Great check in! We flew from Detroit to MCO.

Great flight!

They gave us the Emergency seats on the way back(from Orlando) which was great as my shortest of 3 sons is 6'2!

Everybody was SO nice to us!!!:D

The price was great compared to other airlines esp NWA!!

we're using them in October leaving from Detroit as well and I can't wait!! What are emergency seats?

I think the OP meant "exit row", the seats by the emergency exits. Typically these seats have more legroom. A good website for checking seat quality on the particular aircraft on which you'll be flying is SeatGuru .

Whoa, look at my countdown timer! YAY!

We just got back 6/28 - and flew Detroit to MCO. No problems OR wait on either leg. Friendly ticket staff, fast check-in, no security problems.

Flight leaving Metro was for 7:25 a.m. - we arrived at 5:30 a.m. and was waiting in the terminal by 6:00 a.m.

Same coming home - except flight was 7:40 p.m. - got there about 5:30, was thru luggage check and security and eating in the concourse by 6:00.

Would use them again in a heartbeat...............::yes::

Yes, I guess they're called Exit seats not Emergency seats even tho that's how we refered to them!!!:teeth:

We had to give the Flight Attendant a verbal agreememnt (each of us) that we would help other passengers in an emergency!!

There was plenty of leg room. My 6'6 son sat comfortably without his knees banging into the seat in front of him.

We have frown from DTW to MCO on Spirit 3 - 4 times over the years and have always had good luck with them. Our only issue was the airport itself. On our last trip (Oct 2003) we flew Airtran out of Flint Bishop airport. They have one direct flight to MCO per day, and one direct return. Paid about $220 per person. The airport is much easier to get around in since it is a fractin of the size of Detroit. Parking is also much more convenient and less expensive. All future flights to WDW will be on Airtran for us.

Glad to hear your experience on SPIRIT was a positive one. I am using them to fly from DTW to Denver in a couple of weeks, so I'll let you know how that goes.

Next week, I am flying SWA to MCO. Could NOT beat their price!

DITTO! We loved Spirit for so long, but hate Det Metro. Flint is very close to Lansing and the airport itself makes it easier. I would compare Spirit and AirTran as equal! The only thing I have noticed is Spirit raised thier prices considerably. :D

I'm another fan of Spirit. Spirit flies directly out of ACY, and their prices are competitive with any airline out of Philadelphia. The ACY airport is much easier to navigate and much more customer-friendly than Philadelphia, so that is a selling point right there. Two thumbs up for Spirit!

Oh, how happy I was to read this thread! We are flying Spirit for the first time, Chicago to Orlando, on Oct. 21. We were nervous flying an airline that we didn't know much about, but seemed to have a good track record. Our tickets were $146 each. :teeth: I think at one time they were down to $126, but I missed that price  .

Thanks for helping those of us new to Spirit feel a little more relaxed!

We are also using Spirit out of O'Hare. Thank you for posting!

fleshju-let us know how your trip went. We will be going in Jan. and would love any insight you can share!

Happy travels all...

We flew from Detroit to Orlando with Spirit in late August. We had to leave early because of Frances. I couldn't even get through to Spirit after multiple attempts. The airport closed so we ended up renting a car and driving home. Spirit has so far refused any sort of compensation. I realize it was my choice to drive home but I would have had to wait several days before I could fly out and I had a job to be at and didn't want to ride out a hurricane with my daughter. We would have had to pay several extra nights at our resort too.
I know a hurricane is an act of God but Spirit sure wasn't well staffed the day I was trying to get through and they sure don't want to talk to me now!
The flight down was okay but I will chose another airline next time. Lucky thing the flight was cheap! I guess you get the service you pay for!

Another happy Spirit customer here! We fly out of Atlantic City all the time. The airport is much nicer than Philadelphia!

Does Airtran allow advance seat assignments? That's one perk that is important to our family with small kids, and I know Spirit does if you book with them online...

We're also using Spirit from O'Hare to MCO. Since we did not get our tickets thru Spirit I know we cannot get seats ahead of time. Does anyone know if you can use curbside check in with Spirit when you don't have assigned seats? Or does Spirit even have curbside?

Thanks so much!

Sheri

We're flying Spirit for the first time out of Detroit very soon. Glad to here all the positive things.

I know DTW is very large but I don't have a problem. I park @ Qwik Park w/coupon I get 2 days free parking. Take there shuttle to the airport and get dropped off at the door. Qwik Park shuttle drivers are very helpful with luggage. I have parked at other lots near DTW and the drivers wouldn't even get out of there seats to help. I'll be flying alone with 2 kids on my next trip and I need all the help I can get.

to start flying Providence to Orlando anytime soon? Do you get seat assignments on Spirit Air?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I was able to get seat assignments when I purchased the tickets. Also you can get your boarding passes online starting 45 days from departure.

I don't know anything about there upcoming flights.

We've flown Spirit several time out of Atlantic City, NJ. Their rates don't tend to jump when you're flying on short notice. And the best part? Free Parking at the AC airport!
