly short (my daughter still fondly remembers her 5 minute private discussion with Sleeping Beauty at our Castle breakfast at WDW. Her time with the characters at the breakfast on the Magic ? About 20 seconds).

In other words, if you miss the "abbreviated, rushed Chip and Dale Show" on DCL, I wouldn't exactly lose sleep over it.
