on Aug 31, I am so nervous. I havent been since I was 12 and we went in Oct. When ever I tell anyone when we are going they get this horrible look on their face and say "it will be hot you will hate it" Ok I dont want to hate my vacation, yes we are aware that it will be very hot, but we had no choice on when we could go.
Everyone makes it seem like we are going to die or something. I just want to have fun I want my kids to have fun.

has anyone gone at this time and survived. please I dont want to regret my vacation.

TIA
Kristen

Hi Kristen,

Yes it will be HOT, but you will enjoy it. We have been in July and twice in August. And we are going again this August. All you have to do is drink lots of water and take breaks when you need them. It will rain, but thats ok too. The parks close early during that time, also.

Just know it's hot and go with the flow.

Enjoy,
Mary

Okay, take a deep breath...Calm...

Let's turn this around...Think of all the space you'll have in your suitcase because you didn't need to pack jeans and sweatshirts! And that space can be filled up with souveniers!

Thousands, maybe millions, visit the world at this time of year and have a wonderful time. Whether you have a good vacation or a bad vacation is entirely up to you. WDW is ALWAYS magical, no matter what the weather, temp., or month.

You do need to visit the parks early. If you are staying onsite, take advantage of EMHs. When it starts getting too hot or the kids start to look a bit wilted--GET OUT! Go back to your hotel for a swim/lunch/rest and don't go back to the parks until all of you are revived. This is so important.

I know you may feel like, "hey, I'm wasting my day lounging at the hotel, I should be in the parks making the most of my money."
You can't think this way! If you tour the parks commando-style in the heat, YOU will ruin your vacation. Your kids will literally melt-down. I've seen it happen. I've seen kids laying on the ground in the parks, crying. The moms are sweating and look exhausted and frazzeled. They are definately not having fun. I want to go over and say to them, "Maybe you guys need a little park break."

Of course I don't. I just look over at my 5 kids who are refreshed and excited and having a great time and I know that I made my vacation magical by using common sense and mother's intuition.

Have a wonderful vacation just use common sense. All those people who are poo-pooing your plans are just jealous that they aren't going anytime soon!

I have never been in Aug, but I have been the end of Sept. 98, it was 96 degrees everyday and the end of April 02, 92 degrees everyday. It was hot, but we still had a good time. Do fastpass as much as possible, plan an afternoon swim, maybe even hit the water parks. Go to Walmart and buy the water bottle/fan thingies, they're only a few dollars there , but about $17 @ WDW. We've never purchased these, but you see them everywhere down there. The good thing about WDW, most of the attractions are indoors. I think Small World is down for refurbishment, that's too bad, that's always a nice relaxing, cool down ride. Don't worry & have fun!!!

It's not like you'll be in HE** LOL! Sure it will be hot, but you'll still have a great time! Don't let anyone get ya down about the heat. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Oh and I agree with the pp...they are probably jealous of you! phooey on them!

we went last aug 31 - sept6th and while it was terribly hot none of us died or hated it lol. we are from Canada. After the first day we adjusted fine and everything was perfect. Just think to yourself that you'll be mostly adjusted to the heat anyway because it'll be the end of summer! This year we're going sept.6th - 13th so the heat couldn't have bothered us that much lol. be sure to bring lots of water to drink and to wear your sunscreen and hats.

I never understood why people want to burst your bubble. Of course it will be hot - it's Floriday. That being said we went in August last year and are going in July this year. We don't take the kids out of school, and with my husband's work schedule that's when we have to take our vacation. Drink lots of water, get some spray fans, and go back to your hotel for a swim break in the afternoon. Go on airconditioned rides when it gets to be too much. We have three little kids with us so we try to make PS's for sit down restaurants , the kids tend of recharge after lunch or dinner in a cool, relaxed atmosphere. YOU WILL STILL HAVE A GREAT TIME - a plus is that the parks stay open later in the summer months, and you can swim all night! Have a wonderful time and don't let anybody get you down.

We went in August of 2002, and yes it was HOT, but we are from Connecticut, and when we called home to say Hi, it was hotter in CT than in Disney!!! My point being, its August, its hot, you might as well be enjoying yourself in it at Disney!!!

AND..... we are going again this August:bounce:

So, it can't be that bad if my teenagers want to go back in August again :p

Thank you so much. we plan on going very slow, letting the kids take it all in.
Do they have those water sprinkler things there?

Im sure we will be going back in forth between the hotel and Disney. has anyone ever stayed at the holiday inn maingate east.

When we tell people that we are going in July, they look at us like we a re crazy! :teeth: They feel that they must inform us that July is HOT! I'm just hoping that must people feel the same way & chose to stay home this July! Terrible thing to wish, isn't it? ::yes::

 We have been in Sept. May, June and Aug. this time will be Dec. nana2tots

kmb34me,

Listen to all the good advice!

We've gone in August and are going again this summer.

Pace yourselves, drink plenty of water and when it gets hot, head back to hotel for dip in the pool or nap in nice A/C room.

You'll have a great time cause you'll be at ...

We've stayed there twice. The shuttles run primarily in the am and at park closing. Usually the shuttle goes to one park, back to hotel, goes to another park, back to hotel etc. They have a toll free phone # so perhaps you could call and enquire. The schedule also depends on park hours.

been there at that time of year before (twice) and we're going back this year on 8/30... hot yes, crowds no... works for me :)

Yup it's going to be hot and humid everyone will smell and look sweaty in all of your pictures.....you and everyone else should stay home during that time cause that's when I'm going and I don't want my BO to offend anyone but me and the cast members...lol...

GO , ENJOY and sweat away!!!!

First of all its Florida--just like Texas its almost always hot. Just take some breaks in the ac, drink water and you should be okay. We have been in Sept and Oct and it was hot then too so going in the off season doesnt always help you escape the heat.
I dont think the crowds will be to bad then since a lot of schools go back around that time.

Mk and Epcot has the sprinkler things but haven't seen them at the other 2 parks but may be there.

I've been to WDW twice in August and didn't think it was that bad. Remember that it rains almost every day during this time, usually in late afternoon. So get up early so you can see some of the parks and then head back. Usually, the rain cools things down quite a bit so the evenings are more pleasant. You will have a great time! I just came back from WDW last Thursday and thought it was much hotter in June than it had been in August!
