We leave on Thursday and the kids still don't know...

I have a question - what did you wear (short sleeve, shorts/pants, etc.)

We leave Sunday - also a surprise trip!

After I read your post last week, I told my kids about it. They said they want to be surprised next time...lol.

I'm glad you had a great time. I'm trying to still get a Jan 1st trip planned, but it's starting to look like it won't happen. :(

Thanks for letting us know how it went.

Mary

We surprised our kids last spring break. It was great! It was really a last minute trip (booked 3 weeks before we left) so while it was hard to keep the secret I didn't have to do it for long. Thankfully! ;)

DS had a basketball game at 10:00. I dropped him, his brother and DH off early "to watch the other games" and went home and packed the van.

When we got to the van after the game, my DS said "why is our luggage in the van? Why is one of the seats missing? Why is my pillow and blanket in the van?" Then before we could say anything he started yelling "we're going to Disney aren't we?". :Pinkbounc

It was awesome. My youngest (2) didn't know what was going on.

The ONLY thing my DS was sad about was that he didn't say goodbye to the dog and cat before he left.

This year, I made the trip 11 months out so there was NO WAY to keep that surprise.

We were there during a cold spell. On Thursday when we arrived I had on Lands' End sweatpants (pretty thin) a long sleeve t-shirt and my WDW windbreaker. This is what I wore to MVMCP. Through the evening I eventually put on my light fleece under my windbreaker and added my gloves and ear muffs. Now I am a chilly person to begin with, I'll tell you. The rest of my family wore jeans, t-shirt, sweatshirts and as the evening went on put on their mid-weight windbreakers. Dd and ds added their hats and gloves for the 10:15 Celebration show and the following parade.

Friday - the coldest day. What I wore at night on Thursday, I wore during the day on Friday (except I had on regular jeans) and then added my mid-weight windbreaker over my light weight windbreaker at night. I was very comfortable as was my family as we watched many people freeze their tushes' off at Downtown Disney.

Saturday, I wore capri jeans with t-shirt and light weight windbreaker, could of went with regular sweatshirt, but there was a breeze and the windbreaker stop the breeze from hitting me. Rest of family had on jeans with t-shirt and sweatshirt. For CP, we all put our jackets on except dh, he wore his newly purchased holiday fleece.

Sunday - the nicest day weather wise. I had on capri jeans with t-shirt. I would put on my sweatshirt here and there, but mainly if I was in the shade. In the sun was gorgeous.

The weather forecast for the week down there (per channel 9) was a warming up trend with temps hitting close to 80 by the end of the week. I suggest weather.com's 10 day forecast everyday until you go to see if the trend is changing!

Have fun! Even though it was chilly we had a great time (since we were prepared for anything and everything weather wise.)
