Life has been sad at our house lately...so to lift our spirits..we're going to WDW for Christmas!!!!
Now...the dilemma...rent a great house off property (6 miles) or stay onsite. Hubby loves to golf and will do so most days. Unless I get up with him and drop off and pick up in order to keep the car...I could be housebound? I think I have answered my own question but welcome thoughts!:bounce:

You'll love WDW at Christmas! We stayed there for the first time two years ago and loved it so much, we're going back for more this year! I say stay onsite - you'll be able to get into the parks if they fill up and you'll be able to use Disney transportation, meaning you can both do what you want to, without leaving the other housebound.

Enjoy your trip! :D

Will you be able to get an onsite ressie at this late date? I had trouble getting one the middle of Oct. for Dec.!

Just booked Port Orleans/French Quarter arriving Dec 23-January 3rd/2003!!!!! Even managed Califirnia Grille for Christmas Eve and Cape May for Christmas dinner!! Sometimes things just come together allright...even at this late date!!!
We have been to WDW for many Christmas occasions (including last year) and find there's nowhere better in our opinion! Thanks for giving me the boost in my decision making!:bounce:

Christmas at Disney is so magical that I am sure it will help lift your spirits. Congratulations on getting your resort and dinner ressies. Enjoy!

How exciting! That was excellent planning on such short notice. Have a wonderful time!

With late planning at least you don't have to wait so long!! The other 2 times we've been to Disney we had to wait for 7-8 months and that is a long time!! This will be our first X-Mas and I can hardly wait to see my grandchildrens eyes!! Glad you got the ressies you wanted. The only trouble I had was with Chef Mickey's and that's our favorite! I kept calling back and finally got a 9pm which is awful late but we can't do Disney without Chef Mickey's! We are also doing California Grill and had no trouble getting a 12 noon! I guess the reason I had trouble with a resort is because we wanted AKL deluxe savannah! Actually wanted concierge but couldn't afford it for 2 rooms!! Amazing what they charge for those rooms!!

Call earlier in the day (and maybe the day before) to get an earlier PS at Chef Mickey's. Failing that...arrive a little earlier around 8 or so....I bet you get seated within 15 minutes. I often call for Chef Mickeys and I am told...sorry, nothing available...so over I go and as a 'walk-in' I've never...never...not been seated within 15-20 minutes!! You would be surprised how many people do not show up for PS bookings! Good Luck....:Pinkbounc

Congrats! You will have a great time!

Did you get a good rate at PO-FQ?

I was able to find a deluxe with a discount code for cheaper than a moderate.

You can PM me if you want and I'll give you the details.

Thank You Minnie! I will definitely give that a try. 9pm is awful late for the 4 year old. I have called several times and I had one CM tell me to call back the morning of my ressie in case someone canceled and then next time I called the new CM told me that would never work but to call everyday!! It's long distance! I will definitely give your idea a try. If it doesn't work we can always shop around for an hour. Thanks!

we had a similar ps problem with ohana. we had a change of plans & wanted to go earlier. we called to ask about availability & was told there was nothing. I then called the restaurant directly & they said come on over! We were seated very quickly. :)
