We just bought 150 points at BWV direct from Disney (December use year). I looked at resale, but decided the cost savings after factoring closing costs weren't worth the hassle, particularly since we wanted to book a December vacation for this year.

We simply love the Epcot resort area. We have stayed at the Swan our last two trips and really wanted to be able stay in the Epcot area on every trip. SSR actually appealed to me for two reasons: we love DTD, and the extra 12 years should help resale value down the road if we ever go that route.

At the end of the day, we decided we'd rather be guaranteed a room at BWV even if it cost us $2 extra per point (and possible resale value down the road). After all, this is a vacation expense first and an investment a distant second.

I immediately was able to book a 2-bedroom at Boardwalk for a week in December. I wanted to thank all the contributors to this board. Spending a few hours reading it gives you an incredible education about DVC, and took all the anxiety out of the decision.

Boda....Welcome as a DVC BWV member. Our home resort is the Boardwalk,
since 2000. We are so happy that we bought here with the close location to EPCOT and MGM. BW has it all... action and relaxation at the same time. We have stayed here at least eight times and are going back in July 2006.
Enjoy your membership......it is sooooo worth it.

Congratulations and welcome home from another very satisfied BWV owner.

Best wishes -

Congratulations!!!

I also just purchased at BWV. I've lost track of time, but I think our closing date is soon. I banked my points, so I have 300 points to spend! :thumbsup2

I tried to book a studio for next January via the DVC member website and was shocked that my room wasn't available. A little bumbed about my first ressie experience being bad, but hopefully that was just bad timing and I'll learn the ropes soon.

Congratulations again, and enjoy your new "home"!

You cannot book DVC resorts using points via the web. You have to call Member Services to make reservations.

You must have been on the public reservations website. Had you been able to book a studio it would have been a cash reservation through CRO, not one that could be paid for with your DVC points.

Give Member Services a call because depending on exactly when in January you wanted to go, there will probably be a studio available for your January trip.

ETA: Did you mean you submitted a form to Member Services requesting a room? You could give them a call and put yourself on the waiting list for your travel dates. What dates were you trying to book?

In another thread, she said she used the email request form. She also said she wanted a standard view studio for 10 days next January.

IMHO, she got some good advice in that other thread - basically, it was call MS rather than email, book PV - Pool/Garden now (that's likely not sold out) and waitlist for the SV option.

Best wishes -

Congrats.......we just got back from BWV and can't wait to get back! My DW who really isn't a WDW fan loved the Boardwalk area..it was actually her first time there. Kids loved it as well....Remember the waitlist works.....don't fret if you can't get in on the first try........I booked a 1 bedroom 8 days out...there may have been some luck there though.....

Thanks for the update. I always forget about the option to email the request form because it's not something I would ever use. If I couldn't get the room I originally requested I would want to know what other options existed: different view, different dates, waiting list, etc. But if someone's job makes it difficult to call MS I guess it's better than having no other option at all.

Congratulations!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

(I'm jealous! ;) )

Hi Brownie! Sounds like your first trip as DVC owners was a good one. So maybe having your renter not come through and leaving you with some extra points was a good thing afterall. Glad you had a good time.

Definitely.....we still were able to rent some points out and took the March trip with some friends. It all worked out great......Can't wait until November..

Congrats and Welcome Home. We first bought at SSR, but after our first stay at BWV we just had to add on there so we would have a home "base" for the F+W festival.

Since becoming members of DVC we've stayed at OKW, SSR, BWV and BCV and we enjoy BWV the most. Don't get me wrong, all 4 have been great (and we can hardly wait to try VWL), but for us BWV feels the most at "home".

welcome home---we are BWV owners and will be there again in 10 days! I love it there except of course I have to say the parking is terrible, the hallways are long, the place is noisy and the pool is scary and the rooms are tiny so I suggest anybody thinking of staying there should really book elsewhere---especially whenever I want to go... :teeth:

Hi there, Congratulations on your purchase. :thumbsup2

We recently added on at BWV in December. Love the Epcot area and wanted 11 month booking window for Food and Wine Festival.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. One piece of info I didn't pick up from this board that made me happy was the fact that I was able to put the purchase price on my credit card. The 13,000 points on my Starwood card gives me a free night or two in a Westin or Sheraton, which largely makes up for the slightly higher price with Disney compared to resale. Of course, this only works if you are not financing.

Where can I get information about the food and wine festival? I've never heard of it, but it seems quite poplular around here.
