We Got The Mouse to Pay for Our Disney Feasts! w/PICS! REPORT COMPLETED!

Was it a favorite because you didn't have chicken? :)

DSIL you silly thing, I DO like chicken, I'm just very picky about when and where I eat it. Chicken in a casserole YUM, Chicken on a bone, Eh, Dark meat chicken- NO WAY! No it wasn't a favorite because I didn't have chicken. I just loved it all around!

Although I haven't had the creme brulee at Chefs, I'm thinking that you can't really go wrong with a French dessert! :goodvibes

Um Just WAIT a minute here DSIL! Didn't you have the Creme Brulee at Chefs back in July? Or are you forgetting about your DR where you said you were nauseas after eating the Creme Brulee the last time?!?!?

White meat good is the only acceptable form... you only like white... I see... you're just a racist... and admitting such a thing on MLK Day... of all days! You should be ashamed of yourself...

:upsidedow

Get your facts straight, woman! Nausea-inducing creme brulee was the maple flavored one from Le Cellier... the burnt top combined with the maple flavor left a coffee-esque flavor in my mouth... and any coffee aroma can tend to do that to me if it's too strong, so imagine having not merely an aroma but a flavor stuck in my mouth. I can't just hold my nose or turn and walk away from it... its in my mouth! And Le Cellier is Canadian, not French... and don't try to start with any French Canadian jargon because it's a moo point... like a cow's opinion... it's moo... ;)

Tutto Italia

Lunch

September 30, 2009

Boy did we work up an appetite getting to Tutto! When you're in Future World and have an ADR in Italy, it's along walk... but I'm glad I was hungry when I got there... I found one of my favorite Italian dishes of all time... you'll just have to keep reading to find out what it was...

On a side note, this lunch didn't turn out to be the way it was supposed to... since my brother's birthday was just two weeks earlier than my mom's, and it was the big 3-0, and he love Italian food, I snuck him onto our ADR as a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, he started getting sick, and it was at this meal that he really started turning for the worse... so I'm trying to motion to the waiters periodically (as our meal went on and my brother was just looking worse and worse) about nixing the birthday thing... fortunately, they haulted the celebration before he'd have a really bad memory of celebrating his birthday in Italy and hurling in front of the entire waitstaff or something... (that's my wild imagination... you don't need to listen to it)

Anyhoo... our meal... it started with these complimentary items...

IMG_2622.jpg

I hate olives, so I didn't touch those... and I tried the bread, but unless it's got butter on it, I'm not really interested... so let's move on to something better, shall we?

Big Guy and Little Guy got appetizers on the dining plan, and only Big Guy ate his (because it's one of his favorite foods), but Little Guy didn't have any interest in any appetizers - so we got him the same thing as Big Guy and shared it amongst the adults. :)

IMG_2623.jpg

Mozzarella sticks... er... balls...

They were a fabulous texture. My only complaint is that I'm used to a more salty mozzarella... this was basically sodium-free according to my taste buds. I do know Big Guy loved his though!

For the main meal, both boys got the pizzetta (pizza... duh)...

IMG_2624.jpg

This was a different pizza than we got for the kids in other places. I thought it was kind of a nice different, but my kids didn't... I think Big Guy tolerated it more than Little Guy though...

I think this was dsil's meal... though I don't honestly remember what it is...

IMG_2626.jpg

It looks like a nice presentation though! I think she liked it.

My mom and I couldn't decide on one thing each, so we decided to get two meals and split them both. One meal was the lasagna al forno (which I think was also what my brother had).

IMG_2627.jpg

It was very tasty! Not your typical Olive Garden dish... definitely had it's own flavor... can't put my finger on it though. I just know that I liked it!

The other meal that my mother and I shared, however, was THE BEST ITALIAN DISH I'VE EVER HAD!

We got it because I felt like something with a cream sauce, and it appealed to my mom as well... though I must say I didn't remember previously seeing it in any other dining reports before our trip.

It's Gnocchi Verdi Grataniti (baked spinach potato gnocchi, fontina, parmesan, mozzarella, gorgonzola)...

IMG_2625.jpg

Something creamy - it was indeed! Oh, the most delicious combination of cheeses covered the little gnocchi! (Gnocchi are like little seasoned potato-ish balls - these also had spinach in them.) And it was all cooked just right, with just the right amount of browning on top. It was a very rich meal, but I know that I would gladly eat an entire portion of just this the next time I return to Tutto! :cloud9:

So I was already in heaven with the gnocchi, but we still haven't had dessert!

Big Guy had a plain vanilla gelato...

IMG_2633.jpg

Simple, but it was exactly what he wanted! (Sorry about the blurry picture... I wasn't very focused...)

Dsil had a cannoli... (db got one to go, I believe... he wasn't eating dessert there with the way he was feeling). I loved the presentation on the plate though...

IMG_2631.jpg

Isn't that cute?

Little Guy got chocolate mousse... which was probably the most fancy presentation we saw the whole trip for a child's dessert...

IMG_2629.jpg

He enjoyed it! His eyes got really big as soon as he saw it... it was so cute!

I had the Copetta Sotto Bosco (berries, zabaglione cream gelato and chocolate sauce)... and honestly, I got it mostly because I'd never had a $14 dessert before, without it feeding a party of 8-10... :)

IMG_2632.jpg

I didn't know what to expect. I did think it was a little overpriced (would never get it again unless I was on the dining plan again). The berries were fresh, and the gelato was very good... almost reminded me of an egg nog type of flavor. It was very creamy, and you could tell it was a superior richness to your everyday ice cream. I enjoyed it a lot - just wouldn't pay $14 for it. If I came back on the dining plan, I would possibly get this, or what my mom ordered...

Grandmom had the Torta di Gianduia (creamy chocolate mascarpone torte with whipped cream and raspberry sauce).

The actual Tutto menu had the English translation with raspberry misspelled...

IMG_2628.jpg

This is what the actual dessert looked like...

IMG_2630.jpg

It was good! I don't think it stood out among other chocolate cakes we've come across in Disney, except for the fact that I really like raspberry sauce with my chocolate cake. Ok, maybe I'm leaning slightly toward having this over the Copetta Sotto Bosco should I get a dessert here in the future...

So... in a nutshell, I'd like come back to Tutto and get gnocchi... I highly recommend it. There's some other good stuff here too, but I really think people should try the gnocchi!

:goodvibes

More to come soon... so keep staying tuned!

Another wonderful review with great pictures
The Gnocci looks so yummy :cool1:

Great reviews! :goodvibes

Tutto Italia was fantastic when we visited in September and it's on our list of ADRs for this summer. LOVE the look of that gnocchi, I hope it's still there in August!

Your photos are very good by the way.

:rotfl2:LOL:rotfl2:

I am absolutely loving your DR! You and your SIL crack me up!! I won't eat dark meat chicken either, and I would just die if I bit into a chicken vein and blood came spurting out. I have never been one to eat the veins, but I know some people who eat all the chicken on the bone and then are licking the bone when they are done. I am just not one of those people, but I do love white meat chicken.

Your pictures are awesome, and I must say that I really want to try Gnocchi now. Anything in a cream sauce is good for me. I would rather have white sauce over red sauce any day. I think I would rather have little guy's mousse out of all the desserts.

Keep the laughter coming!popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

Your dining report is making me hungry...great job! I can't wait to go to Disney, although I don't know when that will be, but when we do I will have to try out some of the yummy meals that you guys have had. Can't wait to read more.

Honestly, I prefer white meat over dark meat chicken too... I guess that's why it can cost more... but I don't really have a problem with dark meat. White meat just has bigger chunks of meat with fewer bones, so it's easier eat. But if someone takes all the meat off the bones for me, it's all good...

Try the gnocchi! Seriously!

 Yum... gnocchi! :cloud9:

Part of the fun of dining in Disney is finding out what's good from these dining reviews ahead of time. That's how we made many of our ADRs...

If you try nothing else though, try the gnocchi!

 Yum... gnocchi! :cloud9:

Oh yeah... Gnocchi!!! :lovestruc

God that gnocchi looks good! We may have to go to Tutto a few times on our next trip so I can get my fill of that dish (I may  gnocchi just a little bit).

Sorry I've been MIA a few days! DSIL you really need to tell me in advanced when you are posting these things. You know this SAHM has a BUSY schedule! Glad you all are enjoying our banter. You should see us in person 8:o). We're a crazy bunch. Anyway onto the rest of this dining report!

Tutto Italia!

Again one of my top 3 meals of the week. I am an Italian afficianado. It's my complete favorite food. I'm a NYer and I have been to hundreds of NY Italian restaurants, and there are some good and some bad. I wasn't looking forward to this meal at all. I had been when it was the old Italian restaurant back in the 90s when it was Alfredo di Roma and HATED it. It wasn't real Italian, but cheap nasty jarred sauce tasting Italian, much like what Tony's Town Square is like now. (Although I enjoy Tony's mostly for the appearance, and tolerable food IMO) DSIL was insistent on this ADR, and I'm glad she forced the subject on me. Boy was I GREATLY surprised by this here.

This was a long day in the parks for Baby bear, and he had fallen asleep shortly before this meal started. I was a bit disappointed for him, because Italian is one of his favorites also. I luckily didn't have to pay OOP for a meal for him here, but he snacked on some of either Big or Little guy (I think it was Little Guys) leftover pizza. I want to say that Little guy didn't eat much this meal.

DH hadn't been feeling well all day, and I twisted his arm to come to lunch at Tutto, because it was one he was really looking forward to. I probably should have just encouraged him to go back to the room earlier, but I popped him full of cold meds, and off we went to lunch. He was MISERABLE the entire time. Now let me say....This was the start of how our trip fell apart. I know that belongs in our Trip report, but this trip EVERYONE got very sick for at least one day (except for myself, Grandmom, and DSIL's Big guy). Everyone else got this mystery illness.

DH and I started out our meal ordering a separate order of the mozzarella balls. The waiter allowed us to order this off of the kids menu. I don't remember what he charged us for them, but it was very reasonable. DSIL was right it wasn't salted, it was pure fresh Mozzarella. YUM. So much better then the processed garbage that we get in the supermarket. I always buy real Mozz. when I have the opportunity.

Also DSIL, REAL Italians prefer Olive oil on their bread as opposed to butter. Butter is just so.....Norwegian :) kidding kidding. The Olive oil tasted a bit strong here. I'd guess it wasn't EVOO but it was still good and did it's job.

As DSIL pictured in her post I had the Tagliatelle alla Primavera. It was really the only thing on the menu that I thought I'd enjoy. I'm not a lasagne person, I make my own Gnocchi, and the thought of veal meatballs didn't really sit well with me (I know real gravy is made with veal also, but I don't do it personally). The Primavera was perfect. Perfect amount of cream. Nice Veggie selection, and beautiful perfectly al dente noodles. Definitely one of my favorite meals of the week, and I'd recommend it over the gnocchi, which was good but just a little over cheesy for my palate.

DH had the Lasagne. He doesn't really remember it, but he was sickly sick and left halfway though the meal. I don't even think he stayed for dessert. Don't worry! He was at least feeling a lot better that night after sleeping all afternoon, and joined us for dinner in the hotel.

Dessert for me was a Cannoli. It was decent. There's not much you can really do to screw up a cannoli. It was fresh and not soggy. That's really all i look for in a cannoli. LOL.

Don't listen to her! Get the gnocchi! Much better than that bowl of pathetic looking noodles dsil got!

What does she know about good food anyway... she actually likes bread with oily goo instead of butter!

Ok, fine... we each have our own opinions... if you're an oily goo on bread type of person, get the noodles...

But if you're a bit more refined and like the more proper northern European flavors, such as creamy butter-smothered bread, then get the gnocchi! :goodvibes

BTW, dsil, I plan on posting some more this evening, so consider this me telling you in advance. ;)

Can't wait to hear about 1900 Park Fare!! I'm looking to eat there next year and I don't want to go unless I know it's going to be worth our while.

Oh WHATEVER DSIL! Whatever!

BTW Sunday is bad for me. I'm leaving in about 10 minutes and will be out all night, so throw your advanced notice right out the window! LOL. (of course that's probably a good thing because since I turned on the Jets/Colts game the score went from 13/7 Jets to 27/17 Colts. EEK!)

I'll beat you- Tusker House

- BLECH! Was not thrilled at all with Tusker House. It was okay Breakfast Buffet, but Donald's Breakfastsaurus was much better. If you can only do one breakfast buffet go Crystal Palace all the way. It's all about the choices. If I had this breakfast first I probably wouldn't have been disappointed, but being as though I had CP first, I had an expectation of kinds of foods I was looking for, and they just weren't there. And that's all I really have to say about that!
