We leave in 5 days and DD has Pinkeye!

Yikes! She is 4 years old and when I picked her up from pre-k , I noticed her eyes were all full of that gross yellowish stuff. It was all over-I actually thought it was clay or something! I am upset that the teacher didn't mention anything to me. She didn't send her to the nurse and dd told me she was complaining about her eye all day!

So I took her right in to the dr. and he confirmed what I was dreading....PINKEYE! They gave her drops and some ointment. I also have a baby at home so I am freaking out. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this smoothly? I have been washing my hands like crazy of course!

I just want to have a great trip next week and don't want it to spread to the baby or anyone else (including me)! I have no experience with this.

My DS had pinkeye about a month ago, and he was better within 2 days of starting the eyedrops.

My daughter brought it home Halloween night. She could go back to school after she had been on antibiotics for 24 hours and she didn't give it to anyone in our family. Try not to touch your eyes for the next few days (and I know how hard that is!).

we had a round of pink eye last fall. Once we started the drops, we were better within days, it works really quick. Be very careful to take the drops for the full time prescribed -- it could come back. We were very careful about washing hands and anything the kids would touch. Your DD should be fine by the time you leave -- have a great time!

As everyone has said, the drops your doctor can prescribe work wonders... usually within 24 hours for my kids! I just wanted to add that you should definitely add the drops to your packing list, though. It's nice to have them on hand in case they're needed on your trip. Have a great time!

Make sure that the poor thing has some sunglasses; conjunctivitis makes your eyes HORRIBLY light-sensitive; light makes you absolutely miserable.
