We were going from TTC over to MK. We had just gone through the Contemporary Resort - and bam - monorail stops. They played the recording about traffic. So, I thought, "oh okay - no big deal."

And we waited. And waited. The monorail car was crazy crowded - people were packed in and we were standing. It was about 100 degrees outside and the sun was shining in. The air was on, of course, but I swear I coudln't breathe! I'm not good with that "stuck" feeling.

In the end, we were stuck there for 25 minutes. They never came back on to tell us what was happening or why it was so long. I honestly started to feel panicky!

Has anyone else had this happen?

We got stuck once right by Grand Floridian. But that was in January so it was neither hot nor crowded. I'm not sure how long we were there...it was longer than I remember being stuck in the past. But it was a great chance to get some amazing photos of GF and MK!

We got stuck when we were "driving" the monorail last September. The driver explained that part of the problem was that it was all monitored by electronics, so if it senses a monorail coming close to you, your monorail would be stopped.

In our case, the monorail in front of us was having trouble, so we were unable to move until it was "clear".

Last trip we were in a monorail that accidently went past our stop at the MK parking lot. The monorail stopped sat there while , then went backwards , then the doors didnt open for a quite a long while. It had everyone freaked out a bit. It would move a couple inches then do nothing and repeat. Went on for around about 30 minutes . We were the only ones in the cabin so I didnt get to hear others reactions.

I am asumming that they might have to reset the sensors since the monorail might have not wanted to open once it passes its dock.

I would have thought it was cool if I didnt have kids with me that were getting nervous and if we hadnt had such bad luck on the rides that day.

Everything we went on broke down ( a slow day in Sept). I think thats what made the kids nervous. My 2 younger boys had already been stuck on TTA in the dark part 2 times that day and when my DD and I went on Thunder Mountain it stopped for a bit in the cave and then it appeared we were hit from behind by another train. Thats what everyone gathered but I was in the front and couldnt see . I did feel like something hit hard and someone in the back said thats what happened. At any rate it set us on edge the rest of the day. For our 3rd time that day we got stuck on Pirates . I LOVE that ride and didnt care but it was a long time to everyone else.

So as we sat on the monorail I was thinking I sure hope we dont get hit by another coming in! lol

Hey maybe you were in the monorail behind me . lol

DH got stuck on the monorail one time for about 45 minutes! :scared: He siad they told them the track had been hit by lightening & knocked out the electronic whatever.... He was between GF & MK.

I can't imagine being stuck up there for 45 minutes. I'd be working really hard not to get panicky. He didn't panic, but he was getting irritated. He was hungry & was on his way to meet us for dinner.

I've been stuck for 50 minutes before. Thankfully I only had my oldest (who was 4 at the time.) Had I had my entire bunch with me, there would have been some really annoyed people on that monorail. HAHA. My kids go wild when stuck in 1 spot for too long. There were some kids on there jumping off the seats and climbing strollers and swinging around the poles.... Thankfully it was a pretty empty monorail in the middle of the day. LOL. If it would have been in the AM or PM when the parks are opening or closing, it would have been a NIGHTMARE. HAHA

We were stuck on a monorail (not for 25 minutes, but it sure felt like it), fortunately we were the family who got to sit in the very front so we got to find out about a LOT of interesting things about the monorail while waiting. The driver explained to us (like one PP had mentioned) that if another monorail gets too close the sensors go off. We just got onto the monorail in the CR and we hadn't been cleared to leave the station before we got stuck.

Count yer blessings!

I once got stuck at Bush Gardens Williamsburg on the monorail that runs from their park to the brewery tour next door. It was July, about 90 degrees, and the A/C broke on the monorail.

We were stuck for about 15 minutes before someone inside the car figured out how to pry the doors open and get some air circulating (there were several people very close to passing out from the heat). And after about 45 minutes, the train was evacuated and all of the passengers were walked off the line and into the brewery (BG's monorail, fortunately, had a pedestrian walkway along it's track, making mid-trac evac possible).

In April we were riding in the car with the driver and leaving Epcot. The monorail went maybe 2 feet and stopped. driver pushed a few buttons and nothing happened. He called 'central command' and no one responded. Could hear all other kinds of chatter, but no one said anything to him. He called again and got a response. They talked a bit and then he was told to shut everything down and reboot the system. Every now and then he would make an annoucement to the other passengers telling them that they hoped to be moving soon. Took a few minutes for the system to reboot and then we left. Got to where the monorail makes a left as it heads past the Epcot parking lot and it stopped again. Had to do the whole process again to get it started up. Then as we went to the TTC we never went very fast at all. But I know that while we were stopped, the others on that loop also had to be stopped, no where for them to go. I am sure that sitting in the front and listening to the driver made the time go by more quickly than if we were just in the back.

It has happened to us a few times on past trips. Mostly it seemed to happen when the weather was very hot. And on at least one occasion the a/c was not working, so it was quite unpleasant. :headache:

I was in a similar situation when my dad and I were in MK in December, I think it was 3 years ago. It was super crowded, 2 weeks before Christmas, and we got stuck on Buzz Lightyear for 30 min, and the TTA broke down I don't know how many times, and it seemed like every ride we tried to go on would either break down while we were on it or was already broken down or had an unbelievable wait time.

And the morning of, we had to go to the Poly for Ohana breakfast and it randomly stopped without any intercom explanation, it was kinda strange, we were the only ones in our car

I always laught when people say how great the monorail resorts are....and they are when the monorails are working right! But more often than not we had extended stops due to breakdowns. Most were 10 minutes or so, but some were as long as 20 minutes. We usually have found the resort monorail to have the most problems.

thats what happens when you ride 20+ year old stuff :) On another note - we rode in the front yesterday on our way out and the pilot thought they were getting new ones in the next few years as Disneyland is supposedly getting them soon... take that for what its worth!

Well after our situation, I made my family take the BOAT back out of the MK! It took a while, but it was lovely!

Last summer I lost the lens cap from my camera in the Haunted Mansion. I didn't know enough to check in City Hall that day for it, so I asked a couple of days later when we were back in MK.

As a result, DD19 and I wound up taking the monorail over to the TTC to retrieve my cap. They were having trouble with the monorails, one of the lines wasn't running (I honestly don't remember which one now) and we had to use the other line to get to TTC.

When we were ready to go back to MK, a CM at the entrance to the monorail station told us they were down, and he didn't know how long it would take to get them running again, so it would be quicker to take the boat. As we were waiting for the boat to depart, I noticed the monorail leaving the station, and don't you know it, the monorail beat us to MK by at least a couple of minutes.

The boat ride was fun though, and I hadn't been on it since I was a little kid.

This happened to us on our honeymoon. We were getting ready to leave the TTC to go to Epcot. We started to go and then we stopped. They played the pre-recorded message about a 'safety check,' but after 30 minutes we started to think otherwise. It was mid-July and obviously there was no AC working. I was starting to get really claustrophobic, but luckily our car wasn't that full. We waited for 45+ minutes before it started back up again. I have my doubts that it was actually a safety check. Would they really last THAT long??

We got stuck for 1/2 an hour in December. They made an announcement that the monorail in front of us was having problems and they had to get it off the track before we could move forward. Once they got that cleared, we had to sit through the safety testing before we started going again.

Wow, your driver was behind the times. Disneyland got the new ones last year! We just missed riding them when we were there. One was in test but not taking on guests yet.
