We thought for sure that we wouldn't get to see Bugland in CA since its grand opening is Oct. 7. However, last week they opened it up to the public. Our DD who's 3 loved it. There were 4 rides there and 1 ride she couldn't do--the bumper cars, which required 42". There was a water play area, where our kids got soaking wet. Bugland was beautifully built. In terms of funtime, it occupied our preschooler for 1 hour.

Thanks for your review, c&m! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. :)

Its wonderful to hear that you had a good time. I look foward to seeing it in Dec. The ride that DD had to be 42 inches, could you ride it with her?

No. They have to be 42" to ride with you. They have to be 47" to ride alone. The CM said it was because of the restraining system. I think it's a little short-sighted for Disney to have a 47" height requirement (actually one of the highest requirements for any Disney ride) in a part of the park built for kids. It's going to cause a lot of tears when the older kids can ride but the younger ones can't.

P.S. Am I wrong or is the 47" height restriction one of the highest in any park for any ride? Seems like my 41" daughter can ride just about everything in the parks...except of course in FFF!

I had to ride it with my DD who was over 42" but under 47". If you are over 47" you can ride alone.

I was thrilled that I had the opportunity to go to Bugland, because we aren't going back to DL for another 2 or more years. I would have been disappointed if I wasn't able to go there and experience it since we are so close to its grand opening. For that, I am truly grateful to Disney.

As an adult, I loved the theming of Bugland and how it all came together aesthetically. But I really have to wonder how this attraction will pan out for the kids. Bugland was only able to occupy my preschooler's time for not more than an hour.

roymccoy- 47" to ride alone sounds about right. Kids have to be 52" at Autotopia to ride alone. And it's not the tallest ride restriction in the park, unless your not including "California Screamin" or "Maliboomer"(definately not for small children). My kids(ages 5 & 7) really enjoyed FFF, and they are theme park veterans. Yes the rides are sort of cheesy, but it's brightly colored and themed well. :jester:
