Day C, Saturday Sept 15, Part 2
When I last left you, we were driving over from Animal Kingdom to MGM (it's gonna be weird when it changes names...I think I'll still call it MGM!). We had plenty of time, because it was 12:45 when they picked me up, and our ADR wasn't until 1:45pm. After we parked, we took the tram to the entrance. I forgot to tell you, the previous day, I had managed to *not* watch my head as I entered the tram at Magic Kingdom, and had bumped it and hurt it pretty well. Well, before getting on the MGM one, I told everyone I had to remember to duck, and wouldn't you know it? I almost did it again! Just barely touched the top this time. My goodness, I need to pay better attention, if I do say so myself.
Once we got inside, we took advantage of the photopass guy to take my and Morgan's picture with the hat.
After that, John and I took all 4 of our passes to go get Fastpasses for Tower of Terror. John and Gail (Morgan's mom) weren't staying after lunch, so Morgan and I got 2 sets each! Awesome! We would have gotten a pair for Rock'n'Rollercoaster, but alas, it was closed for refurbishment. I was very disappointed, as I love that ride! Oh well, I'll get to go in November.
Anyway, after we got the Fastpasses, we joined Morgan and Gail at 50's Prime Time Cafe. They had already checked us in and found out that my favorite server was not there. Bummer
but that's okay, we could have fun no matter who our server was. We were called to eat literally right after John and I walked in. Time for lunch!
We got a nice server, she did try her best to be into it, calling John "Skippy" and making sure us kids set the table. Skippy had to wear a baby bib, just in case he spilled. She also fed Gail her green beans by helicopter when she failed to finish them herself. I wish I had a picture of that! It was hysterical. I love that place! We had such a great time, I wouldn't expect anything less!
Once we were done, Morgan and I parted ways with her parents. They went home and we went to the Tower of Terror.
That's what we did when the photopass guy told us to look scared
The line was really short but we used our FPs anyway. We were on real quick, and Morgan almost enjoyed it. Ha ha, she has a bit of a fear of heights, so the part where you see out the top got her a little. The rest of it she said she was fine with. I figured it was worth it. I had explained the ride to her beforehand (unlike Soarin last year
), and she told me she'd be fine with it. And she pretty much was. We just decided not to go on it again. Hey, that's okay, I've done it many times before and will do it many times again
After ToT, we spent some time doing what Morgan loves best - looking through the shops. I'd have to say that's her favorite part of going to the parks. She'll oblige me and go on rides, so I make sure to slow down for her as well. And I actually ended up buying a shirt and a Dori stuffed animal. I figured, I love MGM so much, I had to get an MGM tshirt. And I'm a huge Ellen fan, and I love Nemo, so Dori was perfectly fitting.
We saw another Photopass guy, so got our picture taken once again
Aren't we cute? And aren't we weirdos
?
Then it was time to go on a ride more of Morgan's speed - The Great Movie Ride. But we had to wait 20 minutes for it! I was complaining and Morgan asked me what I expected? And I said "No lines! I had no lines in August, I don't wanna wait on any stinkin' lines!" Ha, then I laughed at myself and calmed down. After that, the 20 minutes went pretty quickly and we were on. This time, we got the cowboy, which was nice, as I had the mobster in August (if you've been reading, you already know that!).
After the GMR, we noticed that lots of characters were out, so we went and waited on a few lines to get pictures. The Wicked Queen was perfectly in character, and we were advised against touching her!
Next up was Bert and a penguin. They were nice and chipper.
We also saw Snow White and Dopey next to them, but their line was already closed. There were other characters by the hat, but they were all pretty much finishing up, so we didn't bother.
Next Morgan wanted to see the Muppets 3-D. Now, I hadn't done this since probably 2001, so I was up for it. Especially since it had no line! But we did have to wait a little while in the preshow area, I guess the "crowd" before us had just gone in. But that's okay, we sat on the ground and relaxed.
Since we were in the general area, we went over by the where the Toy Story characters hang out, and we were rewarded with Buzz and a Green Army Man. Buzz was great with us, even blushing over Morgan.
And the photographer with the Green Army Man had him stand faaaaar away, so that it looked like we were holding him. Morgan got a kick out of that!
After we were done with our pictures, Morgan was on a mission to find one of those Minute Maid frozen lemonades. But she was unhappy to find out they only had strawberry lemonade, not plain ones. So we asked around and found out where she could get a lemon slushie drink (I think it was at the dinosaur counter service place), so she was thrilled. I, on the other hand, was on a mission for an alcoholic beverage. I knew right where to go - Tune In Lounge! Got myself a Summer Splash, and it was nice and strong, and good as always.
We just walked around for a while as we drank our drinks, did some more window shopping, and had her parents pick us up at around 6. I know, I know, another short day, but Morgan didn't want to see any of the shows, so we were pretty limited in what we could do. Oh well, I was thrilled to have gotten to all 4 parks in just 2 days, and to have done lots of stuff that made me very happy
Afterwards, I went out to dinner with Morgan's parents, as Morgan didn't feel like going out again. We went to another local place, and I had the greatest Cobb Salad. It had lobster instead of chicken. Yummo! That has nothing to do with Disney though. And there, the Disney portion of my trip has ended.
