We love Donald Duck, oh yes we do! - Link to the PTR - COMPLETE

We are in the car, headed to Sonic. Or at least trying to get to Sonic. I take a wrong turn out of the Astronaut Hall of Fame...which prompted the GPS to say "recalculating" 836 times.

We have decided that our GPS' "recalculating" mantra was recorded by Katharine Hepburn! It drives me nuts too!

Poor little Henry. And poor momma. The trip back was stressful but I am glad you all had the opportunity to look back at it and find some silver linings!

What fun would a vacation be without getting lost at least once ? Sorry it was at an inconvenient time however.

What is Celebration ? I love looking at houses. We have several historical districts in our city complete with brick streets and I just love driving or walking by them.

How old is Henry now ? Brooklyn is almost 18 months. She is just starting to form words. She calls everything Mommy. I cannot decide if I am happy that she loves me so much she calls every thing me or she just does not know what Mommy is. Her new words this week are weeee and yumm. She also says Yeah to almost anything you ask her. She seems to forget old words though when she learns new ones so we are always trying to get her to use all her words. She can say I love you, which melts my heart. Ok so it is not that clear except for the you part but I know what she is saying.

That is why I drive a SUV....I can (and do) diaper changes in the back. And I always keep disposable changing pads and paper towels in the diaper bag.

Poor Henry there is nothing more painful then backed-up gas....I'm sure he'll be better in the morning.....I hope!

Sounds like you and I found the same gas station while lost over that way. It scared me a bit. LOL. I am betting it was somewhere between Titusville and Cocoa. We got lost in the Ghetto on the way to Dixie Crossroads. Minus the poor sick baby. Poor little guy. I feel so bad for him.

I have to make the trip to Celebration this time since we are driving down to Disney. It looks soooo pretty.

Overall that day sounded like a blast minus the Ghetto ordeal. Good thing you can laugh about it. I am sure I would have been ten times more freakeout than you were.

yes it will be great to see my son and newphew together at the parks. It will their first time for both of them and my SIL who has never been. I already have backpacks full og coloring items and toys for them. I am going to have the ears and autograph books in the rooms from Mickey and I want to attempt to make t-shirts for the two of them. I want them to match as much as possible...plus make it easier to locate them too! My entire family thinks I am going overboard...but on here I am normal. :rotfl2: But the kids will enjoy it and I can't wait for them to see it.
Plus I want to sweet talk my DH into a DVC tour while we are there. Then we can possibly look at DVC resales bc I told him we will be going every 2-3 yrs whether he would like it or not. He would just like to see other places in the USA which I get but we still need to go there more too!

Wow, what a crazy evening you had. Sorry Henry was feeling so bad. Im hoping that things turned out better the next day for you guys. Sounds like some of our previous trips:sad2:
Well, I guess I will have to wait until we are back from our trip to get some more trip reports from you. We leave TOMORROW:banana: and I probably wont be back on since I have so much to do before we leave- including taking my baby to the ped in a few hours since she is coughing so badly and has a runny nose. Im afraid to go without having her checked out. She was running fever earlier in the week with no other symptoms. Im hoping they will give me an antiobiotic to carry with us just in case she gets worse.
Anyway, I cant wait to read more when I get back from the World.....

OK... I have been a longtime luker coming out now to let you know I am enjoying your report. I have a DD3 and reading your reports reminds me of how DD was at that age at Disney (we are heading back November - can't wait). Funny how fast they change.

Also - I live in Nashville and have been unsuccessful in finding the Shamrock shake. I am so sad. Any Tennesseans out there know where they can be found?:confused3

Oh Brook. What a stressful night. I get so flustered in situations like that, I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack. Next time (or maybe you already have), get a limeade. Strawberry preferably. Yum. Poor lil' Henry. I'm sure his tummy was a mess. What, no pictures of the friendly armed guard? ;)

Oh no, poor Henry! The poor baby can't catch a break on these trips! I'm so sorry about Henry and all the stress that night. I really hope things got better from that day out!

Oh Brook!! I'm so sorry Henry wasn't feeling too well!!! UGH!! At least he went down very easily!! I'm a huge fan of Sonic so yes you must try a limeaid someday!!!!

Oh Brook, what a crazy night!! But you handled it just like any Mom would....do what you need to for your baby!!! :lovestruc Poor little Henry!! I know that I've had some of those crazy Mommy moments with my 3 boys...you're right, it makes for a great story and at least you can laugh about it now, right?:lmao:

Love the pics of Celebrations! My friend from HS lives these and it was nice to see them in "person"...thanks!!!

I just got caught up again! First, I'm soooo sorry you had such a terrible, crazy night! I swear I could hear the stress in your voice!!

Second, my confession. I'm a nerd too! Way back when, about 20 years ago now (I feel OOOLLLDDD saying that!) I actually went to Space Camp! When we went to WDW when I was a kid my mom took me, my sisters too but it was for me, to KSC and I loved it! I would love to go back!!

I hope Henry was ok!

I'm going to have to listen more closely to ours to see who it might be recorded by...Joe and I always joke that they should sell packages for it with different accents, or ebonics or something!

The evening was stressful, but thankfully it was only about a 2 hour portion of the entire wonderful day!

What fun would a vacation be without getting lost at least once ? Sorry it was at an inconvenient time however.

Exactly! Gotta have some crazy getting lost stories in there!! That is usually why I insist on Disney transportation only!! But, it is fun to go off property now that we've tried it....

Celebration is a neighborhood in Orlando that is ON Disney's property. It was built by Disney. It is built in a manner to encourage neighbors to know each other, to walk, to get outside and enjoy each other and nature. There are alleys (detached garages, though, I don't think ALL the houses are like that), front porches, parks, etc. There are (or at least were, when the community was first created) a TON of ordinances-very strict-like you can only paint your house certain colors and your fence has to be only so high and such a style (think white-picket-fence). It was to create this feeling of being in a story book - much like Disney World itself!!

There is a lot of controversial feelings in the City Planners community about Celebration, but I personally LOVE it and would LOVE living there! Or at least owning a vacation home there! :cloud9:

The movie "The Truman Show" was filmed there, so if you can recall the "happy go lucky" type of neighborhood he lived in, that's Celebration! (or at least Disney's attempt at a "happy go lucky" neighborhood in real life!)

Henry just turned 18 months on March 1. He doesn't have a ton of words either and calls everyone Mommy too! He points to a picture of Joe and says "Mommy". It's hilarious. Someday our little ones WILL GET Daddy!!! Someday!

That is soooooo sweet about her saying "I love you"! :lovestruc Henry does Mommy, Dut (duck), Ba (ball), Mi (milk), car noises, monkey noises, choo-choo noises, and pants like a dog. He can say dog too, but it sounds similar to Dut. I know he has a few others...and he nods and shakes his head, but hasn't quite figured out what they mean! He has said no a few times too-but thankfully hasn't fully picked up it yet!

That is why I drive a SUV....I can (and do) diaper changes in the back. And I always keep disposable changing pads and paper towels in the diaper bag.

Poor Henry there is nothing more painful then backed-up gas....I'm sure he'll be better in the morning.....I hope!

We just got an SUV! (which is actually part of my TR...dum dum dummmmmm!) Great idea on the diaper changes on the tailgate! I'm so stealing that Mommy tip. :thumbsup2

Henry has never had a big problem with gas, so I was a complete wreck!!! Thankfully it was all over quickly!

You know, I wouldn't doubt if we were lost in the same neighborhood! Everything was so dark and sceery looking!

Celebration is awesome! It's worth the extra little drive. I think I want to go back during the day in December. Might have to keep a rental car for more than just one day...hmmmm....

The day was awesome, thankfully this ordeal was only a small fraction of the day! I read Joe my TR update about it all this morning before we left for work and he was laughing along with me. "Oooooh, the drama!" :rotfl2:

yes it will be great to see my son and newphew together at the parks. It will their first time for both of them and my SIL who has never been. That is SO CUTE about all the stuff you are doing for the trip! I love the idea of them matching, that will make for such great pictures! And yes, the kids will looooooove it. I bet everyone will realize you are a genius after they see how the kids react and see the pictures and have all the beautiful memories of it all!

You are very normal. ::yes::

If you are just going every 2-3 years there is PLENTY of time for the rest of the country! ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ;) I bet after he see's your Caleb's eyes light up, he'll be sucked right into it all....

Wow, what a crazy evening you had. Sorry Henry was feeling so bad. Im hoping that things turned out better the next day for you guys. Sounds like some of our previous trips:sad2:

HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP!!!!!!!!!
I'm so sorry to hear about your little one being sick though...I hope she is okay and is all good for the trip!!

Having a sick baby on vacation kinda stinks-we've done it twice now! Thankfully both times it wasn't too severe and Henry was in a good mood all the time (except this one evening). Hopefully if your little girl does carry it down with her, it will only get better and it will be a very magical trip for you!

See you when you get back! :goodvibes

Hello there! Thank you for posting! So glad to hear you have been enjoying it. :thumbsup2

I cannot even fathom Henry at 3 years old. My nephew just turned 3 and I was shocked. I swear his 1st birthday was like 4 months ago! :confused3

That is a shame about no Shamrock Shakes in Nashville! It's a big city, it should have the cream of the crop-just like NYC should! :sad2: Maybe a neighboring City has them....

Oh Brook. What a stressful night. I get so flustered in situations like that, I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack. Next time (or maybe you already have), get a limeade. Strawberry preferably. Yum. Poor lil' Henry. I'm sure his tummy was a mess. What, no pictures of the friendly armed guard? ;)

I was so flustered and annoyed, exhausted and frustrated! :sad2: But, thankfully it was all over quickly and (fairly) painlessly.

Yes, I HAVE to get a limeaid.
They have Sonic in Minnesota now. I have no weekend plans.

Hmmmmm  Maybe just maybe....

:rotfl: about the pic of the armed guard! Oh my word! I can just picture it. "Thanks Mr. Gun Man, I have one more question...can I get a pic of you for my TR? Or wait, better yet, one of you with me!" LOVE IT!

Oh no, poor Henry! The poor baby can't catch a break on these trips! I'm so sorry about Henry and all the stress that night. I really hope things got better from that day out!

I know it! It's awful! I just wish there was something I could have done to resolve it all. Thankfully, yes, it does get much much better!

Oh Brook!! I'm so sorry Henry wasn't feeling too well!!! UGH!! At least he went down very easily!! I'm a huge fan of Sonic so yes you must try a limeaid someday!!!!

After the major toot, and a few small ones after that, he was good to go-just exhausted. But even so, I feel so bad for him! I was pumping his legs like mad at Sonic-that usually helps get the toots out in little babies!! Not sure if it helped or just made him mad though...

Yes, I gotta try that limeaid! I just might venture to the one in Minnesota this weekend if I can swing it....:rolleyes1

I was in total "Go" mode. Without thinking. Just do what needs to get done as quickly as possible! It's amazing how much adrenaline can pump through ya when those sort of things are going on! I felt just awful for Henry though!! It's so sad when they don't know what's going on with themselves.

Yes, thankfully we can laugh about it all. I'm sure we'll have more stories like that in the future ---- hopefully NOT while on vacation though!

That is sooooo cool about your friend living there! I'm jealous! It's beautiful. (and I'm sure very, very, very expensive!)

OH MY WORD! YOU WENT TO SPACE CAMP! You so fulfilled the dream of millions of 80s children!

That is so very cool.

I gotta tell Joe. He's gonna be insanely jealous. He wants to take Henry on one of the 2 day/overnight adventures when he's older. How long were you there? What did you get to do? Details! Hijack my thread please! :hyper:

WDW + Space Camp. What a trip! I really hope we get to do that for Henry when he's older too!

Catching up a few days late....poor Henry...I hope he felt better and it was just some bug.

I loved the pictures of the KSC - we've never been and this kind of made me want to go now ;) We also do not have Sonics really yet around Chicago (although one just opened up in the NWest 'burbs) and I know some people LOVE it, but I've never really been impressed with the food. I know it's fast food, but it's always been kind of ehhh. Now the soda drinks they have can be really yummy.

I'm going to have to listen more closely to ours to see who it might be recorded by...Joe and I always joke that they should sell packages for it with different accents, or ebonics or something!

Well, we have many voices and languages to choose from, and I think they are more or less computer generated. But our "recalculating" has that wobbly voice and inflection that Ms. Hepburn was so famous for.

I'm FINALLY caught up...again. I really hate not being able to see your pictures at work, I need to talk to management about that. :lmao:

I think I would have thrown up if a bird had stolen a fry out my hand....seriously. That is one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard!

We went to KSC when I was a moody teenager of 13. I remember saying it was "soooo boring" but secretly I kinda like it. I love watching the armadillos everywhere! :rotfl2: We took some sort of bus tour as well and I don't know if I am remembering correctly or not but we actually saw a shuttle moving to the launch area, does that make sense? I remember thinking that it barely looked like it was moving!

I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy your Sonic and that Henry wasn't feeling well! I really hope that you all have a sick free trip in December, you have earned one!

Oh, Brook! What an ordeal! Between finding Sonic, finding a gas station, and Henry being miserable I can only imagine your stress!!!

We have a Sonic here in town, but we have never eaten there. Maybe we should try it sometime.

Glad you liked the tour through the houses! I bet after Henry gets older we won't bother with Toontown either. But, it's really fun for little ones his age! Do you recall back in 1992 could you play in Mickey's house?

I beleive in the early 90's toontown was something else. Like birthday town or something like that. They re-did it then. I think it was in 95.
The reason the kitchen is such am ess is that Goofy and Donald are remodeling it for Mickey, in other words making a huge mess.

My DH put my DD on the bike that is part of the "blocking" for the living room. He's such a rebel. LOL! Then every person behind us started doing the same thing.
I even took a picture of the rebel! LOL!

img1128.jpg

I'm lovin it! (ok corny McDonald's joke just for you Brook!) :lmao:

Love the pics of the castle and the details of MK and CR. I remember when they first started selling those little corner stones. I wanna say it was over 500$ to buy one and that was back in the early 90s. Any other DISers remember? Cus I could totally be wrong here.

They were selling those in the 90's. I remember hearing about it on the monorail. I want to say therey were either $500 or $1000, or maybe they had both catagories? :confused3

It was just a bug - and thankfully, he does get better! This was, by far, the worst of it all.

KSC is really fun! It's techy, and geeky and educational and interesting. I enjoyed every exhibit we saw and we both look forward to going back! It's such a quick trip down the road too.

People (here and elsewhere) have said the limeaids at Sonic are delish. I'm gonna hvae to try one of those next time!

Well, we have many voices and languages to choose from, and I think they are more or less computer generated. But our "recalculating" has that wobbly voice and inflection that Ms. Hepburn was so famous for.

That's really cool! I wish ours had some choices in the voice, etc. It might be fun to hear it in Spanish or something. Ours tonight said "recalculating" to me as we were driving to a nearby town to a diner we've never been to, and I listed to see if it would be Audrey-but nope, just very generic and computer-like. All well!

I'm FINALLY caught up...again. I really hate not being able to see your pictures at work, I need to talk to management about that. :lmao:

Ya, see what your manager says about that one...:rotfl: Its really strange though, it's gotta be something on my account? Not sure what though...

Yep, it makes sense about seeing the shuttle moving to the launch area! It must have been going from the VAB to the launch pad and it would go right past one of the bus tour stops. From what we learned it goes reaaaaaaaally slowly. Make sense when you are hauling something so expensive!

Yes, sickness free in December and I think a Sonic stop in Ghetto-Ville might be necessary as well. Gotta get a limeaid if I haven't tried one yet!

Oh, Brook! What an ordeal! Between finding Sonic, finding a gas station, and Henry being miserable I can only imagine your stress!!!

We have a Sonic here in town, but we have never eaten there. Maybe we should try it sometime.

It was a rough evening-but thankfully just a short span in the day! Both Joe and I laughed after we calmed down some!

I've heard the food is good from most people, namely the limeaid drinks. I *think* Joe had onion rings which he said were good too.

I beleive in the early 90's toontown was something else. Like birthday town or something like that. They re-did it then. I think it was in 95.

That is really interesting about Mickey's house! Thank you for explaining that! Today they have yellow ropes across all the rooms, you are completly restricted to walk in a straight line through it all - there would be no going near anything like your DD!

That is such a cute pic!! So sweet! Too funny about your DH being the rebel and then everyone following his example for the same pic!! I would have done the same...:rolleyes1

Wow, that's a LOT for a name in a brick, but I can understand the attraction. Your name pretty much immortalized infront of MK-pretty cool! Some had engravings on them, others were plain-so maybe it was a $500 engraving!
