We Got The Mouse to Pay for Our Disney Feasts! w/PICS! REPORT COMPLETED!

Great review and love your pics. Your boys are adorable!

May I ask, how were the buns on the burgers? I heard they now have these really dry wheat buns at all the restaurants.

Ya know, I actually don't eat buns generally... normally I'm a low carber (away from Disney), and that's one thing I don't particularly care about... so maybe someone else can chime in regarding the burger buns...

For me, it's all about the meat and cheese (and bacon, if applicable)! ;)

Great reviews - :)
We really enjoy Cosmic Rays but have seen some bad reviews recently so it's good to see that your family enjoyed their lunch

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe

Alright so we're in MK, and I'm not too fond of the CS places in MK. Scary enough, but I like the CS in DHS much better. Again my wonderful DSIL wanted Ribs, so we ventured off to Cosmic Rays for the first of two trips if I remember correctly. But we had spent the morning in Tomorrowland, and it made sense since we still had a ton to do that day in that area.

DH got Ribs again with the Chocolate Cake. YUM!

I got the Adult Chicken Nugget Meal ( FTR DSIL, Chicken Nuggets are much different than bone in chicken for my chicken aversion). Let me tell you again as a picky picky Chicken person this chicken was all white meat delish meal. I forget exactly how many nuggets I got, but it was plenty to share with Baby, and we were both satisfied both trips we made to Cosmic Rays.

This first time DSIL forgot to remind us to get super large drinks, and I was stuck with a medium which was a tragedy to this super soda drinker. So definitely make sure to order the large if you like to drink since there is no extra charge on DDP.

Guess what DSIL scheduled us for dinner that night.....LMAO you guessed it Ribs at Whispering Canyons. I think if DSIL could only eat ribs for the rest of her life she'd do it! This Anti-Rib Dis'er wasn't too thrilled with food choices for the first two days, but there were PLENTY of choices for this carb-a-holic later in the week!

Hey, DizzyMrsLizzy... let's just set the record straight here... I'm not the only one who loves ribs... how about that guy you're married to... ya know, my brother! :cool2:

Yes but DSIL YOU were the one that made all of our ADRs :) So I can't blame him for 3 meals of Ribs in a row :) :) :). Good thing I like you :)

PS- You may want to send me a reminder on Wednesday to get you some Pep. Pinwheels. I'm very scatterbrained right now!

First of all, you did not have ribs for 3 meals in a row, I did! (You opted for your favorite, chicken)...

Second, Cosmic Ray's did not require an ADR, and

Third, I ran all of the ADRs past you to get your approval... and I got your approval...

Oh no... I hope you remembered the pepperoni pinwheels! There's a food that needs to be added to a Disney menu...

Did I mention that you're my favorite sister-in-law?

Whispering Canyon Cafe

Dinner

September 27, 2009

Ok... here it is... third meal in two days in which I get ribs! :lovestruc

So it isn't all about the ribs... I know that dsil was interested in trying the bottomless milkshakes... of course Baby enjoyed it!

There was lots to keep Big Guy busy while we waited for food...

IMG_2394.jpg

Where's Little Guy? Sleeping! Can you believe it?!?! Despite all the hustle and bustle of activity all around, he slept in his stroller next to our table through most of the meal!

Hubby enjoyed his Jug o' Diet Coke...

IMG_2392.jpg

And not only did he finish it (he's 2 for 2!) He asked for more! Believe me, the waiter make a big deal about that one... guess he doesn't hear that every day! :lmao:

Apparently I didn't take pictures of the salad... not really the reason why we were there... ;)

But we did all agree to the skillet... massive when you have lots of people doing it...

IMG_2404.jpg

Here's my plate...

IMG_2397.jpg

I was pretty fond of the pulled pork, corn on the cob, and, of course, the ribs! :cloud9: (But I must say, they're much better when you put the BBQ sauce on which they keep in a separate pitcher.)

Dsil enjoyed at least the corn...

IMG_2398.jpg

Did she enjoy anything else though? Perhaps the chicken? ;)

We got our necessary condiments...

IMG_2396.jpg

And shared them around too...

IMG_2400.jpg

And, with a bottomless skillet, of course we got some seconds... I requested seconds on ribs! :goodvibes I think the family also got more brisket and corn.

We worked off some calories with the Hokey Pokey...

IMG_2401.jpg

IMG_2402.jpg

Doesn't it look like Baby's wondering what his mommy is doing?

We were, of course, stuffed... but they knew it was Grandmom's birthday at WCC...

IMG_2406.jpg

All our other desserts were taken to go, but Grandmom's birthday cake (the chocolatey fudgy good stuff cake) was also what she ordered as her DDP dessert, so she stuffed it all together in one box...

IMG_2411.jpg

Hubby also had this cake. My opinion? Good, chocolatey, but rich... especially heavy if you consider having it after a bottomless skillet!

I got the s'more cheesecake. I like it... I remember the first time I got it I expected more chocolate, but as long as you think of it as mostly cheesecake with a little chocolate and mashmallow on top, it's good!

IMG_2413.jpg

Dsil and my brother got the apple caramel pie (which appears more cakey/cobblery than pie-like).

IMG_2412.jpg

This ended up sitting in the fridge in the room for a few days. I finally tried some and thought it was totally not worth the calories. Looks a lot better than it tastes, but that could also be partially because we didn't eat it fresh.

Overall... we love the experience... just wish we could've retired immediately to our room in the same location, but alas... we were at an All-Star this trip...

But it's ok for me! I'll be back to Whispering Canyon & for a night at Wilderness Lodge on Christmas Eve Eve... yes, two Eve's... Dec 23. I'm totally looking forward to it! Sorry, dsil if you won't be there for that... maybe next time! :goodvibes But Grandmom, the boys and I will be thinking of you while we're there!

Whispering Canyons-

So this was my LEAST favorite meal that we had while in the land of the mouse. While it was entertaining with all of the cute things they did (See photos above) the food was less than desirable for this Pseudo Veggie. There was NOTHING on the menu that looked anywhere close to desirable for me, but again I was being a nice SIL and appeasing to one of DSIL's choices. Thank goodness for Free DDP!

I ordered the Skillet, because I figured I'd at least be able to eat unlimited corn, potatos, salad and the things that I did like. DBIL and I sat on one side of the table with Baby, and DSIL, DH, and Grandmom sat on the other side of the table, as a result DBIL and I got a smaller plate of Skillet and the other guys got a bigger Skillet. Our skillet only had dark meat chicken in it, which kind of upset me, and by the time I got to looking at the other skillet all of the pieces I would have liked were gone as well. I didn't feel like being a pain, so I tried some brisket. I usually like brisket somewhat, but I wasn't a huge fan. It was a little drier then I would have liked.

I did also try the ribs. I'm NOT a rib person, but I was starving after my salad corn on the cob and a few slivers of brisket. The Ribs were pretty good. Not fatty at all like you get at some places. I usually stear clear of ribs, but these I'd get again if I had to go back there.

I choose the milkshake to drink because DSIL talked up the bottomlessness of it. It was good, but I wish I would have gotten a soda. I'm a much bigger soda drinker, and after seeing DBIL's huge container of soda, I was really jealous. Our waiter wouldn't let me switch. BLAH.

All in all, EVERYONE loved this meal except for me. I know i'm a little skewed because i'm not a meaty person. My family probably won't return here since we have lots of favorites here.

i

So it sounds to me as if DSIL would have been perfectly fine if she had simply asked us for some white meat chicken from our skillet... which I wasn't eating in the first place...

Do you really think it would've been that much trouble to get those few words out of your mouth and get the one thing that would've made you feel better - white meat CHICKEN!!! I had know idea you wanted that! Speak up, woman!

Sorry if you're not thrilled with meat... but you didn't have to order the skillet either, ya know? Don't let the crowd sway you... go against the flow!

Glad you were honest about the ribs actually not being bad! :)

I don't understand why the waiter wouldn't let you switch from the shake to the soda. In July, when hubby didn't care for the shake, the waitress brought him soda... (ya know, the time he ended up getting his first jug o' Diet Coke)... it's not even like soda costs the restaurant a lot. You could have asked for more and more shake like you were entitled to, but you were requesting an option that would've been cheaper for the restaurant! I really don't get it! I can understand how that would be putting a damper on the meal... in the hot FL weather, all ya really need is a cold drink to wash your food down, so if the shake wasn't workin' for ya, and you were denied soda, that is kinda blah... :snooty:

I am enjoying the banter between the two of you! My DP does not order the skillet and orders something different from the menu as pork and briscuit does not work for her! :rotfl:

But DSIL I don't really like chicken all that much either, so really I was happy with what I ate for what it was. If I really needed another breast I could have asked for it :) You know I'm not shy! :)

Now hurry up and post your next post so we can get this report a movin!
