So we just got off the phone with a man who was happy to inform us that we had just won a trip to Disney for a Family of 4.

He declared that he had just pulled our name out of the ballot box, a slip that we had filled out at a local mall, and weren't we excited?!?!

Except (as you can see from my ticker) we are leaving to go to Disney tomorrow...

And the other issue of us never having filled out the ballot to be entered into the draw,
Or the fact that this free trip would only cost us $3500 in taxes and admin fees.
Or the fact the number he called is less than a week old.
Or the number that he called us from was 0-123-456-7890
He got very upset when we declined it. Almost demanding that we take it.
He asked "what are we going to do with this trip if you don't take it you won out of 2500 entrants!"

So we suggested they pull another name.... but that wouldn't work either apparently .. all the other names were instantly incinerated because who wouldn't take this deal....

Be careful folks.. this scam is far and wide.. it's amazing how many people would think the $3500 is a bargain for a weeks vacation even if it was a real vacation (which i doubt it is).

There is another scam where they indicate they are calling from your cable company... a friend of ours fell for this one... although it was only for $2500... her "travel package" was a photo copy of a Sears Travel flyer with circle around a value resort package. Of course, when she called them back, the number wasn't in service.

So we are going to leave tomorrow on our REAL vacation that we worked hard for and earned the old fashioned way :)

:scared1: Whoa! Scary stuff! Good thing you had the sense to call his bluff and hang up! We've had calls that came up 0-123-456-7890 and wondered who they were....we never pick up thankfully.

Thanks for the head's up and yes, enjoy your hard-earned REAL vacation indeed! :thumbsup2

We have had phone calls weekly from them. One of the funny things is, my grandfather who lived in our inlaw suite would get a phone call right after they called our number! LOL :rotfl2: Can we say scam!

It is unbelievable what these people will do... and even more unbelievable how many people fall for it. We all wish for the day we get handed a free trip to Disney but if you don't enter any contest and are asked to fork up money to go on your "free" trip... beware!!

I felt very much the same way last fall when I got a call saying I had won a trip for two to the Olympics. The only difference was mine was legit. I had just entered Rona's contest online on the Sunday and I got a call on Tuesday asking if I had entered the contest. But the feeling I had at first was one of skepticism as you hear about these scams all the time. But this was real and we had a great time and it didn't cost us a cent. Just be careful and keep track of the contests you do enter and good luck. Someone does win these things.

:scared1: a "free trip" for $3500?? Just how stupid do they think people are? Wow.

They didn't ask if we had entered, they told us we had, at a mall that is in our area.

The thing is, we do not enter those draws. (SO worked for a legit marketting company that used those draws to build calling lists for all sorts of items, and they aer expemt from DNC as you willingly provided the info.)

gotta go to sleep .. leaving in 7 hours!!

I got a call like this a few years ago, as soon as they told me it was Universal I knew it was a scam. :rotfl2: I asked them which contest, and where did I enter it at what time? I knew I didn't enter the contest, but just to be a smart aleck I looked it up and told them I could not have entered an online contest on that date cause I was at work at that time!

They were pretty rude to me too, I welcomed them to send all the info to my house if I won a free trip I should hve the info right?? They hung up on me when I told them I was NEVER going to give them any money for a free trip. :lmao:

We had something like that happen, except we did enter a draw at our local fair, but when they called to say we won a trip to Orlando, they wanted our credit card # "just for the deposit on the hotel room". We declined as I thought it was fishy to want my credit card # for a free trip? I'm not giving out my credit card # over the phone!

When I first read your post I was sooo excited for you!!! But then I read farther on and well... :confused3 How sad! I hate it when people try and scam things- I just don't know how you can lie and steal from somebody. What kind of people do this??? Thanks for the post!
