We had a great time at the Swan! :) It was our first time, so we were a little nervous, but the whole experience was great. :) I posted my trip report on the trip report forum if you're interested in hearing more. We had a lovely room, the hotel location was great, and I'm ready to answer any questions about the hotel or make comparisons for anyone who is wondering. :) Just let me know. :smooth:

:D Happy you had a magical stay at the Swan. As you can see by my avatar - I am a S/D fanatic!!!

Glad you enjoyed your stay. I think the Swan and Dolphin resorts are one of the best kept secrets at WDW!

Ditto the above! Glad you enjoyed your trip - the Swan and Dolphin are great and sure can be the best value for money at WDW!

Hi

Just wanted to know a couple of questions for I am going to be booking at either the Dolphin or Swan next June.

1.) How close is the Swan to MGM and Epcot in comparison to the Dolphin?

2.) I will have an 8 yr old. What hotel do you think would be best and why?

Thanks for your help

Connie

PS What happpened to the pic of Anthony?

The swan is right across from the Dolphin and actually you have to go by the swan on your way from or to MGM (using the walkway).

I think your 8 year old would be wow'd over by the Dolphin more than the Swan. The Dolphin lobby is more festive, plus at the Dolphin you'll find the arcade, Tubbi's Buffeteria (their version of a food court) for 24 hour snacking or main meals, and the cute Dolphin Fountain for cheeseburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheeses, & hot fudge sundaes. They also have a vintage juke box cranking out old tunes and sometimes the wait staff will get up and dance.

Glad you had a wonderful trip! You can't go wrong with the S/D on so many levels! I am going now to go ready your trip report!

Definitely the Dolphin for your 8 year old. There really is nothing for kids at the Swan... it's just more of an adult atmosphere. The walk to the boat is the same no matter which resort you're staying at... but the walk to the Boardwalk area is shorter from the Swan. :)

We are staying at the Swan for one night in October for the first time (moving to OKW the next day). We will be arriving about 10pm. What are our chioces for food that late on a Saturday night? I read in the Official Guide that they have Room Service available 24 hrs. Has anyone used Room Service at the Swan or are there other restaurants open? We are planning on heading to Mini. Golf when we get in, but may be hungry before or after. Thanks for any and all your help.

Thanks for taking the time to post. Wonderful report, especially from someone whom has visited SO many WDW resorts. ;)
I'm pleased to read you enjoyed the Swan so very much. Welcome back, and again...thank you for the positive post.

I think the Dolphin has more for kids than the Swan. It has Tubbies food court, and is a tiny bit closer to the grotto pool. I love the Dolphin because of it grand lobby and location. We are going back in Dec for 15 nights and can't wait! My 13 y/o LOVES the Dolphin! Happy planning!

We are planning our trip for next Oct (2004).
I have been using the WDW website to get info.

How many people are permitted in the Dolphin or Swan rooms?

There will be 5 of us.

Thanks
Lisa
