We love Donald Duck, oh yes we do! - Link to the PTR - COMPLETE

Just read the KSC update. Super cool. My parents just went in Feb and loved it. They said there was no way to do it all in one day.

Have you ever seen the seagulls at Epcot. In 2007, we were near the french frie stand that sells McDonalds fries (or at least they did then) and seagulls were hoovering over people as they walked away from the stand. Practically attacking and they were TOUCHING the people. One lady was freaking out and running, (as I would) but the seagull never gave up and kept after her till she threw some fries his way! :sad2:

After reading about Henry's illnesses, I think it is most definatley nerves. Kids get that sometimes. They notice that things are normal and though they are having fun, the nerveness of not being in a normal routine plays with the innerds. And dairy only irritates that even more.
I do know htere has been times where I had a really rough time and was a bundle of nerves and wa sick from both ends till things got back to normal.
My DD also (like I said before ) thrown up on our two trips to WDW. Also we do some traveling in the summer for DH's hobby, and she has gotten sick a few times then. I chalk it up to over stimulation and nerves for her too.
We leave tomorrow for WDW and I am praying we can make the week without throwing up once! :rolleyes1

You have corn dog nuggets on your ticker!!! :rotfl2:

KSC looks so super cool!!! The last time I was there was in 1987 -- wow, has it changed and grown! I am so going to have to figure out a way to fit it into a future trip -- the hard part will be tearing myself away from Disney long enough to make the journey. ;)

Last time I went there was 1974! LOL! I was 5 and I remember being so bored, but I would love to go now.

That Mickey bike pic was taken 2 years ago. It was the barrier. I don't know if we went in last year or not. I'll have to look this year and see if it is changed. Mickey's house is definatley not as fun as Minnies. It seems like we went through fast last year because DD only wanted to do Minnies? :confused3
We leave tomorrow, so I'll try to look this week! :cool1:

JEN (JENSEIB) - HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!! ENJOY and bring back lots of pics! :goodvibes (you are doing a TR, right? I haven't read through your entire PTR yet....)

That is awful about the birds at Epcot! Ugh. The only time we had problem birds at Epcot was at the Fish & Chips stand in the UK. They just sat there and patiently waited until Henry either dropped something, or we threw something their way....so it wasn't too bad.

I think nerves/mixed up routine was part of Henry's issues. He was going to bed late each night, we tried to keep his diet as normal as possible, but some meals were off - in addition to eating sometimes at stranger times, and the overstimulation of Disney! I had no idea about dairy aggravating a bug or issues like this until after the trip. I've learned dairy is one of the hardest things for kids to digest, so avoid it until they are over it. Makes sense!

I REALLY hope you have a sickness free trip!!!!

I look forward to hearing what Mickey's is like for you - maybe they just had the yellow ropes up that day for some reason? Who knows!

Thanks. I can hardly wait now. I jsut want to go to bed now so we can get up and head off to the airport. LOL!
Yes, I'll do a trip report. I'm a big picture taker too. I have a Rebel XTi. I love it. I also have a Canon Point and shoot, so I take both and do shots with each. That way I don't have to lug the big boy to the parks each day.
Thanks for reading my pre-trip report. It's the first one of those I ever did. :cutie:

We are doing a few new things this year, so I am excited about that.

I had the Shamrock Shake the other night and it was so delish. Just like I remembered. DS loved it too.

DH would thoroughly enjoy the KSC and a space pen. He is such a nerd.

OH MY WORD! YOU WENT TO SPACE CAMP! You so fulfilled the dream of millions of 80s children!

That is so very cool.

I gotta tell Joe. He's gonna be insanely jealous. He wants to take Henry on one of the 2 day/overnight adventures when he's older. How long were you there? What did you get to do? Details! Hijack my thread please! :hyper:

WDW + Space Camp. What a trip! I really hope we get to do that for Henry when he's older too!

:lmao: I did!! In when I was 14! I went for a whole week while I was on spring break. I flew, by myself and it was only the second time I'd ever flown, from NJ to Atlanta and Atlanta to Huntsville AL (Where the actual camp is.)

It was very, very cool and soooo much fun!! Not to mention that's where I had my first kiss ! I still have my blue Space Camp Astronaut suit!

We got to do sooo much cool and interesting stuff!

When we first got there we had to take a test, yes a test. It measured our knowledge of the space program etc. OMG, I'm such a nerd! I got the second highest score in my group so I got to be the pilot on one of the 2 mock missions we did during the week.

There is a large NASA complex in Huntsville (US Space and Rocket Center) and we got to take a tour. Part of it was via bus around the whole complex. We got to see shuttle Endeavor while it was being built!!! It was amazing! We only got to see it because it was in a GIANT building, similar to the Vehicle Assembly Building but long not tall, with GIANT garage type doors that happened to be opened when we passed by. Like I said it was a very cool!!

We had classes with all sorts of info and a binder book of all sorts of countless pages of different things about the space program, the shuttle etc, etc (that I wish I still had but don't :( ) We had different lectures etc, etc

We got to meet Wernher von Braun, who was a leader in the development of rocket technology. Although he was really boring it was a amazing to meet him, even at 14!

So, now that I've been official crowned the queen of the geeks ;) ...

When I was there, again it was 20 years ago (glup) they had shorter programs for adults. I would LOVE to do one of those when the kiddos are a bit bigger.

We'll definitely be going to KSC but I'd really like to plan it to see a shuttle launch!! That would magnificantly amazing!!!!

:worship: :worship: :worship: I am in awe!

We plan on going on a launch day in December. I'm a tad nervous about this adventure with a 2 year old....I cannot imagine being 6 months pregnant during all that! That is an experience to say the very least...! How was the launch from KSC?

Well, I have to be honest...we decided we would NEVER go to KSC on a launch day again. Sorry - I hate to stress you out about it! The traffic and the crowds were so ridiculous. We actually decided the night before not to get up early and go to the launch itself. So we left WDW right around the time the launch happened, and we saw it in the sky on the way there. That was pretty cool. I'm looking forward to taking the boys the next time we are down there. I'm sure I will enjoy it more and they are at good ages for it.

OMG - Ghetto Gas! :scared1: I could totally picture the scene - the disgusting bathroom, changing the baby in the aisle, the STRESS of it all! I did crack up laughing at your description of the "Crazy mom" and "poopy pantless baby" - too funny! :lmao:

Do they still do space camps?

Yes! I looked at their website last night out of curiosity! What I saw of it, I did get to look to long, looked very similar to my experience 20 years ago!

Hi Brook, I should have posted much sooner again on your report, there were so many things I wanted to comment on, but never got round to do it. But thank you very much for the great entertainment!!

KSC sounds and looks wonderful! :thumbsup2 Thanks for the in-depth description of everything! I think this is one of the things I can use to "sell" Florida vacation to DBF - and once we are already in the neighbourhood, we really should stop by at WDW :rolleyes1

I am so sorry about poor Henry, I had all my hopes up that you were over this by that time in the trip report!!! I can understand how horribe your awful moment was!! :scared1: But I think it was their fault for not providing a changing table!!! You obviously did the only sensible thing to do in this situation!

I Love your new ticker!! I was determinded to try corn dogs for the first time ever in my life this trip, but never got round to do it! It would fit my general dining theme "as American as possible" quite well, I guess. Corn dogs are not known in Germany!!

Oh and of course I am very intrigued about your next installment - I wonder what it will be about!! :goodvibes

I am enjoying your report!

Henry is soooooo CUTE!!!

OMG, what an update! Ghetto Gas! Well at least you can laugh about it now. I'm sure it was not at all funny at the time!:sad2:

Thanks for showing some pics of Celebration. I'm fascinated by it too. And based on those houses I would love to live there. Disney sold it, though, right? Still would love to live there!! ::yes:: I wonder what the average home price is? Hmm... research... :surfweb:

:woohoo: for Shamrock Shakes! Glad to hear you gave it a thumbs up, and your DS did too! I have resisted this past week. Well, resisted Shamrock Shakes, and that's about it! It's been a "naughty" food week!

KSC is perfect for nerds! There is OODLES of nerdy space stuff on sale too.

:lmao: I did!! In when I was 14! I went for a whole week while I was on spring break. I flew, by myself and it was only the second time I'd ever flown, from NJ to Atlanta and Atlanta to Huntsville AL (Where the actual camp is.)

THAT IS SOOOOOO AWESOME! The manuals you described reminded me of the Space Camp movie and them all flipping through theirs trying to find what to do.
Way to go on being Pilot! Being a geek always brings big bonuses like that! ;)

I really hope the shuttle launch works out in December-Joe would be on cloud 9....and I'll enjoy it too! I hope you make it to KSC soon-and maybe fit in that shuttle launch. You can sign up to be notified about the tickets that go on sale via their website. From what I have heard the tickets sell out in minutes though!

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! Wow!!

Do they still do space camps?

I hope so! If Henry enjoys the 2 day, that would be something I would totally fork over the cash for him to do when he's a teen.

Well, I have to be honest...we decided we would NEVER go to KSC on a launch day again. Sorry - I hate to stress you out about it! The traffic and the crowds were so ridiculous. Thank you for telling me about all that! I can prepare myself a bit better for the crowds and go in with a chiller attitude that I know it's gonna kinda suck, but hopefully the rewards of seeing the launch will be worth it!

That bathroom was just ISH. The walls were all dingy and it smelled funny...and it was about the size of a shoe box. Ew!

It was a funny moment when we look back and it. Joe and I just laugh and laugh about the nuttiness of it. I swear, a vacation with me is ALWAYS a crazy adventure!

Yes! I looked at their website last night out of curiosity! What I saw of it, I did get to look to long, looked very similar to my experience 20 years ago!

:woohoo: That is great to hear! I'll have to have Joe check it all out, that falls into "his" department. I wonder if they allow adults....he would just LOVE it!

Oh and of course I am very intrigued about your next installment - I wonder what it will be about!! :goodvibes

I hope KSC does the trick on getting your DBF to go to Florida! It really is very interesting and yes, I think a "side-trip" to Disney World would be in order. He can compare the Shuttle Launch Experience at KSC to the Mission: Space at WDW. I really hope he gets wooed in! ;)

I couldn't believe it when they had no changing table. I flew into the bathroom and whipped open the door-nothing. It was a teeny-tiny box that was dark and dingy. I think, maybe, even if they DID have a changing table I might have chosen the cooler aisle anyway! It was probably cleaner!

Corn dogs are very, very American. Deep fried processed meat. Can you get anymore American than that?! :rotfl: ;) Oh, slather some cheese on it - there you go! They really are delish though. I'm not a huge corn dog/hot dog fan normally-but these deep fried nuggets from Casey's are awesome!

The next installment...what ever could it be?!?! :confused3  ;)

I am enjoying your report!

Henry is soooooo CUTE!!!

Thank you! So glad to hear you are enjoying it! Thank you for the sweet words about my little guy too! :goodvibes

It wasn't funny at the time-we were just in "go" mode straight through it all, but soon after we breathed and looked back and we cracked up!!!

Celebration is so beautiful-I hope we can visit during the day next time and get some real nice pictures and enjoy the area more. I do think Disney sold it orginally. I did see one house for sale during our drive around, the Realty sign was TEENY and not the huge honkers you get in yards normally. It "fit in" with everything. I wonder if realtor.com could find us some prices...I want to say in the $300,000 eaaaaaasy.

OR 2.2 MILLION! :scared1: http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/Celebration_FL_34747_1097636843

My average monthly mortgage payment would be over $11K. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Okay, there was a more normal one...$482,000: http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/Celebration_FL_34747_1103444592

They seem to range quite a bit, I saw another for $379,000. I wonder if it's larger than the Ghetto Gas bathroom? ;)

Everyone,
I wanted to get an update on tonight, since it's past the 8th and I don't have to fear my Photobucket pictures turning into little "sorry you can't see this!" icons....but, it's almost 11 pm here, and I gotta get some sleeeeeeep. So, tomorrow night, it's my #1 goal! Sorry for the delay! (To make it up to you, I promise a nice handful of food pics. and it's good food. well, not good FOR YOU food. bad for you food, which makes it good!)

Sounds great to me! :thumbsup2 Your description reminded me that I once was trying to figure out what American cheese was since I needed it for a recipe I had found here on the DIS. A quick search on Wikipedia resolved the mystery: it's processed cheese! :rotfl2: And what I thought very neat was that the German term for processed cheese could be translated into "melted cheese" and since in school we were always told about America as the big "melting pot" I found it was very apt that American cheese is "melted cheese"! :goodvibes
