We haven't been to Disneyland since DCA was a parking lot.

We are spending 8 days and 7 nights at the DLH and park hopping. Wow, less than three weeks from now.

First, thanks already to DarkBeer, HydroGuy and all the rest that have brought my knowledge level from zero to one.

We are bringing a newly minted 6 year old and a big two year old. Doing the no car thing, and the afternoon nap and pool thing. I am wondering, though, if my big two year old will be able to go on many fun rides. We'd like to try the matterhorn maybe once with him. He is tall enough, and loves thrills. I just don't know if he needs to be three years old.

Anyway, we will be down there Aug 7 to the 14th. Any cool advice would be appreciated. I've looked at alot of info. I know what I know, just not what I don't know.

Thanks,

Wade and Basia

There is no age restriction on Matterhorn, just a height restriction, so if he measures up, you're set. If he's scared of the "Yeti" just tell him his name is Harold and he wants to offer him a snow cone. He's really a sweet Yeti, just loud and misunderstood. ;) :lmao:

You can do tons of fun rides with your 2 year old. On my maps there are no age limits, only height limits. So if he is over 40-42 inches you can do a lot of things.

40 inches -
Splash Mtn.
Big Thunder Mtn
Gadget's Go Coaster (35")
Matterhorn (35")
Space Mtn
Star Tours
Tower of Terror
Jumpin' Jellyfish
Soarin' Over California

Plus all of the Fantasy Land rides

42 inches -
Mulholland Madness
Grizzly River Run

Can't think of anything else, maybe someone else will have some suggestions.

Of course, you can also do Pirates and Haunted Mansion (no height requirements) Some of the bigger things you won't be able to do with the boys - Indiana Jones, Maliboomer, California Screamin'. But you can still do lots of things.

My 3 year old loved Soarin, he can't wait to go on it again. He was just barely 40 inches when we went last March, so we taught him how to stand up tall for the measuring sticks instead of ducking under them so a CM could get his/her hand under there. We practiced standing up very straight and tall for a few days before we went so he would be prepared.

Hope that Helps!!

Your 2 year old will have plenty of fun things to do! (As a previous poster listed). On my last trip with my nephews, the younger one was only 1 1/2 and he actually had more fun than the 3 1/2 year old. He loved everything... except the heat!

Have a great time. I am sure it will be even more special experiencing the park after so many years and having your kids with you this time!

I recall being too affraid to ride the matterhorn when I was about 4.5 years old. I then finally went on it on the very last night of the trip at abuot 1130 pm and wanted to do it over again, but we couldnt (ride was really rough on my dad's back i remember). My sister wouldn't do it. I still remember standing in line for 20 minutes and just being so scared because your'e right beside the mountain and here the people screaming and its dark, then just going crazy after I got off, total cliche, yelling again again!

Having said that, the point of the story is, I bet your kids will have a blast, and maybe will be a bit more adventurous than I was.

So really the Yeti is just the Abominable Snow "Cone" Man? :rotfl:

"Hey kids, get your snow cones here, only $5.95!"

Well it is Disney, you don't expect the snow cones to be cheap, do you? Anyway, I like that idea DangerMouse! I will have to save that one for future use! To the OP, have a blast at DLR. My last visit (back when I was a local) was ten years ago. The lot was closed and there was construction starting. I can't wait to see what they did to that old lot with my own eyes! 18 days!
