I guess I am just feeling starnge because of what happened last weekend with the hurricane, plus I have to board my dog and that always stresses me out...

This is the first time I am not overly excited....I was 2 weeks ago...

We will be leaving in 2 days also! I think it's just trying to get everything ready! Good luck! Hope you have a safe trip. Have agreat time!!

If you're feeling uncomfortable about going because of what people have lost, keep in mind how important an industry tourism is in Florida. People cancelling their vacations en masse will hurt more. Go down, and spend, spend, spend! And have a great time, and come back and tell people what a great time you had. That should help in the recovery.

Kungaloosh!

I think? I think we plan and plan and think of nothing but our Disney trip and then when it gets close...we semi-panic. It's all of the preparation like getting your dog boarded, etc etc. Many times I've seen discussion threads on this very subject on these boards. Everyone experiences it. I've often said that one of the best trips we ever took to Disney was a last minute trip...only had 2 weeks to plan. I really think we wear our excitement out by the time the trip rolls around. Not that it will stop me from doing so, I am addicted. My name is Pam. I'm a Disney-o-holic.

You'll have a great time once you get there.

Leaving my dogs stresses me out too. My mom watches them for me because I have "issue" dogs - medications, strange personalities, etc and boarding them won't work. However - like clockwork on EVERY vacation she starts this BS with me a week or so before I go about "maybe I'll just stay at my house and let them out/feed on a schedule" which she KNOWS stresses me out to no end because they can't be left at night. I don't know why she does it except that she enjoys the chaos in my life it creates? Who knows. Even know I know that she ends up staying she adds so much stress to my final week that I'm already dreading it and I'm still 30 days away.

Anyway, off subject and I rambled but I feel better now. :)

I had the same feeling 3 years ago. We had planned a trip to Disney in September and what happened the week before? - 9/11. We debated on whether or not to go. I felt guilty thinking of going down there and having fun while so many people were suffering. But then someone told me that if we didn't go we were just giving in to the terrorists plot, so I decided to go and try to make the most of it. It was sad seeing Disney so empty - usually we wish for less crowds but on that trip I wished for more! The buses were empty and on so many occasions my husband and I were the only ones on the bus. The bus drivers were telling stories of their cut back hours and how it was hurting them financially. So like someone mentioned before our trips to Disney really help the Florida economy...

So get packed and ready to have a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Daa trip!

:flower1:

hulabird, I can always take your place if you want me to!!!!:teeth: :teeth:

But really, I think the trip itself is sometimes anitclamitic. You put so much into the planning and scheduling that by the time the trip rolls around, it is a letdown. Plus, by the second day into the trip I start getting depressed because I know it will end soon.!!

I am feeling that way right now because school starts in a couple weeks ( I am a Kindergarten teacher!) and it seems like summer just started!!

Go, have a great time, your dog will be fine and very excited to see you when you get back!!

Have fun!

I have a similar problem but the timing is different. I am in an absolute frenzy up til the day I leave for WDW but once I get there it takes me a day or two to "sink" into the trip. I hate it because I rob myself of precious time. Actually, I find that the longer my visit will be, the longer my immersion takes. I guess I just can't believe I am actually there.

In 2 days you will:

SMILE constantly :teeth:

act half your age :earsgirl:

get WAY to little sleep

add a huge amount of memories to your life ::yes::

deplete the vaction fund ;)

and realize that since you have done this all before, you have actual experiences and stresses that fill in the "anxious/exciting" moments that were there b4 your first or even second trip. I actually feel the "let down" a bit b4 we go now, simply because I know know how hard it is to come back....something I had no idea I would feel on our first trip's end. It's just a dose of reality keeping you in check, and yes, I feel guilty planning a Dec trip after all the devastation from Charley...esp since I have family ther! All normal...and you are probably overtired too...don't worry, Mickeys gonna make sure you are taken care of!

I can identify about feeling weird about going down after the hurricance. I talked to Maple Leaf Tix yesterday and the woman that helped me was so nice. Here I am worried about whether my park passes will make it to us in time and then I asked her how she was doing after Charley. Well, she still has no power, which means no AC, no fridge, nothing cold to drink. She has a 15 yr. old son and she said she can endure anything, but she feels bad for him. They start back at school on Monday. She said she was just grateful that everyone in her family was okay, but there are plenty of people who aren't okay. On the other hand, she said that gov't relief efforts are so appreciated. They are helping with water, food, baby supplies, everything. I will put in a plug for Maple Leaf Tickets, found out about them on this board and pray for strength for all those trying to put their lives back together in Florida.

I think we all think that way. my mind is on overload and I am not leaving till Novemeber, the guilt is setting in now, I am leaving my 86 yr old dad but then again my brother goes on vacation and doesn't even call him to see if he is still living, my cat will be alone and my dad will come once a day to feed him and change his water and clean his litter box, the money I am charging I shouldn't be, I am going to have a fence installed the beginning of next week, oh brother, I could go on and on but you know something LIFE IS TO SHORT, I wanna enjoy life while I am living and still can, go have a FUNtastic time, I think us woman were bred to be worriers, it isnt fair :D

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I plan and plan for months and get excited but when it comes time to the last minute things I panic big time! I have three cats to board and an autistic son who is five years old. He is on a special diet so we have to pre cook and freeze all meals and then reserve a fridge and microwave for the room. He also has tons of supplements to take...anyway, you get the idea! I think we all just panic a little trying to get it all done but as soon as we arrive at Disney all cares are gone and we always have a great time. I hope you have a great trip also!!!!

Thanks all you guys! I appreciate the pep talk and I am sure when I get there it will be fun. I think you guys are right about the planning and then it finally getting here.

I know that God will make sure my dog is ok, I have to keep the faith.

My nieces are so looking forward to this trip and they need it as my sister is in the middle of a divorce and last time they went to Disney, when their loser dad came, they did not have any fun. I am going to make sure that this time they do.

I am going to try and cheer up! :sunny:

Thanks DIS friends!
