oh my goodness. here is a review on our trip to disney this week.
first we left early early friday morning, the flight was ok. we got to Orlando around 2pm, we go to the rental car stop and the woman says "oh im surprised your still here" Why?? I ask, oh b.c of the hurricane. UM WHAT HURRICAN. at this time im freaking out b.c she says its supposed to be way worse than charley blah blah she says its supposed to be here by Friday,saterday. I take the keys and leave, I tell Dh im concerend but we talk about it very little b.c of the kiddos, we finnally find the hotel after about 2 hours of getting lost (why does almost every street in Fl have to be a parkway or have a similar name)& why do they have stop lights on highways?? so we get in the room I watch the weather channel and what im watching is my worst nightmare. we called home, and talk to dh's dad , he says in Mass there is little mention of this, the wearther men say it "may" go by florida all together. I say "no its coming right for were we are". so we go to Epcot on Wends. we had a great day, I call the Airlines to get our tickets changed (b.c at first they were accually calling for it to be in Orlando around sunday). we got changed to saterday to be leaving at noon. we go to Disney on Thursday, HAVE THE BEST DAY. it was wonderful, a little hot but great, as we are leaving dh's cell phone rings, its dh's father, his cousin works for Delta the airlines are closing on Friday, so our flight on saterday goes out the window. I am now freaking out! dh is freaking out, we get back to the hotel there is basically a note that says fend for yourself. everyone and their mother was calling us (family) telling us what to do. I call the airlines to try and get us tickets to leave right then and there or super early Friday morning.
they tell me NO WAY, no flights until Tuesday. omg I cant stay in a strange place with 3 kids huddled in a hotel room during a horrible hurricane, our only option is to drive home, I didnt want to but we had to get out of there fast people were starting to panic. so we rented a luxury car ($200 a day) and drove here .....30 hours.....straight through, dh is sleeping, I cant sleep for some reason. this morning while driving through Philidelphia we were next to 2 cars racing , one flipped over and caught on fire thank god they were not that close to us, I have never wanted to be home so bad in my life.
so in a nutshell I am highly dissapointed that the kids vacation was cut so so short, although we had 2 great day, I did get lots of pics and will post them tomorrow.
I will pray for all those people that live in Florida that couldnt get to saftey.
If you have little girls I highly recomend the CInderellas castle breakfast, and go early. I was so pleased, we made our ressie for 8:30am, we got there early 8am , they let us right in, dh and all (it was only me and dd on ressie) it was wonderful, at lunch time we came across this rest. that had pooh and tigger and stuff inside, I asked if you need a priority seating for this, they said no and yes we would have to wait for a seat about 15 mins, they gave us one of those gadgets to call us, we sat down for 2 mins and we were in (go early also about 11:30) after we got in the lines started to form. the food was great (and with lots to choose from), $59 for 5 of us. we ate in Italy in Epcot and were not impressed, and spent ($80) for some pizzas and drinks NUTS!
we still have 3 days left on our park hopper passes(we were there for a total of 2 days), and tons of Disney $$'s left, I dont know when we will go back. the kids are so bummed. im bummed but im just glad we are safe.
